Emma stared blankly at the empty street ahead of her, her heart heavy with the weight of betrayal. She needed to find a way to heal.
The idea of a trip to a small coastal town in Maine had been nagging at her for days, so she decided to pack a bag and hit the road. As she drove, she watched the scenery change from cityscape to countryside, and finally to the picturesque town she had seen only in pictures.
Emma checked into a cozy bed and breakfast and headed straight to the beach, hoping the fresh air and the sound of the waves would clear her head. She walked along the shoreline, feeling the sand between her toes and the salty breeze on her face.
