After fate pulled them apart Mia left town. Mia went to the city to attend college and start her life. after 7 years away fate pulls Mia back to small town Virginia. She runs into Fletcher, boy next store, brothers best friend and her first love. Will it finally be their time or will fate intervene yet again?
I pull down the highway from DC into my hometown of Sunnyvale, Virginia. Its always a surreal feeling pulling into our small town tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have spent the better part of seven years avoiding home at all costs. I would only return for the major holidays and make excuses to stay in DC for the rest of the time. I automatically start to feel my skin crawl knowing that once my car is seen driving down colonial street the whole town will know I am back and there will be no more avoiding it.
I love my family and am happy to come back to help my parents after my dad suffered a heart attack last week.
I drive ten minutes down colonial and pull onto my parents street and pull into their driveway. My parents live in a beautiful two-story colonial made of brick and a large wrap around porch fitted with his and hers rocking chairs that have been there for as long as I can remember. I walk up and let myself in where I am greeted instantly with the smell of bacon and sounds of Mama doing dishes in the kitchen. I drop my bags and greet Mama at the sink, "hey ma, got anymore bacon?" "oh my, Mia! do not sneak up on me while I am washing the dishes!" mama said while wiping her hands on her apron front so she can hug me. Mama gestures towards the table where a mound of bacon is sitting, "I had to cook up the rest of the breakfast meats, daddy comes home today and can't eat that." I help myself to the bacon and grab a glass to pour myself some juice. "how is dad? I bet he's too happy to come home and eat heart healthy meals." Mama sighs and replies "it's been rough but he's determined to make it to see grandchildren and seeing how you and Nick don't even have significant others he needs to all the time he can get." I roll my eyes, my parents are dying to become grandparents especially after their best friends and next door neighbors became grandparents seven years ago. "I am working hard and hardly have time to casually date let alone look for a husband/baby daddy" "You work to hard you aren't focusing on what is important in life, family. It's time you start thinking about starting your own" mama replies. I can't stomach the family argument with mama so I take my plate to the sink and kiss mama on the cheek "I'm going to wash up so we can pick dad up".
