Chapter 1 The Devil

Sky

I hold my mouth shut with my hands as I shiver watching the horror unfold in front of me.

Secluded in such a dark area had hidden me from participating in the trauma of my life but my eyes were not shielded from it as I watched it all unfold.

Standing in the room was five men, four of them dressed in black while one of them, tall and husky wore a grey pant and a black shirt, his build was bigger despite being hidden under that oversized shirt. A couple of inches taller than all the men in the room, it was easy to know he was the leader of the group.

Right in the middle of them was the Klaus family, his wife and his 24 year old daughter who was the same age as me.

“Do you have any idea who I am?” Mr Klaus demanded, his breathing heaved.

His eyes daring as he stared at the men before him.

“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t” the man replied, he leaned on the wall with his left leg raised up. A smug look on his face as he flicked through his fingers.

“How dare you come into my home?” Mr Klaus yelled. His voice high pitched annoying the man in front of him.

He pulled off the wall and walked closer, a slap to his face was enough to make me jump.

He had just slapped Mr Klaus. He grabbed a fistful of hair raising his face to his.

“You don’t seem to grasp what is going on here?” He breathed out.

“I could have you killed”

The man moved away from him and then came back with speed knocking his jaw with his knees, Mr Klaus fell with a heavy stud to the ground. As an average man with a rounded stomach, he bounced like a ball on the floor.

Blood dripped from his nose and mouth, he rolled to the side as he coughed out on the ground.

He slowly sat up to face the man in front him, “What do you want from me?” He asked.

“Revenge” the man answered, his eyes daring and mysterious. There was a familiarity in the way he spoke, like he had known Mr Klaus for a long time.

His wife and daughter were being held down by those men, he knelt in front of them like a shield but there is not so much he could do when he was at the mercy of this man.

I gulped down as I gazed into his eyes, I have never seen so much hatred and resentment, my skin crawled and I could feel the darkness envelop me. I dared not to make a sound, I could never face a man like him, I would be dead in seconds.

“Please spare my family” Mr Klaus began to plead. He probably realized that he was not going to make it out alive, he was no match for the man. I could feel the fear in his voice as he spoke. He had no one to save him, he was all alone.

The man leaned down a bit and grabbed his Adam’s apple,

“Did you think you could deceive me and get away with it?

I served you for years, I gave you a chance to come clean to me but you decided to use me” the man threatened.

As I sat in the darkness, I wondered whath meant by that, I never knew Mr Klaus as a deceiver, he was a very honest man. He had men at his beak and call but he was never violent, not that I knew him to be.

“I am sorry” he began begging, pleading on his life, wishing and praying that he and his family would not be hurt.

A shrilled laugh filled the room, it was dark and filled with evil thoughts,

“Tie him up” the man ordered.

Mr Klaus struggled with two men that held him but for a man who was short in stature with a protruding stomach and a bald head, he was like a potato thrown on a chair, soon he was tied up and unable to move.

“I gave you the chance to walk away, to avoid all these but you chosed to look the other way.

You know I don’t give second chances”

I was getting more confused by what was going on, if Mr Klaus wasn’t guilty considering the type of man I knew he was then why was he begging or could he have been in the wrong?.

Kayla has been quiet ever since, wrapped in her mother’s arm who was shielding her from what they would do to her father.

“Please forgive me” Mr Klaus pleaded.

“Hmm” he breathed out picking something from the dinner table, I couldn’t figure out what it was until he got closer to Mr Klaus and stabbed him in the eye.

It was a Fork.

My body began shaking and I tried so hard to hid my hasty breaths, watching blood gush out from his eyes and his screams of agony, I couldn’t bare to look at him. How could a person be so wicked to do that to anyone.

“Now with one eye, I want you kill your daughter, let’s say your vision was blurry and you didn’t see her and shot her by accident.

No, not Kayla, I thought to myself. Kayla was my best friend, she was the closest thing I had to a family. I watched them take her out of Mrs Klaus care, they held her still making sure that she wouldn’t move a muscle.

The man moved closer to Mr Klaus, he positioned a gun in his hand and raised his arm up to Kayla’s head.

I wanted to run out, I wanted to save her but I was just a weak and defenseless girl who couldn’t move because she was terrified.

Bang, came the gunshot and Kayla dropped to the ground dead with a bullet hole to her head. I could see her staring straight at me, it was like I could hear her last words to me.

“Found you”
