I love you so much till my eyes and heart don't want to open up to my circumstances. The state where you are the only one and I am one of you. I don't care even if your common sense tells me to leave you. I still endure, with my character that has less trust in you. Whether my suspicion in excessive or you who really don't put me first, you choose to leave, keep your heart away from me, throw away your feelings that you used to convey to me, then you act like we were never there before.

Dear You Chapter 1 prologue

"Okay, let's end this biology lesson with a prayer. Grace, please lead the pray" said mrs.Diana, my biology teacher.

"According to individual beliefs, pray begins," said Grace leading. "Pray enough."

I packed my stationery in my bag and walked out of the classroom.

Just a few steps, a boy my age calls me, I know him. He is Wildan, my best friend.

"Are you going home?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Don't you want to hang out?"

"Where are we going?"

"I don't know. To the mall, maybe."

"I don't have money. I'm also lazy to hang out, Wil." I said softly.

"It's okay. I'll just asks Lula."

"Okay. I'll go home." I said goodbye.

"Be carefull on the road, La," said Wildan, waving his hand.

I gave my thumbs up, then walked towards the school parking lot to take my motorbike.

It didn't take long for me to arrive home, because the distance between my house and my school was not too far, maybe about two kilometers.

I saw three bicycles parked in the yard. Who's home today? I asked my self.

I parked my bike in a row with the thress bikes and entered the house.

"That's my eldest daughter," said my mom, pointing at me who was still standing in the doorway.

I saw strange man who woke up and sat down when he saw my presence. My eyes sparkled to find John, the man I liked was also among the three men who visited.

The first person I greeted was John of course. I greeted him happily. Then I shook the hand of Bram and a strange man in a grey shirt.

"He is my lil bro. his name is Arga," said Bram introducing the foreign man.

Me and Arga shake hands.

"Ella."

"Arga."

I sat next to John, purposely to seek his attention.

But John is still John. That man was forever cold and stiff. Not Arga and Bram, who seemed very enthusiastic is responding to my words. While John himself only smiled a little every time I teased him.

"John, later when I become a doctor, you must be diligent in visiting me. I'll take care of you." I said starting with my seduction sentence.

"Listen, John. Doctor girl is a dream wife, you know?" said Arga teasingly.

John's face turned bright red because of Arga's teasing.

I laugh happily because of Arga's presence. Maybe that man could be the mediator between me and John.

In my heart said, if I can melt the heart of a John, I will treat Arga two portions of jumbo meatballs. I promise.

Oh no, I almost forgot. Don't I have to have John's phone number so that my plan to melt his heart can run smoothly? But how? I'm too prestigious to be blatant.

"Arga, can I have your phone number?" I asked.

Arga who heard that became shocked. "Me?"

I nodded. Then the man started to say his number phone.

"John, can I have your phone number?" Now I dare myself to ask for his phone number.

I glanced at Arga who smiled mischievously at John as if he wanted to say that I started seducing John.

I pointed my middle finger at Arga, making the man laugh with satisfaction.

To my surprise, John actually wanted to give me his number. He even typed it himself on my cellphone.

I stick my tongue out at Arga – scoffing that I can get John's cellphone number.

"Tonight you are satisfied with your approach. I'll wait for your dating news," said Arga again teasingly.

I don't know what Arga was created as a human, why at the first meeting that man had a hobby of making me blush and his friend turning red like a boiled crab.

That's right what Arga said. At night my fingers were busy typing word for word into John's message. I'm too excited to continue to reply to messages to that hazel-eyed man.

Me: Where are u doing, John

Let's have a video call

Long enough I waited for the message reply. He's online, but why isn't replying to my messages? Am I not important to him?

Ah, come on, La. You just got the number, not the heart. He gave his number doesn't mean he likes you. Be patient a little, I thought to myself to encourage.

Okay, I'll be patient.

My heart fluttered when I saw him typing. Long time. I don't know what he wanted to say to me.

Two minutes passed, the status was still typing.

My heart is beating fast. My expectations ran wild at the thought of what this man would convey to me. Maybe he will confess his feelings? Is it as fast as that?

Tiiinggg...

Sweet John: I'm busy

U must go to sleep

I packed my smartphone. What does this mean?

After many minutes I waited, was that the only answer?

Tiiingggg...

Again a message came to my cellphone.

I excitedly opened it. But the look on my face changed when I found that the sender of the message was not John, but Arga.

Arga: Ella, it's already late. Why don't you sleep?

Ah, why is it that messages from people I don't want come in?

Tiinggg...

Another message from Arga that come in.

Arga: Haven't u slept yet?

Remember, don't sleep late at night. Tomorrow u still have additional class.

Ah, how can Arga know if I have additional class tomorrow? Did he find out about me?

But a few minutes later I remembered that I said earlier that I was currently busy preparing for the national exam and admission to state universities.

Huh, being in the late class makes me foret fast.

I closed my cellphone.

But a few minutes later, a message returned to my cellphone. Who else but Arga? It's impossible if John sent me a message right?

Arga sent a pict

I opened the photo he sent. Then a moment later I regretted it.

Why did he send me his selfie? And stupidly I spent 20 MB just to download the photo. Stupid!

I put my cellphone on the nightstand. I walked to the balcony of the house with a cup of cold milk.

From here I can see the bustle of the capital's busy and dense streets. Even on a Saturday night like this too.

I was so engrossed in enjoying the night that I didn't realize that the clock was already 11.40 p.m.

I don't care if there is still additional class tomorrow at 08.00 a.m. I can still wake up at 07.00 a.m., take a 10 minutes shower, and hurry to school.

I can definitely do the marathon tomorrow. I'm used to being like that. Getting up late is my specialty.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
