My ‘Role Model’ Husband! The agony of a Mother, Wife, and Friend. Chapter 1 My 'Role Model' Husband! The agony of a Mother, Wife, and Friend.

Themba Khumalo is a handsome well-accomplished man; he is married to a beautiful woman called Fezile. Themba and Fezile were blessed by three beautiful children; their firstborn, Bongani and Babalwa who are twins plus the young one, Thando. Bongani and Babalwa just turned eighteen years old while Thando is eleven years.

The Khumalos are a very rich family, their house is a beautiful mansion on a hill and they lived in an expensive suburb. Their children went to the best private schools around their suburb. Themba and Fezile are the envy of the town, the perfect couple. They are well known in their church and the community at large; they donate so much to their church and helped all those who asked for help from them.

Fezile works as a Lawyer in one of the best Law Firms in the country, that's how she met Themba and they fell in love. Themba is a businessman. He was a lawyer by profession but after practicing for about ten years, he decided to start his own business. His business grew at a rapid speed and he opened up other branches in different provinces of the country.

Themba rarely spent time with his family; he is always away on business trips outside the country or at his other business branches in other provinces. Because of this; Themba compensated for his absence from his family with expensive gifts to his children and wife; his family had everything money can buy. Whatever his family asked for, he provided it for them.

Themba had tenders from government and from private sectors; his business was well known to many. He employed lots of people and also helped unemployed youths in his neighborhood by providing internships and placing them in his company as employees.

Themba's wife, Fezile, is doing well too, she is a prominent lawyer and she does some of her work pro bono; she is a human rights lawyer, who is always ready to fight for those who have been oppressed by others.

Themba and Fezile's children are high achievers in school just like their parents. Bongani aka Bongz is the head-boy in his school while Babalwa aka Babz leads the debating team; she is an eloquent and very knowledgeable young lady. Thando is still in Primary School and he plays soccer in his school's first team. When you visit Themba and Fezile's home, all you see are certificates, medals and awards won by their children.

Though the Khumalos have all that money can buy, they remained a humble family. Only those who know them can call them rich but a stranger won't call them that; they are down to earth and very good with people. Their children are well-behaved and loved by their peers.

Themba uses his free time with his family well; though it is rare for him to spend time with his family when he gets that chance, he will make it count.

Sometimes you will find him with his children riding bicycles on the streets or playing soccer in their compound. He will take his family out for dinners or for short vacations. His children and wife adore him.

Though Bongz was loved by his peers at school; things changed when one student joined the High School. His name is Mandla. Mandla is a talented bully, he joined the school in his final year of High School but he managed to make an impact in the school as a bully.

Many of his fellow students are scared of him. He tried so hard to bully Bongz but since Bongz is the head-boy, Mandla cannot get away with it, he ends up being punished by the principal for disrespecting the head-boy.

One day Mandla hid some drugs inside Bongz's bag, he then alerted the teachers that Bongz is using drugs at school. It was chaotic at the school, the police were called in and Bongz was suspended from school; even his post as a head-boy was taken away from him.

Bongz pleaded his innocence but with no luck, he was suspended for two weeks. He told his mother the entire story and the bad things Mandla has been doing to him.

Fezile tried to reason with teachers but it was like talking to a wall. This incident hurt Bongz's family a lot; especially his twin sister, Babz. Babz couldn't believe that her well-behaved brother was suspended because of the newbie, Mandla.

Babz decided to go underground; with the help of her friends, they managed to prove Bongz's innocence. One of the students took a video of Mandla hiding drugs into Bongz's bag; this helped in proving Bongz's innocence.

Bongz's suspension was stopped and he was reinstated as the head-boy. Mandla was suspended from the school for a full month and also the police got on his case, they wanted to know where he got the drugs from. This angered Mandla's family.

Mandla stays with his mother, Amanda, and his fifteen-year-old sister, Akhona. Mandla's mother was a stay-at-home mother. She is the only surviving child of her rich father. She is living large; this is because she is getting monetary support from the father of her children and from her own father who spoils her. She just wakes up in the morning, beautifies herself, and goes for breakfasts, lunches, massages, shopping sprees, etc with her friends.

Amanda has never been married but she has a man who fathered her children. Amanda is living alone with her two children in a big house without the father of her children; no one knows who he is because she has never introduced him to anyone, not even her loving father.

Amanda and her children used to stay in a different province where her father is, but she moved to this side where the Khumalos are just a few months back. Her father was getting on her nerve by asking who the father of her children was and also trying to discipline her children. She didn't want anyone to interfere with her children.

Many people think that she moved here after her divorce but all that are rumors, no one knows her truth. Her children too don't talk about their father that much; all they say is that he abandoned them and went abroad.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.
