Chapter 1 First Meeting
Sophia's POV:
A long and deep sigh escaped through my lips as I checked my wristwatch for I don't know how many times. I've been sitting inside the coffee shop for almost forty-five minutes, but I still can't see even a glimpse of the person who texted me yesterday. Mr. Daniel Kelley, the CEO of Kelley International Corporation, my 'so-called' fiance and a husband to be three weeks from now.
He said he wants us to meet and to see me personally before they announce our engagement party next week. I agreed, so I cancelled my first practice appointment just to meet him.
Maybe you're confused about the engagement party. How can be two people get engaged without knowing each other, or without even seeing each other? Well, this is just a contractual marriage, so to be intimate with each other is not necessary. We only need to be in this marriage for one year and after that, we're going to go in our separate ways again.
"Ten minutes. No, five minutes. Five more minutes and if he still don't show up himself, I'm gonna leave and I won't also show myself until the engagement party." I muttered lowly while roaming my eyes inside the restaurant.

Chapter 1 PROLOGUE
DORIS EVANS scurried through the crowded airport, searching frantically for the lost and found office. Her heart pounded against her chest and her breath shortened and quickened as she pushed her way through the throngs of people. She felt panic rising inside her, and her hands trembling as she fumbled through her pockets, looking for her phone.
OH, DORIS! YOU AND YOUR SCATTERED BRAIN!
How had she misplaced her purse? There were important things in there that she couldn't afford to lose.
Just when she was about to lose it completely to panic, she spotted a sign pointing to the lost and found, and she hurried towards it, feeling a glimmer of hope.
She shoved past someone as she reached the entrance. Subconsciously, she apologized hastily before proceeding to the clerk's desk.
Doris cleared her throat. "Uh. . . Hi, there!" She said, addressing the clerk. "I lost my purse some minutes ago."
Desperate, she pleaded with the clerk, explaining that she had her passport and other important documents in the purse. Luckily, someone had just brought in the same purse she had described.
"Is this your purse?" he asked, holding up a small black handbag.
Doris' eyes widened in recognition. "Yes!" she exclaimed. "That's it. That's my purse! Oh! I was really starting to panic. Thank you so much!"
After going through the identification process and whatnot, it was released back to her.

Chapter 1 The Dance of Resilience and Jealousy
She was only wearing a thin hospital gown, and although the sun was warm, it was still a bit cold.
She found a secluded spot to stand, looking at the tree in front of her, which already had buds.
She crossed her arms, seeming weak, but emanating a stubborn indifference
She had a very beautiful face, her exquisite features rarely showing much emotion, but this didn’t affect her charm, her delicate skin lonely, and also uniquely attractive.
She took a deep breath. Her mood just slightly became better when someone stood in front of her.
Keira held a steaming thermos cup, her long, curly hair draped over her shoulders. She had bright eyes and white teeth. There was a man’s uniform jacket draped over her body
Looking at Chloe’s indifferent and beautiful face, her proud temperament made Keira very jealous.

Chapter 1 Surprise
In the dark of the night, Loraine Bryant walked nervously to a room, straightening her silk nightgown with sweaty palms.
This was the first time she'd worn such a revealing nightgown, and she wasn't wearing any underwear, either.
There was a cool breeze, and the sensation of it brushing past her skin made her tremble.
Loraine spurred herself on.
There was nothing to be afraid of, she reminded herself.
The man in the room was her husband, Marco Bryant, and they had been married for three years. A nightgown like this was made for times like this.
Patting her face and taking deep, calming breaths, Loraine knocked on the door.
A man appeared, tall and strong-looking. His eyes were unfriendly and his lips were slightly pursed. He was as handsome as a god from an ancient Greek oil painting.
"It's late. What's up?"
His voice was ice cold. It was like looking at a stranger.
Loraine almost lost all the courage she had worked so hard to gather.
"Marco, do you remember what day it is?"
Marco frowned. "Get to the point."
The expectation in Loraine's eyes became disappointment. Forcing a smile, she said, "It's our third wedding anniversary. You've seemed so busy lately. But it doesn't matter; I prepared a surprise for you!"

Chapter 1 The Heart of the Demon God's Sacrifice: A Clash of Destiny
A cold light appeared all of a sudden along with the sound of bones and flesh being chopped apart. Blood. Bright red blood was splashed across the white snow. Behind the splash of blood stood a gorgeous woman, holding a sharp sword in hand. She stared coldly at the enemies that she slaughtered. No emotion could be sensed from her pale and calm eyes.
The woman was in a long and thin-layered dress in winter. Her pure white dress had been dyed a crimson color by the endless blood.
Beside her feet, nearly a hundred corpses stacked on top of the white snow. The blood that flow out of the corpses had also dyed the snow around her red.
However…
This was not the end yet.
The woman raised her eyes slightly. On her pale but beautiful face, a pair of deep eyes took a glimpse towards the tens of thousands of people gathered in a circle hundreds of miles away, with everyone there staring at her in a greedy way.
Scanning through the faces one by one, the woman suddenly raised her lips to an angle, displaying her evilness. She raised her hand and used one of the fingers to wipe off a drop of warm blood sliding down the corner of her lips. The pale lips were covered by a trace of redness, bright but sinister.
79 people… who would be the next one?
Ye Qingtang had never thought that one day she would become the enemy of the rest of the world and be attacked by tens of thousands of people on Lingyun Cliff!
All these could be credited to the Heart of the Demon God located in her chest!

Chapter 1 The Substitute Bride
Standing in front of the mirror in an ill-fitting wedding dress, Jane studied her reflection and felt the corner of her lips twist into a wry smile.
“Sign this contract”.
Jane caught the document that her father, Peter Harrison, tossed at her. Her eyes traveled to the bottom of the page where her husband-to-be’s signature stared back at her: Ethan Harrington.
The handwriting was neat as though in fine print but the pen had been gripped with enough force for the ink to have bled through the other side of the paper.
“You’ll be well taken care of as his wife but…”, he warned, “… you’d better behave”.
An edge crept into his voice like the hints of a dark cloud looming over the horizon.
“Think about what will happen to your grandmother if you ruin everything”.
It should have been Stacy in her place, Jane thought. But Stacy didn’t want to marry a man on the verge of death — why would she?
She had fled just a few hours before her wedding but to tell the groom’s family would be nothing short of insulting, even humiliating, which was why her father had — rather callously— threatened Jane with her grandmother’s life to coerce her into taking Stacy’s place.

Chapter 1 Delivery In The Wild
It was a dark night.
Clutching her swollen belly with gritted teeth, Novalee Webb scuttled for refuge. Her once-white cotton dress was smeared with blood.
Blood was still trickling down her legs!
Damn it! She was about to give birth!
Her strength was failing. She could no longer flee! She'd been on the run for what felt like eternity, and she was sure that despicable couple couldn't reach her now.
Novalee's eyes darted about. She saw nothing but fields of grass.
Tenderly feeling the uneasy child within her, she whispered, "My little one, should your mom bring you into this world in the wild?"
A sudden contraction seized her, causing her to wail in agony!
Half an hour later, the cry of a newborn baby shattered the serenity of the wilderness.
With sweat, Novalee's hair clung to her cheeks, and her lips were marked by rawness and blood. Yet, she took no notice of it. Disregarding the discomfort, she reached out with pure joy to hold her precious newborn child.

Chapter 1 A Web of Deceit Unraveled
It was midnight, and the raindrops were pounding the window.
Inside a house, a man said coldly, “sign the divorce papers! As compensation, I will give you 100 million dollars in alimony.”
“Did I do something wrong again, Bruce? ” asked Joanna Haynes timidly. She had always been a humble servant in front of him.
“Roxy’s back, and she doesn’t want to see you! It’s time for our marriage to end. So you have to go!” Bruce Everett said, crossing his long legs and leaning back on the couch. He was as handsome as a classical Greek sculpture, but the look on his face was as cool as ever.
Joanna’s pale lips quivered as if she had fallen into the icy water. She asked with shock, “You’re divorcing me because she’s back? Is our marriage nothing but a joke to you?”
“You were not the one I wanted to marry in the first place, and you drove Roxy away two years ago with your dirty tricks. Now that she’s back, I won’t make the same mistake. Hurry up and sign the papers! 100 million dollars for two years of your pathetic life. You should consider it a bargain.” Bruce had always been good at hurting her with words.
