Chapter 1 BIRTH OF CHIRA

The birds were singing, the wind whoring.

A man with the name Dolo is sleeping, his wife Donna is pregnant.

Dolo POV

The singing of the birds and whoring of the wind woke me up. I sat up on my bed then looked at the small clock that stood on the wall, it was just six a.m.

"Why do I have to be awake by this time?" I ask myself turning back to the bed to sleep.

I didn't get enough rest last week due to my work load but it would be different now because I have no work to do.

I laid my head on the mattress to sleep but I couldn't get any sleep so I looked out of the window. Then I remembered my wife Dinna who is pregnant of our second child after we lost our first child.

I got off the bed. I put on a thick cloth and a black jean, wore my canvas and left the house.

I entered my bike and zoomed off to Dinna's parent house.

Dinna POV

He arrived past seven, the baby was kicking hard.

"I can't lose this child, Dolo." I said to my husband, "Please be fast." I said as he carried me into the house of the Native doctor close to my parents house.

He didn't have the money he would be asked to pay by modern doctor so he chose to use our native doctor.

The native doctor gave me a leaf to chew. I collected the leaf from the native doctor and began to chew.

Some minutes later,

"We would begin the process now." The native doctor said making me lay my back on the mattress he had placed on the floor.

"Dolo, hold her hands." The native doctor said and Dolo came over to hold both of my hand. Then the native doctor started the process.

"Push!!" The doctor called out.

"Uhmm!." I screamed as I pushed.

Five minutes later the baby was out.

I smiled as the native doctor handed the baby over to his helper to clean up.

Dolo POV

I kept rubbing her hand to keep her warm after she gave birth. She finally let go of my hand.

" My love, do you want anything?" I asked her seeing the changes on her face.

"Water, I want water." She said in a faint voice.

Her parents were outside, they were both aged while my parents were no more.

Her mother brought with her a bottle water which she opened. She gave the bottle water to Dinna who drank a little then laid her head on my chest.

The doctor and his helper came out with the baby girl and I took her.

I looked at Dinna then at her parents.

I looked into the cute little eyes staring at me and smiled, I them handed her to Dinna.

Days later,

Dolo and Dinna along with Dinna's parent were in the baby's ceremony where the priest would tell what the baby destiny is and they would choose a suitable name for the baby.

Dinna POV

The ceremony started as the priest placed some milk into my baby's mouth.

My baby moved her mouth and the priest placed her legs on the mat so that she could stand.

My baby looked at me almost in tears.

"Dolo" The priest called my husband.

"Pa" My husband said.

"Dinna" The priest also called me.

"Pa" I said.

We both went towards the priest.

The priest handed us the baby and used his wooden fan to wave the baby who kept smiling.

"Chira." The priest said and we looked at him.

He then continued, "Yes she shall be called Chira, she is going to be the tiger of her generation." He smiled looking at the baby who smiled then continued, "She is going to rule her world, rule her territory, she is also going to be a great warrior." He said smiling then called CHIRA holding up his staff.

Chira began to cry and I held her to myself.

She was so beautiful, she looked like her father's grandmother who was a warrior in those days.

Chira gave a sneeze. I carried her into the room to give her suck after which I allowed her rest for sometimes before laying her on the wooden cot to sleep.

I went into the bathroom to take my shower, I heard Chira cry and immediately stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to the wooden cot where I laid her.

Dolo POV

I heard Chira's cry and went into the room. I saw Dinna in the room giving her suck. Chira looked up from her mother to me and smiled.

Dinna also looked at me and smiled. Knowing that all was well, I went out of the room.

Dinna POV

I kept giving her suck until she took her face off me.

I laid her back after some minutes in the cot and retreated to the bathroom when I again heard Chira's cry.

"What is wrong with Chira." I said to myself as I came out of the bathroom and carried her for some while thinking she would sleep but she refused to sleep.

I was so tired, I decided to have my bath very early next morning.

I looked at Chira's cute eyes telling her goodnight.

Dolo came into the room yawning.

Chira increased her cry.

I handed her over to Dolo but she didn't stop crying.

Dolo wanted to drop her in the cot but she grabbed his T shirt collar not wanting to let go of him.

"Okay baby Chira we would all go out." Dolo said.

We came out of the room and Chira stopped crying.

My parents had gone to their house so we were the only one left.

Chira smiled at her father.

Dolo checked his pocket then shocked his head.

He told me he wants to go bring his phone from inside the room and I nodded.

He handed Chira to me and started walking towards the room.

Chira began to cry louder than before.

Dolo POV

I walked towards the room and heard Chira cry. I looked at her and smiled. I continued walking towards the room and finally got to the room door.

I opened the door and Chira's cry increased but I took courage and went into the room.

I looked at the room and immediately the door closed. I went back to open the door then turned to look at the room and immediately fainted.

Dinna POV

He fainted and I carried Chira with me so she won't cry but she continued crying.

I ran to my husband with Chira's hand rapped around my neck. I felt his pulse, he was still breathing. I wanted to know what in the room made him faint.

I opened the room door slowly and felt Chira's hand covering my eyes.

I tried taking off her hands from my eyes but her hand became too huge for me to take off.

I felt strange about Chira's hand been huge all of a sudden.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

I lived as the "scarred ghost" of the Stephens penthouse, a wife kept in the shadows because my facial burns offended my billionaire husband’s aesthetic. For years, I endured Kason’s coldness and my family's abuse, a submissive puppet who believed she had nowhere else to go. The end came with a blue folder tossed onto my silk sheets. Kason’s mistress was back, and he wanted me out by sunset, offering a five-million-dollar "silence fee" to go hide my face in the countryside. The betrayal cut deep when I discovered my father had already traded my divorce for a corporate bailout. My step-sister mocked my "trashy" appearance at a high-end boutique, while the sales staff treated me like a common thief. At home, my father threatened to cut off my mother's life-saving medicine unless I crawled back to Kason to beg for a better deal. I was the girl who took the blame for a fire she didn't start, the wife who worshipped a man who never looked her in the eye, and the daughter used as a human bargaining chip. I was supposed to be broken, penniless, and desperate. But the woman who stood up wasn't the weak Elease Finch anymore; she was Phoenix, a tactical predator with a $500 million secret. I signed the divorce papers without a single tear, walked past my stunned husband, and wiped the Finch family's bank accounts clean with a few taps on my phone. "Your money is dirty," I told Kason with a cold smile. "I prefer clean hands." The cage is open, the hunt has begun, and I’m starting with the people who thought a scar made me weak.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."
