His Sweetheart Chapter 1 NO.1

Amelia Smith POV:

"Mummy! Mummy! Stawp!" My two year old son giggled, screeching as I tickled him.

It's not long before I am laughing with him. My son, Luke.

I smile at him, he was too cute. He looked exactly like me and his father imagined, exactly how everyone else imagined too. He had his black hair and my bright green eyes, he had chubby cheeks and was just the cutest ever.

"Okay, do you want some cookies?" I ask ruffling his hair. His eyes light up and he begins to jump up and down.

"Yeah!" He squeals. He lifts his arms up as he wanted me to lift him. I put him on my hip before walking in to the kitchen. I grab a freshly baked cookie that I let cool down from the batch I previously made.

There was a knock on the door, and I smile.

"Uncle Drew?" Luke whispers, whilst taking a bite out of the cookie.

I keep Luke on my hip and answer the door with a smile.

"Drew-" I'm cut off.

It wasn't Drew, no. It was someone I wished to never see again.

"Mummy, who? Who?" Luke shuffled in my arms. Luke didn't like new people, especially new men. I remembered when he began crying because the postman had a parcel for me.

I put him down, kissing his head.

"Go play with your cars Luke" I force a smile, "Drew would be here in a minute" i say and he nods before bouncing off to play with his toys.

"Who's Drew?"I hear the voice of the man I used to love. The voice that still made my knees go weak.

"That's none of your concern" I say bluntly, spinning on my heel to look at Nick Black. Luke's father and my ex husband. "Why are you here?" I asked, I made sure I looked unfazed but my heart was beating so quickly. How did he find me?

"I think you know why, sweetheart" His voice is gruff and deep, as it always was. Somehow, he looks worse than all the photos in magazines and newspapers. He had large purple bags under his eyes, his black hair was long and almost covered his eyes.

"Don't call me that!" I hiss, the nickname bought back so many memories of us being happy. "I don't know why you are here. You have no right to be here. You cheated on me, remember?" I question, tilting my head to the side and putting my hand on my hip.

"I didn't fucking cheat on you Amelia!" His voice boomed, "I loved you, i still do" His voice broke and it shattered my heart. Though, I made it look like I didn't care. "You are my world" his whispers brokenly, "why would I risk losing someone as valuable as you for her?" he spat 'her'. His eyes softened and he looked at me desperately.

"I don't care what you and that bitch done" I say, the memories flooding my mind. I can't believe of all people it was my best friend, well, now ex best friend.

"Amelia, please believe me" he begs, his eyes seemed to water but I turned on my heel away from him.

"Mummy" Luke runs in, tears running down his face.

"What's wrong baby?" I ask, wiping his tears and lifting him up.

"I hurt" he cried, putting his hand out. I kissed it better, like I knew he wanted me to. He always had.

"Aw my poor baby" I say, hugging him closely to me.

I see Nick look at our son. He didn't know I was pregnant at the time, I was actually planning a surprise to tell him when I found out. However, when I got those photos, I ran away after filling out divorce papers. We argued for a bit and he always tells he didn't. But I knew they were too close.

"Who's son is that?" His voice is soft. He walks in and shuts the door behind him.

I stay quiet, making sure my baby boy was okay.

"How old is he?" He asked.

"2" I say quietly.

Nick eyes widen and his jaw dropped.

"He's mine" he gasped, his eyes filling with adoration as he looked at our son.

"Yeah" I say, kissing Luke on the forehead.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked. He sounded the tiniest bit angry and upset.

"You cheated" I state.

"If only you would have listened to me! This is my son too, Amelia! I missed his first word, his first steps, his birth" he says.

"Well I'm sorry Nick, but I was planning on telling you as soon as I found out that I was pregnant. But then I got the photos of you two cheating and when I came home you were both there! Don't tell me that doesn't seem like you were cheating" I say loudly. I see Luke flinch at my loud voice and I whisper to him that I was sorry.

"I'm sorry" Nick says, "I'm fucking sorry Amelia! I never cheated on you, I never would. Why would I? Everyone knew I loved you more than anything. These past 2 years have been hell for me. It's been hell being without you. Now I found out I have a son too!" Nick cried out, "please sweetheart, I want to make up the time I've been without you both" he says.

"You can see Luke. You can spend time with Luke. It's not fair that you can't see him. But that's all" I say firmly. I looked to see Luke had fell asleep on my shoulder and smiled lightly. He was so adorable.

"I want you, Sweetheart. I love you" he pleads, his eyes showing how heartbroken he was feeling.

"No Nick. It didn't work the first time, what makes you think it would work this time?" I ask and he sighed.

"Please sweetheart" he begs. I almost give in before I remember all the pain and agony I went through.

"No, goodbye Nick. You can see yourself out" I say and stand, putting Luke into bed.

When I went back into the room, I saw Nick look at the photos of my ultrasounds, and Luke when he was born.

"He looks like us" he says softly.

"He does" Luke was the only boy that had my heart. After what happened with Nick, I never got into a relationship again. I couldn't.

"Lia?" Drew walks in and I smile.

"Hey Drew" I grin as he kisses my head.

Drew was my gay best friend, he loved Luke and helped me a whole lot.

"Ah, So you're the boyfriend" I see rage light up in Nicks eyes.

"That's none of your concern. Who the hell are you?" Drew could be pretty scary if he wanted to, but I knew Nick could be stronger.

"That's Nick" I say, placing my hand on Drew's shoulder.

"Luke's father, Nick?" Drew asked and I nodded.

Drew smiled lightly at me.

"I'll text you when I should pick up Luke next" Nick mumbled, his eyes losing the look of determination.

He begins to walk to the door and before he opens it he looked into my eyes.

"I really love you, Amelia. I've never stopped loving you" the look of sincerity made my heart race, "I'll wait for you, sweetheart. I'll wait forever if it takes that long" he murmurs before closing the door behind him.

I'm left a mess, with Drew throwing questions at me.

It was going to be a long day!

I stood in the darkest corner of the Pierre Hotel’s ballroom, my cheap polyester dress itching against my skin while my wristband buzzed with a DARPA Priority Red alert. In front of the city’s elite, my fiancé Bryce Calloway took the stage, not to toast our future, but to publicly end our engagement and announce he was with my sister, Chloe. The room turned on me instantly, a hundred pairs of eyes pinning me down with pity and disgust as they physically backed away like I was contagious. When I returned home, my mother shattered a crystal vase at my feet, screaming that I was a humiliation and a "dropout" who didn't deserve a cent of the family fortune. Chloe and Bryce mocked me, laughing when I told them I had a mission with the National Security Agency, convinced I was either a pathological liar or a low-level criminal. They watched in horror as a black, unmarked military helicopter descended on our backyard to extract me, yet they still chose to believe I was being arrested for drug trafficking. They saw a pathetic girl who couldn't even parallel park, never realizing I was Dr. Nova Vance, the lead physicist behind the world's first successful fusion reactor. To secure funding for my research and gain a "fortress" of a name, I signed a thirty-day marriage contract with the arrogant billionaire Roman Knight. He treats me like a fraud, convinced I’m a gold-digger who failed out of college, while I quietly run global energy simulations from his guest bedroom. He has no idea that the "loser" he’s forced to live with is the same anonymous grandmaster who has been ruthlessly crushing him in online strategy games for months. "The contract is active," I told him, looking past his expensive suit. "But don't expect me to be your maid."

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.
