Chapter 1 Marry A Mysterious Husband

"Hmm..."

In a spacious and luxurious room, the light was dim.

A woman tried to move her body. Her arms had numbed down.

Her eyebrows knitted together. What happened to her?

Lola Li frowned, trying squint her eyes, only to see an infinite abyss of darkness. Why were her eyes covered?

'Oh my God!

It's so... hot.'

Lola Li struggled to sit up from the cushions only for her wrist to be grabbed by someone else.

She gasped, feeling the coldness of her skin.

"Don't move."

A cold voice sounded right beside her.

"Wh– who are you?"

Her voice trembled as she struggled under his grip. "What do you want to do with–humph!"

She felt his lips on hers!

His tongue darted across her bottom lip, forcing her to open up.

Her body was already getting hotter and hotter with each searing kiss.

Lola Li wanted to pull away, but she found that her body was telling a different story.

Tears streamed down her face as he continued his ministrations.

"No...no..."

she whispered and shook

as the man's fingers trailed across her skin.

What was even more embarrassing was the fact that Lola Li's eyes were covered by a piece of cloth. She couldn't see a thing!

She didn't even know what the man looked like!

"What can I do to make you let me go?" she cried out.

There was a small pause.

"It's too late."

She could feel his breath fanning her ears as he whispered,

"Good girl."

Before she could respond, his hands slowly slid down her waist, going under and under till...

"Mrs. Lola, wake up!"

Lola Li furrowed her eyebrows at the sound.

Was someone else in the room?

"Mrs. Lola!" Lola Li finally opened her eyes as she blinked sleepily.

Ah.

It turned out that everything had just been a dream.

She sighed in relief, patting her chest. Waves of sunlight peered through the window frames, making her eyes crinkle and narrow as they adjusted to daylight.

"Mrs. Lola, we've finally arrived," the one said again. She could already hear a trace of annoyance wrapped around her tone.

'Huh? What the hell?'

Lola Li immediately jolted up, looking around.

The leather seats of the luxurious Lincoln car cooled down her warm temperature as she fanned herself.

She furrowed her eyebrows. Why was she here? "Ah, we're... Where are we exactly?"

The maid cautiously approached her. She whispered in her ear. "MLY Garden, ma'am."

'Oh shit!

How could she forget?'

Lola Li finally came back to her senses! This was her wedding day!

Thanks to her snobbish stepmother, she was forced to marry the most mysterious man in the A Country today.

It was said that the man kept close ties with the government as well as the underworld. He could even be part of the mafia if she listened to even more ridiculous rumors. However, one thing was for sure – he was a man with omnipotent power.

Lola Li bit her lips anxiously

as the luxury car stopped at the gates of the villa.

Led by the maid, Lola Li walked inside the villa. Even by looking at the outdoors, the house was prestigious. A part of her wondered how she could go around the place without getting lost herself.

"Mr. Basil is waiting for you."

She walked up the stairs of the villa, stopping at a long corridor. The main turned, bowed respectfully, and left.

'What should I do?'

Lola blinked, gaping at the rooms before her. 'Which room should I go into? Or...

should I just run away while no one is looking?' she thought, digging her nails into her palm.

Just as she was about to turn around and walk away, a click sounded right beside her.

"You're late."

A cold voice sounded from the room next to her.

She stumbled back.

Before she could come to her senses, the man pulled her by the wrist and dragged her into the room.

Lola let out a muffled scream as the door was shut behind her.

"Let me go!" she yelled out.

However, the man didn't look like he cared as he pressed against her body with his hands around her waist.

"Mr.– Mr. Basil?"

She narrowed her eyes under the dim light.

He pursed his lips, eyes flashing with arrogance and indifference. Basil Bai looked like a Greek god. Although his features were indeed very regal, there was something about his aura that would make anyone step back in fear.

"Who do you think it is?"

He scowled,

lifting her chin up.

There was something in his eyes that screamed arrogance. It was as if he was expecting the whole world to come crawling at his feet.

Lola was flustered at his appearance. In fact, she was so intimidated that she couldn't even string proper words together.

"I..." she stuttered out.

"Didn't they tell you what to do before you came here?" He raised his eyebrows.

"I'm sorry, what?"

Lola pursed her lips. All she knew was that this was her first day as a married woman. It wasn't as if her snobbish stepmom would delight her with the details.

Seeing that she knew absolutely nothing, his face darkened.

Without another word, he gripped her wrist even tighter and dragged her inside.

"Shit!"

she bit out. "Be gentle. It hurts."

Basil sneered. "Shut up."

They stopped at his desk.

He reached out and grabbed a document from one of his drawers. From what Lola could see, Basil Bai was a well-organized man.

He slapped the paper onto her hands.

"What's this?"

she asked, startled.

"Contract."

His finger tapped against a section of the said contract, narrowing his eyes.

"You get two years. Once the baby's born, you can leave," he stated.

Lola's jaw dropped as she scanned the document. Words couldn't even describe how surprised and confused she was on her predicament.

Six months after losing my husband, Mark, I was a ghost in my own life, scrolling through Instagram when a photo ripped me from my numbness. It was Chloe' s account, a former intern I' d mentored, but the background-our living room. My living room. Only it wasn' t. The minimalist haven I designed was desecrated by gaudy gold wallpaper, a hideous leopard-print sofa, and a cheap crystal chandelier. Strangers laughed, red plastic cups in hand, in the space Mark and I built as a testament to our love. The house, bleeding, was screaming. Chloe was at its center, champagne flute in hand, her arm around David, Mark' s business partner. My husband' s friend. He smiled smugly, possessively, kissing her cheek. The caption: "New beginnings in our new home! Out with the old, in with the new! #blessed #bosslife." Our new home? My blood ran cold. My kitchen, painted garish pink. My garden, a frat house with a hot tub and beer bottles. They had taken my sanctuary, our legacy, and turned it into a mockery. The rage arrived like a physical blow, a hot spike in my chest. My hands shook, but my mind was terrifyingly clear. I called David. "What the hell are you and Chloe doing in my house?" His slick, unbothered voice, punctuated by Chloe' s infuriating giggle, coolly informed me Mark had signed everything over to him. It was his house now. His company. All perfectly legal. "People do strange things when the end is near," he sneered, dismissing Mark as a mere business transaction. He hung up, leaving me with the silence screaming in my ears. Just a house. It wasn' t just a house. It was my life. The last piece of Mark. And they had taken it, desecrated it, and were laughing. The grief that had fogged my world for six months burned away, replaced by a cold, hard resolve. They thought I was beaten, a grieving widow easily pushed aside. They had no idea who they were dealing with. I am a brilliant architect. I am meticulous. I see the flaws in every design, the stress points in every structure. And I designed that house. They' d started a war. I was going to finish it.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.
