Chapter 1 Elias

THIS IS THE SECOND BOOK IN THE LEGENDS SERIES. TO UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING I RECOMMEND READING THE FIRST BOOK WEREWOLVES FIRST.

Elias his pov,

Elias still felt hungover from the surprise birthday party his friends threw him yesterday. He chuckled when he thought about the wild night at his foster parents pool. It had been a hell of a party, he did not remember everything because of the amount of alcohol he consumed but his pounding head definitely reminded him. Luckily, his parents cleaned the mess of the party for him, by the time he woke up it was already too late to help them but he knew they wouldn't mind. He had been incredibly lucky with his foster parents, they were rich, kind and they loved him. His whole life was pretty great to be honest he had lots of friends and not a care in the world. But he could not help always trying to search for thrills, he loved the feeling of adrenaline flowing through his veins. Which was why he was on his way to participate in some crazy experiment. He did not care about the million-dollar reward. When a stranger told him about the experiment he didn't hesitate for a minute. All he could think was how wicked it sounded and how much he was longing for an adventure.

He arrived at the science building and introduced himself to the other 2 people in the waiting room. He shook the hand of the handsome guy with dark hair and immediately knew they would get along. His gaze shifted to the woman in the chair, with her dark skin and pale blue eyes she was one of the rarest beauty's he had ever seen. She seemed very shy and hardly dared to look back into his eyes so he just lifted his hand in a greeting, "Hi my name is Elias."

She blushed and quickly averted her eyes before mumbling, "I am Idalia."

Before he could talk to her more another woman came into the room. There could not have been a bigger difference between the 2 women because this woman strutted in with the confidence like she ruled the world. Elias saw Dante his eyes light up with interest as he scanned her from top to toe. He immediately stepped toward her and took her hand to put a kiss on it and introduce himself.

She looked at him amused and introduced herself to them, "Lola."

Elias chuckled and pushed him aside jokingly before shaking the woman's hand, “I am Elias. Don’t be too impressed by Dante he used the same flirting technique on me.”

Lola laughed and Elias pointed at the other woman, “This is Idalia.”

Idalia gave him a grateful glare because he included her in the conversation. They all sat down and started with some small talk when they all found out that they shared the same birthday. Elias didn't think too much of it because it didn't really matter to him why he was here, he just wanted to get on with it and dive into the adventure. He got snapped from his thoughts when he heard the sound of high heels approaching on the floor. A beautiful redhead walked their way and he couldn't help but gaze at her curvy body. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Lola roll her eyes at him and Dante.

The woman smiled and said, “Hi everyone, my name is Feline. We are ready for you now so if you would please follow me?”

She led them to a room and started a presentation about creatures from legends. She talked about werewolves, fae, vampires, and witches and Elias hung to her lips with every word she said. His heart already started beating faster and excitement filled his body. This better not be a joke he thought because it sounded so freaking cool to him. He wanted an adventure, but the experiment Feline was talking about exceeded his naughtiest dreams. Dante and Lola did not seem to share his excitement because they just kept bombarding Feline with critical questions. When they finally stopped asking questions Feline left the room so they would have some time to think about it.

While the others started discussing, Elias got lost in thoughts again. They wanted him to look for legendary species and even become something magical himself by getting ancient DNA inserted. What the hell was there not to like?

To his surprise, all 4 of them say yes to the experiment. He feels weirdly connected to them like he has known them his whole life and not just a few hours. When they lead them to a hall and it becomes clear they will be separated he exchanges one last glance with the shy Idalia with her remarkable eyes, the confident sassy Lola, and the mysterious Dante. He felt in his bones that this would not be the last time he would cross paths with them, and he took comfort in that gut feeling.

He was assisted into a small room with just a white chair, a table and a small TV on the wall. Elias grinned when he took in yet another beautiful woman. He was truly blessed today with meeting so many stunning women. The woman studied him cautiously, her bright green eyes narrowing behind her glasses. Her hair was black as night and cut into a short bob that reached her chin. She pointed a perfectly manicured finger toward the chair, “Welcome Elias. Please sit down so we can begin.”

Elias did not take his eyes off her while he walked to the chair. “You know my name, so it is only fair if you tell me yours?” he said and he grinned mischievously in a way he knew most girls liked.

She paid him no attention and ignored his question. She turned on the TV screen which showed him a slideshow of pictures. They looked like ordinary people except that they were all immensely beautiful. Some were beautiful in a cold distant way while others seemed to radiate with light. Elias felt confused as to why he was looking at pictures of pretty people. The woman without a name started talking, “We have found that your DNA shows compatibility with the Fae creatures you are looking at. Because of these creatures' magical abilities, we have no information about their residence nor are we sure what exactly they are capable of. I am afraid we can offer you no help as to where to find them or what to expect. We hope once we inject the DNA your instinct will help you. We will give you money and food for the journey. Lastly, you will get a silver ring that you need to wear. When we want to contact you, this ring will light up. When it does, make sure you find a private place and answer by just stating your name.”

Elias his head was still buzzing from all the information when she came back with an injection of silver liquid. Elias swallowed loudly because he had never had a high pain tolerance but before he could protest, she had already slammed the injection into his arm. He screamed when he felt the needle penetrate his arm with a stinging sensation. He tried to focus on his throbbing head as he felt the liquid enter his veins. Slowly his vision faded until he lost himself to the darkness.

When he woke up again his head was no longer throbbing and his whole body was filled with a tingling sensation. He looked around the room confused and found himself completely alone. His arm was patched with a bandage and a ring was shimmering around his finger. He slowly got up and took the backpack that was lying at his feet. He walked to the door that he entered through but found it locked. He sighed and turned around wondering what to do now when he noticed another door. He could swear it hadn’t been there before, but he was eager to get out of there. He couldn’t say his short moment with the beautiful scientist had been particularly pleasant. As soon as he stepped through the door, warm sunlight greeted him, and he eagerly stepped closer soaking it in. He closed his eyes for a moment and breathed in the fresh air that filled his lungs. The air felt fresher than it ever did before and although he enjoyed the sun before he never had felt it hug him like a warm blanket that wrapped around him. In the distance he could hear birds sing and the whispering breath of the wind flowing through the trees. He immediately felt the urge to be closer to nature and follow the sounds. Living in a large city he never paid much attention to nature and silence, so he didn’t know if it sounded so alluring because of the injection or because he never took the time to listen.

He followed the bird sounds leading him away from the building into a thick forest with a wide variety of trees. He never met another soul while he walked further and further into the forest while breathing in the scent of fresh pinecones. He stopped at an open space to take in the sight of the autumn-colored leaves that slowly fell from the tree branches all around him. The tingling sensation in his hands became stronger and without a second thought, he lifted his hand. Immediately the leaves rushed towards him and floated around him like a tornado. Elias gaped at the sight before him, realizing he had just done some kind of magic. FUCKING EFFORTLESS MAGIC? When the leaves fell back to the ground he just stared at his hands in wonder when he heard a loud pop in the air.

His soul almost left his body when suddenly he was surrounded by a circle of men in black leather clothes. They were all beautiful, but Elias shivered when he saw how cold and cruel their eyes were. One of them spoke, and it haunted Elias how he could even hear him speak in his head as his cold eyes were fixated on him.
