You Deserve Chapter 1 01

Sun gradually rose out to bring brightness, which also woke up and brought some aspirants outside their cozy homes. One could see the early risers walk and jog happily, enjoying the hypnotic view of the early morning city with warm sunlight in New York City.

One of the tallest buildings in the city held the name MIXTURE. It was a photo studio. Inside the building was the light and dark props, models posing behind a desired theme in the background.

A loud shatter caught everyone's attention. Liza, the in charge of the studio, turned to the photographer and tells him to continue with the shoot. She immediately walks to the dressing room of the studio where the sound came from.

Liza entered the room and looked around only to spot the glass pieces spread out on the floor. She left out a small sigh and turned to the model who was seated on the chair.

"What happened, Vanessa?" she asked softly.

"It is Ms. Wilson for you," Vanessa spat out.

"Fine. What's wrong Ms. Wilson?" Liza corrected.

"I want Ethan to take my photographs. Not some newbie!"

Ethan was also a newbie when he took your photographs in the beginning, Liza thought.

"Ms. Wilson, I am sorry but Ethan is not scheduled to come to the studio today."

"Then schedule it!" Vanessa said in a rather authoritative tone, crossing her legs.

"I cannot do that. I am the studio manager, not Ethan's," Liza tried to explain the very well known information.

"Call him! Right now!" Vanessa shouted.

"I will try to get in touch with him," Liza said and walked out of the dressing room.

Maintaining a healthy relationship with the models is difficult. But dealing with Vanessa was daunting for Liza. She did not understand how well to treat Vanessa. Vanessa is a supermodel, the top one at that. The lady had a tough personality to deal with. She was the modern-day princess.

Although being raised well by her parents, she had made some name for herself in the modeling industry. Every top fashion brand wanted to have her on board in their works. And she took every advantage from it to build her ego.

Liza sent a quick message to Ethan and got back to work. Despite that, she felt arduous during the rest of the photoshoot of other models.

After about 30 minutes, a tall figure enters the studio and Liza lets out an enormous sigh of relief. She walked towards him and gave him the How dare you! Look.

"Hey, there!" he said to her cheerfully smiling at her.

"It's not funny, Ethan!"

"I know. I got your message," he told her as he gave her a hug.

"I will warn her not to trouble you again." With that, he walks towards the dressing room.

Ethan Francis is a professional photographer. He is good looking, tall, sharp-featured, well built, has a balanced weight, and intelligent. He was the man any woman would say yes to. And also the go-to man, for all the wannabe models and the supermodels to be.

Aspiring models who don't live in the major modeling market of New York gets his appointment to their portfolios to be done. He was a judge in high profile fashion competitions. He had made a pretty big name for himself in the modeling, fashion, and photography world. The man who had everything kept rejecting every girl was throwing themselves at him. The reason was unknown to most of the people in the industry.

When Ethan walked inside the dressing room, all of Vanessa's assistants excused themselves from there to give them some privacy.

Looking at him in the mirror, Vanessa said, "You are late!"

"I didn't have any work here today, you must have known that by now."

"You know I only want you to take my pictures."

"That's the problem," he said to her as he walked near her chair and draping his hands on her shoulder, trying to comfort her.

"Why?" she questioned, trying her best not to melt at his touch.

"Another photographer is assigned for this project and you can't keep throwing tantrums at every photoshoot and demand for me," he tried to make her understand for the nth time.

"Then how will I ever see you? You don't meet me outside of work!"

"You know why I don't,"

"I don't!"

"Not now, Vanessa," he told her sternly.

"Promise me you will talk to me later. Then I'll get this photoshoot done."

Ethan sighed loudly and said, "Fine. Let's talk later. Come out soon, they are all waiting for you."

"Okay," she says and gets back to retouch her makeup.

Vanessa came out after a few minutes and the photoshoot began. Ethan stood in front of the screen and monitored the pictures. Vanessa is a professional model and that reflected in her pictures. Ethan was proud of her work but definitely not her work ethics.

After the photoshoot, they sat in Ethan's car. He had offered to drop her home and also he had promised to have the talk with her.

Vanessa gulped down the water and relaxed in her seat. Ethan drove past the bridge, without talking anything. They were silent for some time.

Vanessa turned to him and said, "My parents are hosting a party this weekend and you are invited."

"You know, I don't like these parties," he said softly.

Vanessa pouted, "But, you always party with your friends."

"That's different, Vanessa."

"Please, Ethan. I have already informed my parents you will be coming," she pleaded.

Ethan sighed and spoke, "How can you do that without asking me? I could have had other plans."

She didn't reply anything. She just blinked her eyes and waited for him to continue talking.

"You are not doing this again. Or else I will have to offend by not working with you ever again," he replied, eyes not moving from the road ahead.

She smiled and said, "I won't."

"You better not."

Ethan momentarily parked his car when they reached her home. Vanessa picked her bag and unbuckled the seatbelt. She leaned into him and placed a kiss on his lips. Ethan backed away.

"What are you doing?" Ethan asked. He was aware of Vanessa's liking for him. She constantly tried to get his attention and made some moves. But Ethan didn't expect her to do this.

"You know what I am doing and why I am doing," she said and left his car.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.
