As a single mother struggling to feed herself and her child Janette never had time for love, low salary, bad working hours and school fees seemed to be enough for her. At least that is what she thought. Afterall, even her own family made it very clear when they threw her out when she was 5 months pregnant. Janette's life completely changes in a blink of an eye the same time she believed it was going to end.
Chapter 1 The Beginning.
She sat by the bench watching children run around and smilling at one another with no care in the world. Looking at a paper on her hand showing positive results from a pregnancy test she got at the hospital, all because she was feeling dizzy and couldn't keep anything in her the whole day.
She remembered having sex without using protection and even talking a morning-after pill, which obviously didn't work.
Not that it mattered but she wanted to have a child after finishing college but here she was, pregnant, twenty years old and first year at college.
"I can't wait any longer", he whispered as he left soft kisses all over her throat. Janette and Makka had been in a relationship for five years and they knew each other all their lives. It was like one of those high school sweethearts stories that left people in 'Aaawww'. So she was not worried about telling him.
Janette looked at her watch and it was already quarter past five, the time when most classes finished, perfect time to meet up with the love of her life and share the good news although she had a feeling that her family wont be pleased with it, having Makka on her side will make it all right.

"Hey babe, Didn't see you during class swap...everything ok?", Makka asked as he pulled her in a hug. "Lets go inside and talk...I have something i want to show you...please promise you wont be mad at me", she said, her voice slightly shaking. He looked at her confusion all over his face as they entered their small apartment.
She waited for him to get settled on the twin sofa then gave him the piece of paper. His expression was pure shock and he remained silent for almost forever.
Janette felt tears running from her eyes, she was expecting him to be happy, besides he always talked about having children and since they were together she believed that was meant for the two of them.
"Makka, please say something",she cried. He remained silent, the only thing he did was stand up and leave the apartment going god knows where.
The reaction left her with only one choice, calling her best friend. Although Nelly was he bestfriend she never got along with Makka. They would fight all the time and sometimes Janette was forced to pick a side, something that made her keep a distance between the two of them, she would only hang with one at a time.
"Hi, I-need-you-pl-ea-se", she cried over the phone making Nelly panic and rush to her appartment without asking if Makka would be there.
After hanging up, she tried calking Makka with no luck. With tears still rolling down her cheeks, the only thing she could so was hope.
Hope that Makka would be back and say he only left because he was overwhelmed.
Hope that he would hold her and promise her that she was the mother of his children as he was saying everytime the spoke about the future.
Suddenly she felt warm arms wrapping around her and telling her all will be ok, and she didn't have to explain anything until she was ready. And that was Nelly to her, someone who will always be there and never push her into doing things she didnt want to.
They remained in the sofa until she finally stopped crying and picked up the results paper and handing it to Nelly.
"You showed him this?", she asked her friend looking at her with so much sadness, the only thing Janette could do was nod.
"Let me guess, he bailed ?", anger was clearly visible all over Nelly's face at this point.
Janette did not realise that she fell asleep on the sofa, only woke when she heard shouting from the bedroom. With little strength she had, she made her way to the bedroom door only to find Nelly fighting with Makka. It was a different fight, not the usual when they would just exchange words but Nelly was so angry that she kept throwing things at him whenever he didn't respond.
To her surprise, it didn't make Makka stop packing his stuff fron their shared closet. Her eyes grew wide as she stepped into the room making Nelly stare in shock. "You-you're-leaving me?", she asked in a very small voice but audible as Makka stopped, his back facing her and turned slowly. "Babe, i can't ask you to abort nor can i be a father right now...besides i'm being tansferred to main branch, my father wants me to help him with his company", he said avoiding eye contact making it ver easy for Janette to know he was lying, apart from knowing that his father will allow him to work after he graduated with honors.
"You're lying, so what happens now...you know my family will throw me out, you know i need you...w-w-why-are-you-leaving-me?", Janette cried hoping her tears would make him change his mind. It was pointless.
"Look, the rent covers the rest of the year and-", he was cut off by a slap from Nelly that pushed him over the age making him shake with anger.
He didn't say a word, he picked up his bag and left the two friends in sorrow.
Janette felt lost, especially after telling her mother about it expecting to at least get a mother's love but that made things even worse.
"When the semister break arrives we will have a chat, face to face...because am not going to be the one to tell your father about this", she didn't even manage to reply when her mother hang up.
Although Nelly was always there to comfort her, Janette still felt like a budern. Something in her told her that all will be ok. She only needed to hold on alittle longer. She never knew where it came from but she felt the pull and decided to listen to it.
