Playing With Violet Ashlock Chapter 1 1

Violet Ashlock

"Are you kidding me? Are you being serious?" My friend Merry said.

"Yeah.. I date that man now. Why?"

"Violet.. He's not your type." She laughed and I hissed.

"Oh come on.. You know I never want to be single. I always need someone to hook up."

"I know 10 years gap is not a problem but he's not your type. He's.. innocent." Merry said and I scowled.

"I'll end with him next week anyway.."

"Oh speaking of that.. Will you be at Harvey's party? Will you come? You know I won't come without you."

"Nah.. I skip. I'm aiming for par-"

"I know.." She cut me and I sighed.

"You are interested in him but he is not.. This is not you." She said and I laughed bitterly.

"That's my point. It's a challenge for me to get him. Get the memo?"

"Hello.. Violet! Get your head fix will you? You're not the type of woman who likes to chase guys first.. you're a girl with big ego and pride. Boys chase and lining up to get you, why waste your time for someone who has no interest in you?" Merry hissed and I nodded weakly.

"He's just.. uhmm.. different." I said as I twirled glass.

"Are you kidding me? You date for fun.. You don't want to get married right? You love this life.." She got the point.

"Well you know my dad.. He won't let me single forever. He will arrange me with someone anyway.." I rolled my eyes. Suddenly Merry's phone rang and I gestured to her to take it. I walked out from my private room to dance. I walked down and started to dance.

Waving my body carelessly and just following the beat. Suddenly I felt someone holding my waist from the back and I turned my body to find a cute light brown haired guy. I danced along with him. I don't care if I have a boyfriend.. I don't care if I cheat.. all of them are just a doll for me.

I grabbed his shirt and pulled his body to mine. I kissed him and he started roaming his hands all over my body. I opened my eyes and I saw someone that I had always expected to see for months. I pushed the guy away and walked back to my private room.

"Austin Portwalt is here.." I said and Merry looked at me with her eyes widened.

"What? This is Los Angeles in case you forgot."

"He's here.. I saw him entering the place."

"You should go!" He said and I looked to the mirror. I look okay..

"You look great! Go!" Merry pushed me out and I walked towards the dance floor again and roamed my eyes around.

"Looking for me.. Violet?" My breath got hitch when he whispered to my ear in a really seducing tone. I smirked and turned my body to him.

"What makes you think that? You know I never look for guys.. they look for me." I chuckled and trailed my finger around his chest. I looked straight to his eyes and he laughed dryly... or should I say boringly.. am I that boring for him?

"Oh really?" He trailed the back of his hand to my cheek and I felt my breath got hitch big time.

"Yeah.." I tried to keep my face straight.

"Goodluck for tonight then.." He smirked and walked away. He immediately found someone else and he kissed her straight away. What the heck!!

"Hello beautiful.." Someone slipped their arm's to me and I looked at the guy. It's Austin's friend Eduardo. He's cute and not bad but I like Austin better.

"Eduardo.. How are you?" I smirked and looked straight to his eyes.

"Pretty great.. How about you?" He asked and felt his hand roaming my body. I closed the gap between us and slowly creeped my hand inside his shirt.

"Pretty great too.." I whispered and looked up to him. I turned my body, making my back facing him. I slipped my hair to one side.

"Mind.. zipping it up?" I turned to him and smirked. He smirked sexily and zipped my dress up. He kissed my bare shoulder slowly trailing it to my neck. I moaned and I turned my head straight forward.

I saw Austin smirking with an unreadable expression at me. He was kissing the girl earlier but his eyes were looking straight at me. What game is he playing? He knew that I wanted him but he's playing with me..

You know I hate playing games..

I turned my body back to Eduardo and pushed him away. I walked back to my private room. I took my bag and got ready to leave. Merry will go home with someone anyway so I'll just leave. My mood dropped seeing Austin.

I walked out from the club and took out my car key. Walking towards the VIP parking lot unlocking my car key.

"Leaving so soon.. Violet?" I hate when he always said my name like it was the most sexy thing in the world. I ignored him and got into my car but before I could close the door.. he held it.

"Give me Eduardo's number.. I like him." I looked straight to his eyes and he smirked.

"Do you really want him?" He asked and that got me big time. I got out and looked at him coldly. I closed the gap between us and I put my index finger on his cheek. I slowly trailed down my finger to his neck.. chest.. abs

"What's with the question, Portwalt?" I asked and looked back to his eyes again.

"Interesting.." He said and I rolled my eyes. I got back inside my car and closed the door.

"Come to Ellie's party next week, wear something sexy." He said and then he left.

Yeah right.. Like I will come. I know what you're trying to do.. I'm not a fool..

"I'll show you that you can't control me.. I will be the one who controls you until you can't let me out from your sight.. not even a second."

I thought I was waking up in the arms of Arthur, the man I loved. But as the morning light hit the Hamptons estate, the man buttoning his cuffs by the window turned around with eyes like chips of ice. It was Augustus Riddle, Arthur’s cruel younger brother, and I had just spent the night whispering confessions of love into the wrong man's ear. The night I thought was a beautiful beginning turned into a devastating nightmare. Instead of comfort, Gus treated me like a stain on his expensive carpet, scribbling a check for "services rendered" before shoving me into a dark service corridor to hide my existence from his brother. "How much does it cost to buy your silence?" He sneered, before leaving me barefoot in a torrential downpour while he drove away in a luxury Cadillac. Four years later, I am a struggling actress in Los Angeles, working double shifts as a barista just to keep the lights on. My life was finally stable until my roommate dragged me to a high-end dinner to meet her new "influential" boyfriend. The man sitting at the table, looking more arrogant and lethal than ever, was Augustus. He spent the entire night humiliating me, calling me a pathetic amateur and a social climber in front of my only friends. When I fled into the rain and collapsed on the sidewalk, skinning my knee until I bled, he watched from his car. He saw me clutching a plastic baggie containing the taped-together pieces of that four-year-old check—the only proof of my shame. He looked at me like roadkill, rolled up his window, and drove off into the dark. I couldn't understand why he was doing this. Why did he hate me enough to crush me, yet remember that I couldn't handle the smell of cigarette smoke? Why did he leave me bleeding in the street, only to send expensive medical supplies and coffee to my door the very next morning? "I'm moving out." I told my roommates, realizing that Gus Riddle didn't just want to destroy me; he wanted to haunt me. I grabbed my suitcase and walked out with eighty dollars to my name, finally ready to disappear into the city before he could burn the rest of my life to the ground.

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.
