Chapter 1 ASPIRANT

"One, Two, Three ..." Lane looked at the people walking on the catwalk one by one. "Fix it ladies! It's like you don't eat! Didn't you have breakfast?"

Tall, slim and beautiful women walk one by one wearing the clothes of previous fashion events organized by the Brightest Queens Modeling Agency. The newly discovered models are training in preparation for PMC's Grand Winter Collection to be released in Europe and North America. It is owned by top designer Betty Madrid, the most popular in the country and well known in the international scene. Patty Madrid Creations is known by high class and celebrities here and abroad. Her designs cater to those from middle class to upper class levels.

"I said, go on a diet but I didn't tell you not to eat. That's what you're going to do!" the gay top trainer of BQMA models is still screaming. Everyone who went through her intense training became famous, not only in runway modeling but also in print and TV ads. There are still some who have penetrated showbiz and married business tycoons, so many women dream of being included in the rosters of top fashion models of BQMA.

One of the models lost her balance while wearing her 5-inch heels. "Aaaaahh! Ouc...." the model sat down then rubbed her sprained leg.

"There! Because you're being stupid again, Dina. It's only 5-inches and you can't walk properly? Should I make you wear a Lady Gaga's shoes so that you'll be completely paralyzed and replace you?" Sighed Lane.

"Don't do it, Mama. I'll be fine, too. I just need ice pack and a bandage." Dina stood up. She was supported by other models who also stopped ramping because the formation was ruined. She can't give up now because this has been her dream ever since, and now that she has the opportunity to be recognized in the fashion world, she will not back down from the fight. She will improve so that she can achieve what she desires.

"Go ahead, go to the clinic. Hurry up! If that doesn't heal until tomorrow, I'll replace you! Many women dream of going through my training! Let's take a break first! Eat first! You all look hungry!" Lane was already shivering with stress. "You're all giving me stress!"

The models first left the runway and headed to the Pantry for lunch.

"Are you alright?" Sarah asked Dina as she held her to be escorted to the clinic.

"Yeah, tell us if you need anything or if you just want, we'll rush you to the hospital," Winona said.

Dina nodded. "Yes, I'm fine. I will just rest for a while." She took off her shoes and walked to the clinic. She walked towards it bare foot.

The nurse applied the remedy to her right foot and advised her to rest for at least a day. Only a minor sprain occurred.

"Miss, may I use the clinic's restroom?" Dina pointed to the restroom at the clinic.

"Oh my gosh, that's broken, it's clogged because someone doesn't know how to throw napkins properly. Is it okay to throw tissue in the toilet bowl?" The nurse shook her head. " Just use the one on the lower ground floor."

"Okay thank you." The clinic is on the 1st floor, she will only go down one floor. She thinks she can manage it. She left the clinic using the slippers provided for patients.

Dina just used the exit stairs down to the lower ground floor since it's just next to the clinic, better than walking to the elevator at the other end of the hallway. She reached the lower ground floor of the PMC building even though it was difficult to walk. She headed to the restroom just next to the exit door.

The hallway was a bit gloomy, no one is there on the lower ground floor. It's like a stock room and a warehouse of old designs, manequins and fabrics.

Dina opened the door of the restroom. It was so dark. She turned on the switch on the right side of the wall.

"Eeehh!" Dina fell on the ground out of fear.

She was shocked on what she saw. A woman on the floor of the restroom is covered with blood.

Dina screamed hysterically. She stumbled back to the exit door and rqn back to the first floor.

"There's a dead woman downstairs!" Dina shouted as she pointed to the exit door.

The guards and other people ran to the Exit. The girl fainted from fear.

"Dina!" Fellow trainees approached her to help her. They carried her and sent her to the clinic.

For seventeen years, I was the crown jewel of the Kensington empire, the perfect daughter groomed for a royal future. Then, a cream-colored envelope landed in my lap, bearing a gold crest and a truth that turned my world into ice. The DNA test result was a cold, hard zero percent-I wasn't a Kensington. Before the ink could even dry, my parents invited my replacement, a girl named Alleen, into the drawing room and treated me like a trespasser in my own home. My mother, who once hosted galas in my honor, wouldn't even look me in the eye as she stroked Alleen's arm, whispering that she was finally "safe." My father handed me a one-million-dollar check-a mere tip for a billionaire-and told me to leave immediately to avoid tanking the company's stock price. "You're a thief! You lived my life, you spent my money, and you don't get to keep the loot!" Alleen shrieked, trying to claw the designer jacket off my shoulders while my "parents" watched with clinical detachment. I was dumped on a gritty sidewalk in Queens with nothing but three trunks and the address of a struggling laborer I was now supposed to call "Dad." I traded a marble mansion for a crumbling walk-up where the air smelled of exhaust and my new bedroom was a literal storage closet. My biological family thought I was a broken princess, and the Kensingtons thought they had successfully erased me with a payoff and a non-disclosure agreement. They had no idea that while I was hauling trunks up four flights of stairs, my secret media empire was already preparing to move against them. As I sat on a thin mattress in the dark, I opened my encrypted laptop and sent a single command that would cost my former father ten million dollars by breakfast. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves, but they forgot one thing: I'm the one who leads the pack.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
