Chapter 1

"Come on Sam Will be late if we don't get on the next bus!" said Jasper as he was walking faster to the bus stop, the cold winter air passed through me lifting my hair gently, "I know Jasper", I adjusted my paste to his "but I have to remind you that you were the one that oversleeps not me", I started painting, I'm not on the best condition, what can I say I'm an artist not the star of the football team, "yeah, that may be right Sam but still will be in trouble if we miss the test we have on the first class... I think I see the bus come on just one more push RUN" Jasper broke into a quick sprint in a matter of seconds he closed the gap to the stop, "Ja... jasper wait I ca.. can´t..." I felt my leg twisting, and I started to fall I closed my eyes waiting for the pain of the crash... but it never came instead I felt soft fabric and beads, "ha?", "oh dear are you okey that was a nasty fall you almost had", "I think I twisted my ankle, thank you ma'am am...", "name is Olivia honey", she giggled a little, the lady was dressed in a nice dress a little bit out dated the dress covered must of her body, and the printing was gorgeous, she seemed like she just came out of a history book, everything form her dark long hair tie into a pony tail, to her jewelry and shoes screamed vintash, "say miss, you seem interested in my attire considering you haven stop eyeing it", she giggled again, I could feel my face warming up an I knew I was blushing, "oh... I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to stare, it´s just your look is so...", "vintash?, yeah I get that a lot, you see I'm the owner of an antique store", she helped me to get to the bus stop and on the way she continue talking, "I move recently, and open the store not too long ago, you seem to be running late so here", she pulled a card form a pocket in her dress, it was jet black with golden borders and lettering it read -Lost Memoirs, we have an item for everyone-, "you and your friend over there can come to the store that add is not a lie my store has something for everyone, would you be interested miss?", "Oh right my name is Samantha, sure sounds interesting maybe after classes are done we´ll go check it out", "wonderful Samantha, have a nice day and be careful with that ankle", she waved and then she walked away she seemed like a nice person, I was dumbfounded until the voice of Jasper snapped me back into reality, "earth to Sam, hey who was the weirdo?", "she wasn't a weirdo she helped me get up after I fall, you know something a friend would do instead of running ahead?", "yeah sorry about that, I thought the bus was here but I was wrong, come on, could you forgive this lovely young man, Samantha you highness?", "Come one, cut it out" I started laughing, jasper always knows how to make me laugh in almost any situation, we waited for a little bit and the bus showed up, I told him about Olivia and her store, "odd is there people that still buy antiques in stores?, I believe those things were done by internet nowadays", "jasper many people like antiques, she also say that she has something for everyone", "puff like it's so difficult knowing what you´ll go see first", Jasper said "you´ll go right to the section where this lady has her old timeie cameras and go wild", he started to imitate a monkey going berserk "JASPER, that's not funny", "but am I wrong?", "monkey, yes, going to see the camaras, you are right about that," I said while elbowing him on the side, "auch, okay, but you are going alone", "what? you are not coming?" "Sorry Sam but I have things to do I can't go to check out this Lady´s store with you, just take a picture with an old camera and send it to me with your phone camara", he started laughing as the bus came to an end we arrived at the campus and headed to or class room, suddenly having a test firs thing wasn't so bad the promise of a new camara was going to keep me in high spirits until the end of the day or so I hoped, funny, if I knew the tragedy that was about to be unfolded I will have never go to see the store.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.
