Chapter 1 Torment and Triumph

Danielle's Perspective On Wednesday

"Danielle, wake up!!" My mother screamed from the basement.

I'm Danielle and I'm seventeen years old. April 24th is my birthdate, and I presently reside with my two incredible parents, Jacob and Anna

It had been years of tension and despair, but finally, senior year had arrived.

My worry was solely caused by a well-known bully named Jack during my freshman year of school; it had nothing to do with the academic aspect of the curriculum.

Finally, he doesn't mind joining his friends, Cameron and Ash, in torturing other people. They did a fantastic job of escalating their insults on me.

And even though it seemed like they were all jerks, Jack wasn't. They don't actually engage with him, thus I'm not sure if he can really be considered a friend.

Jack had to be the poorest of the three.

retrospect

Jack shouted, "Get up, whore".

I struggled to stand up, but because of my frailty, the floor felt cold to me.

I eventually got to my feet and proceeded to the girl's bathroom, where I saw the horrifying sight on my body. My arms and legs were covered in bruises.

All I wanted was for the pain to stop, but it didn't seem conceivable because my body was trembling all over the place.

I pulled out my razor, ready to take it all down.

ten cuts, one, two, three, and so forth.

I was able to stop shaving and clean my arms of the blood that was flowing. I was so afraid of making touch with anyone else that I nearly sprinted out of the bathroom after I was done.

I felt someone's fist making contact with my cheek, and I failed terribly. I glanced up and saw Jack grinning and peering down from above. He still hadn't had enough even after that……..Final Flashback

The memories of the night was just terrifying when I woke up. I detested having to live for the never-ending torment that lay ahead of me despite everything I had gone through.

All I wanted to do after that day was pass away. Had it not been for my parents' desire to get help, I doubt that I would have carried out my initial plan to commit suicide.

Sadly, the assistance my parents provided me with ended after two months, and I started cutting again.

The present….

It was now 7:15, and I had finished getting ready, hair, and makeup and despite the fact that everyone criticises my appearance, I've always struggled to get up early in order to improve.

I would be "absolutely disgusting" to look at without my makeup.

My folks met me when I came downstairs once I was finished and ready.

"Good morning, Danielle," my folks said.

I replied, "good morning".

My mother said, "We made you some pancakes."

I strolled over to the table and started eating with them, saying "thank you."

"Honey, we have some exciting news!" My mother nearly screamed.

"oh, what is it?" I said. "We are going out to dinner on Friday with some old friends and during dinner we are going to announce some important news," my parents replied.

"Excellent," I said, speculating as to what their potentially noteworthy news would be. However, nothing immediately sprang to mind, so I suppose I'll just have to wait and see.

-Getting to school: When I got there, I noticed them waiting outside so they could humiliate and torment me in front of the entire school.

"Look who just showed up," Cameron exclaimed. "It's the slut," Jack shot back.

I sprinted as quickly as I could to avoid getting harmed, but Jack and Cameron charged at me. I felt someone tug my hair back once they got close to me, and I realised it was Jack.

"Don't you know you can't be wearing that because you're too out of shape" Jack chuckled.

I won't lie: that broke me even more than it has already. You also don't know this about me, but I have a very sensitive side. For the smallest things, I cry. A flood of heated tears ran down my cheeks.

Jack remarked, "Cam, look, the slut is crying."

When they heard me, the entire school burst out laughing. Up until I started experiencing back pain, my only emotions at the moment were extreme grief and rage. When I realised that Jack had shoved me, I was on the ground, struggling to get to my feet. As I struggled to stand up, everyone laughed, but nobody had the courage to come to my aid. I attempted to stand up, but I was too frail. Everything was becoming hazy, making it difficult for me to see or

understand what was going on.

Jack's perspective

Being able to stand above her gave me a great sense of power at that moment. I stopped as soon as I saw Cameron stop.

Cam shouted, "Hey Jack, she's not moving." I responded, "Let's go before we get in trouble."

Danielle's Perspective: Later that day, when I woke up, I discovered that I was at the hospital rather than at school. I looked around the room and saw my parents asleep. Before long, my mother started to stir up and jumped to see that I was awake.

"Hi honey, how are you feeling?" I answered "fine" when my mother asked me because I didn't know how to respond. All I can recall is that when I got to school, Cameron and Jack hurt me and everyone laughed at me, but that's all I can recall. I would have to make up a lie because I knew I couldn't tell my parents about this; otherwise, they would just assume I needed help.

My mother advised me to "get some rest and not think about it too much," and I chose to take a nap after realising she was right.

Jack's perspective

I heard my family talking about their friend's kid getting harmed as we were having dinner, but I didn't really care and didn't pay attention.

"Jack!" My mother exclaimed, "What!?" I said, "Did you hear what me and you're father just told you?" We were just discussing the dinner we are about to attend with some old friends," I said in response to her question. "Um, no sorry," my mother said. "Wait, I have to go? Why not?" I said "Yes, because during dinner we are going to announce some important news." My mom stated
