Nolan lost his parent and was attacked by some Rogues. He was saved by a group of warriors, led by a young girl in a mask. He could feel the connection and is sure she's his mate. She left before he could say a word. A few years later, he became the ruthless and most feared alpha, and yet he is the kindest of all alpha. How he kept both characteristics were unknown to many. Nobody knows him as the ruthless alpha because of his mask. He was gentle in the morning and ruthless at night. The only thing that connected him to his ruthless self is the fact that they both have no mate. What happens when fate brought him and his mate together and he got rejected by her. She doesn't love him but she is madly in love with the ruthless alpha. ** I smirked. "So, funny you're my mate" She hissed. "And so?" I batted my lashes. This girl has got guts. I hid my anger already building up. I lean on her locker and she growled. I smirked. I love to see her get angry. "That makes you mine" She chuckled but suddenly stopped. She folded her hands and glared at me. "And who told you that?" "I know so. You've been chosen as my mate by the moon goddess" She laughed. "Sorry to burst your bubbles mister, I reject you!!". I batted my lashes. Did she just rejected me in public?. She turned to leave. I watched her walked away and I stood rooted to a spot. It's so surprising I got rejected by my mate. Male alphas are known to reject their mates but in my case, I am the alpha who got rejected by his mate.

Chapter 1 Prologue

NOLAN

I was running through the bushes. It was late in the night but I could see due to my supernatural eyes. I was been pursued by some Rogues. I was bored and decided to leave our territory to visit a friend from another pack. I was still on my way when I got attacked by some rogues. I was quick to run but they ran after me. I kept looking back to see how far I had gone. They threw an arrow towards me. I was fast to dodge it. They kept firing arrows at me until I got hit by one. I groaned in pain but kept running. I needed to escape or I'll get killed just like my parent was, some few nights ago.

It was a few days after my eighteen birthday. We were done having dinner at the packhouse. Some of our pack members who had their own houses had gone back. And the rest of the members had retired to bed too. I was in my room, already wrapped up in my blanket, when my mom walked in. "Nolan, can you get me some herbs in the garden?"

Though she had complained about having a running stomach, I didn't expect she had needed herbs by that time of the day. I stood up sluggishly from my bed to help her get them. When I got to the garden, I search for the herbs but couldn't find the ones she asked for. I decided to go into the forest to get them, so I left the packhouse and went into the forest. It took me a while before I was able to get the herbs. I was so happy that I whistled back to the packhouse. By the time I got back to the packhouse, a lot has happened and the packhouse was already in a mess.

I noticed when I walked past some people while heading to the packhouse, they were staring at me with pity in their eyes and I didn't bother to ask questions. So when I saw some of the elders were by the packhouse door and a few bodies on the ground, I knew something was wrong. I looked around in search of my parent but couldn't find them. Being the Alpha and Luna of our pack, they were expected to be out here. "What's going on?" I wondered. I walked towards them. "What's wrong?" I asked one of the elders who instead of answering me, shook his head in pity.

I asked others but none was ready to give me an answer. I could feel something was wrong and the fact that I got no answer from anyone made my curiosity grow deeper. After a while of fruitless asking, I got frustrated and decided to go into the house to find out myself. I dropped the herbs I was holding and rushed to the door but they held me back. "What's going on?!!!. Tell me, what's going on!!" I yelled

They tried calming me down but I wasn't ready to do that. "Where is my parent?. Where is the Alpha and the Luna?" I yelled, pushing those holding me away vigorously.

"Nolan, you need to calm down, ok?"

I hissed and brushed my hair backward angrily and groaned. "Don't tell me to calm down. Just tell me, where are my parent?"

Declan, my father's beta walked towards me. "Nolan, you need to calm down. I promise to tell you what happened only if you calm down"

I sighed. "Tell me what happened. Every detail of it"

"Nolan, there was an attack and....."

"And what?"

"We lost the Alpha and Luna"

I laughed as tears streamed down my face. "You're joking right?. My parent ain't dead right?"

"I'm so sorry Nolan, but that's the truth. I'm sorry we didn't get here on time to rescue them"

I wiped my tears. "Who did this?"

"Nolan...."

"Who did this!!!"

"It's the Alpha of the mountain pack. H...."

I rushed off immediately. I'm going to take revenge. He ran after me and caught me right before I could leave our territory. "Nolan, don't try anything stupid. You can't win. You know that"

I pushed him off. "Don't you dare stop me!!". I ran off before he could stop me again. I couldn't get to the Mountain pack because it was shielded with dark magic but that night, as I walked back to our packhouse, I vowed to find a way of taking revenge on Salvador, the alpha of the Mountain pack. That same night, he became my greatest enemy.

An arrow flew past my ear, jolting me back to reality. I groaned. I was losing so much blood and couldn't heal myself up. I turned to look at them and realized, they were catching up with me already. I held my waist to try to stop the bleeding. I felt another arrow pierce through my back and I fell to the fall. I groaned in pain, as I tried to stand up and keep running. I saw an arrow coming in my direction but someone blocked it. A girl actually, she seems to be a year younger than I am. Which makes her seventeen. I couldn't see her face cause of the mask she wore but I could feel a connection.

"Could she be my mate?" I thought

I wanted to move about she stopped me. "Stand still" she ordered. I rested on a tree and watch her fight with the rogues, alongside some warriors. After a while, there was silence. She walked in my direction. "Are you ok?". I nodded. And wanted to say thank you but she was gone. I looked around and all I could see were dead bodies. I tried to follow her scent but I couldn't so I limped back to our territory where I was attended to. Some days later, I went out to see if I will come across her but I didn't. Every day, I sneak out to see if I would see her. I kept doing that until I got tired and felt the moon goddess doesn't love me enough to let me meet her again.
