Chapter 1 One

Tracy "Sorry I have to take this." My husband said leaving the bedroom and I watched as the love of my life left the room to pick his call. I couldn't have wished for any other person, Alex was one of the best men in the world and I would definitely say yes to him over and over again, he is amazing and he make me feel amazing too.

The perfect gentleman doesn't exist, but Alex was the perfect definition of one, blue eyes that always seem to see all, black hair that makes me want to run my hand through it all the time, and to top it all he was caring, he made me feel like a princess, always pampering me like he had no other thing to do, he corrected me whenever I was wrong, but he always did that with love. I met Alex two months ago at the Cafe where I used to work. Before I met him I was just an ordinary girl trying to prove to my family that I could live without having to rely on them or without them treating me like a child. I was always a shy girl, through school I was always bullied and my brothers always had to defend me, it became an habit, they decided I should not get a job far from home, the only job I got that was close to our home was in a Cafe but they didn't mind, they insisted I take it, and they would take care of the rest of my bill, but I wanted to prove them wrong, even though I was not earning much, I wanted to show them I could work and use my money wisely without having to rely on them. I remember the day I met Alex clearly, it was on a Saturday, I was supposed to be off work but I had to swap shifts with one of my co-workers. I remember him coming in to ask for a latte and the smile he flashed me when I gave him what he ordered for. I found him beside my car when my shift ended. "Hello pretty" he had said "Hi" I had replied blushing profusely "My name is Alex." He said stretching his hand for a handshake "My name is Tracy." "I was wondering if you'd like to go get some ice cream when you off." "Um.... I don't know, I'm quite busy" I said guardedly. "Come on, I know you are not actually busy, I have to admit I've been kind of stalking you, please don't get me wrong I don't have any bad intentions, just that I like you." He said blushing like a lady, I took a liking immediately, that was the first time I was noticing him even though he told me he has been stalking me. We went for more than an ice cream date, we went for more dates than I can remember, I knew almost everything about him, he does business, the only issue then was his family, whenever I asked he waved it off or he tells me he is practically an orphan. A month and few days after we met, he asked me to marry him, I took him to my family but they refused saying I was too young and they were not going to let me marry someone who does not talk about his family. I was twenty already and that didn't sit well with me, I got mad and suggested we elope, Alex was not too happy with the idea, and he told me how the idea could affect us, but he succumbed to my will eventually. It didn't take long for him to get us a house in Florida, we planned it carefully and eloped, we got married that afternoon and travelled to Florida. "I'm done baby." The man I've come to love and choose said strolling inside, I noticed his phone call was quite lengthy but I refused to dwell on it, it's our wedding night and I was not going to let anything ruin it. "I see, are you hungry?" I asked trying to get off the bed, but he pulled me back "Yes and no." He said looking at me like I was some kind of meal, it was then I realized what he meant and as a willingly wife I obliged, at a point he seemed reluctant but I waved it off as him being careful since it was my first time. I woke up the next morning and stretched my hand to my husband's side of the bed, but he was not there, I stood up from the bed trying to get over the soreness I felt all over, I checked the bathroom but he was not there, then I went to the sitting room where I found some bills on the table and a neatly folded paper on top. Fear gripped me and I prayed it was not what I was thinking, I unfolded the paper and read it over and over again, but it didn't change like I prayed it would. Dear Tracy Trust me, I had to leave for our own good, I'd be back my love and I pray you'd understand that this is so important that I have to leave, believe me, I love you too much to tamper with your heart. There is an amount of 5000 dollars and beside is an ATM card whose code is 1306, there is an amount of a million dollars in the account, I'd be back soon and once I'm back there would be no one that can separate us. I love you Alex. I crumbled to the floor allowing the tears to fall, reality came crashing down on me like a building with no solid foundation, what my family warned me about was what actually happened. Our marriage wasn't even up to 24 hours and I was already left with no one to console me as I cried my eyes out. Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.
