Damien`s Obsession: The Billionaire Payne Brothers Chapter 1 NO.1

"Too Sexy or not sexy?"

Anxiety killed me as I stood in front of my squared dark brown mirror, staring at my reflection.

The creamy curtains of my apartment bedroom window being wide open caused sunlight to trickle in and illuminate my reflection some more. My eyes could not help but trace my own features, light greenish eyes, small heart-shaped lips to my creamy pale skin. A small sigh escaped my lips at how plain looking I was, compared to all these beautiful stunning girls that graced the university which I was attending. They were all rich too, unlike poor ole me who came from a humble home of a single mother. The only reason I was even able to afford to come and study here was that I had worked hard to be top of my high school class and earned a scholarship.

My gaze quickly moved to the little piece of paper sitting on my study desk. All those nights of sleeping late, not going out and making the university library my second home, had finally paid off.

That little paper held my final year results and stated that I had come out as Valedictorian for my software engineering degree class. I could not wait to call my mother and tell her all about it. I had done all this for her.

For you see, as a teenage girl, my mother fell in love with a man. He got her pregnant and then left her just like that. My mother`s own family kicked her out as a disgrace. So, she was left all alone having to take care of a baby. Through hard work and doing manual labor jobs like working as a maid, she did it and was able to give me a normal childhood. As normal as she could afford too. There were times where I would get kicked out of school because of unpaid school fees but my mother always found a way for me to go back and continue my studies.

All this motivated me to work hard and make sure that I could one day give her a better life too.

I had made a lot of sacrifices to do so, like having a non-existing social life and fewer friends. When it comes to dating, I had spent all my high school years single. It was only now in my final year that I had met a boy and started dating him. His name was Greg and he was my first boyfriend.

He was also the reason for my anxiety right now as I faced the mirror.

Today was the day that I was planning to finally give my body to him. I had made him wait this whole year of dating with reason. It was the fear of not wanting to lose my scholarship, in the case of accidentally getting pregnant. Like what happened to my mother. But now that I had received my results making me eligible for graduation, I was ready to take our relationship to the next level and lose my 20-year-old virginity.

Biting my bottom lip, I stared again at the mirror in turmoil while tracing my eyes on what I was currently wearing.

"Damn, you are looking hot girl! Who is the lucky man?" I turned my head and gazed at Jess, my best friend and the one whom I shared this two-bedroom apartment with. She had just entered my room to see me and was looking gorgeous as always with her light blue eyes, blonde hair and model looking figure which I always envied. Instead I was too curvy and on the plus size compared to all these slim girls everywhere. I had tried all I could from diets to slim products but nothing worked. It got to the point where I just stopped caring and started being more comfortable in my own skin.

"I am going to see Greg, my boyfriend of course," I said to her while trying to style my long light brown hair to look sexy. It had to compliment the sexy, short and lacey tight black dress outfit. One which I wore with these cute black heels. Underneath was the latest black lacey lingerie set by Victoria secret. I had pulled all the stops in order to have a great night tonight. This girl was finally getting LAID!

I was able to notice the quick fleeting annoyed look that passed Jess`s face. I knew the reason; she had always hated my boyfriend Greg and did not like him at all. She was always telling me that I could do better.

And I always replied that I loved him.

Although annoyed, she still walked up to me and helped me with my makeup. It was the reason I had sent her a text to come to my room. When it came to doing my own makeup, I totally sucked.

"There done," she said while closing the concealer shut.

"Thanks, I don't know what I would do without you."

Jess was like a sister to me, we had met and bonded from the first day of college.

I could not help but check out the beautiful art she had done with my face. I suddenly felt more beautiful as I gazed at my reflection.

"Yep, you are totally looking like a sexy bitch!" Jess added but paused by the door before leaving,

"Oh, and if you ever decide to ditch your man tonight, Susan invited us to this dope night club party." After saying that, she left not waiting for my reply. So typical of her but I knew she was just rushing to go out somewhere.

Friday night was always going out night for her. If there was a name for a woman player, then it would go to Jess. I could not even count how many men she had dated just for only this year. Once she grew tired or bored, she always discarded them and chased for a new one, like they were accessories and she was shopping.

But it was not her fault considering how stunning she was and men easily fell at her feet.

Checking the time on my hand wrist watch, I realized it was still too early as I sprayed some perfume. I had told Greg that I was coming to see him at his house at 5pm but after watching more tv to waste time, I decided to go see him. It wouldn't hurt to arrive two hours earlier considering I had nothing left to do.

So, standing up, I took my phone and an extra pair of keys to Greg`s house which he had given me. I then added a medium black coat on top as it was a bit chilly outside. While getting an edible green apple to munch on, I called for an uber. Having no job, I was never able to afford a car. I survived on transport money from the scholarship.

"Bye Jess," I shouted out to my best friend but got no reply from her room, meaning she was already gone a long time ago. I then left as my uber arrived.

In the car ride, I felt nervous. This would be my first time after all. Greg was always telling me that sex was an important part of a relationship and always sulked when I said to wait. But now I was finally ready to give it all to him. He deserved it for being the best boyfriend and waiting patiently for me. I had also taken precaution and started taking the pill too. I could not wait to finally have this special moment with my boyfriend.

"Are you going to see someone special," I came out of my thoughts upon hearing the question from my uber driver.

"Yes, I am going to see my boyfriend," I replied with a blush and realized the top part of my coat had opened, revealing the lacey dress which I was wearing.

"Lucky man," the driver said while nodding, I quickly covered up feeling embarrassed.

Luckily, the car stopped and I quickly got out after paying.

I opened the small gate to my boyfriend`s house and entered. Greg was also studying at university like me, but he instead was doing a business major considering he was inheriting his father's company after graduating. Upon reaching the door, I took out the spare key he gave me and unlocked the door.

But as I entered the house, I suddenly wished I had not entered. Everything quickly went wrong.

I thought I was waking up in the arms of Arthur, the man I loved. But as the morning light hit the Hamptons estate, the man buttoning his cuffs by the window turned around with eyes like chips of ice. It was Augustus Riddle, Arthur’s cruel younger brother, and I had just spent the night whispering confessions of love into the wrong man's ear. The night I thought was a beautiful beginning turned into a devastating nightmare. Instead of comfort, Gus treated me like a stain on his expensive carpet, scribbling a check for "services rendered" before shoving me into a dark service corridor to hide my existence from his brother. "How much does it cost to buy your silence?" He sneered, before leaving me barefoot in a torrential downpour while he drove away in a luxury Cadillac. Four years later, I am a struggling actress in Los Angeles, working double shifts as a barista just to keep the lights on. My life was finally stable until my roommate dragged me to a high-end dinner to meet her new "influential" boyfriend. The man sitting at the table, looking more arrogant and lethal than ever, was Augustus. He spent the entire night humiliating me, calling me a pathetic amateur and a social climber in front of my only friends. When I fled into the rain and collapsed on the sidewalk, skinning my knee until I bled, he watched from his car. He saw me clutching a plastic baggie containing the taped-together pieces of that four-year-old check—the only proof of my shame. He looked at me like roadkill, rolled up his window, and drove off into the dark. I couldn't understand why he was doing this. Why did he hate me enough to crush me, yet remember that I couldn't handle the smell of cigarette smoke? Why did he leave me bleeding in the street, only to send expensive medical supplies and coffee to my door the very next morning? "I'm moving out." I told my roommates, realizing that Gus Riddle didn't just want to destroy me; he wanted to haunt me. I grabbed my suitcase and walked out with eighty dollars to my name, finally ready to disappear into the city before he could burn the rest of my life to the ground.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.
