Ever since she was adopted into the Newell family, Sheila had been tormented by her adoptive mother and elder sister, who treated her like a lowly slave. Struggling and strapped for cash, Sheila agreed to lose her virginity to a disgusting old lecher in exchange for money to cover her dearest friend's medical bills. However, the man that she ended up sleeping with turned out to be a handsome gentleman who promised to marry her as a result of their night together. Gerald Lamont, the wealthiest man in the city, went to Sheila's house the very next day. However, to Sheila's horror, he proposed not to her, but to her elder sister, Winnie, who looked just like her. How did that happen? Worse yet, he didn't seem to remember Sheila at all. He even accused her of being a vain woman with ulterior motives. However, as time passed, Gerald gradually realized that Winnie was quite different from the woman he had slept with that fateful night. Would Gerald uncover the secret of the Newell family? Was Winnie really the woman he wanted to marry? If so, how come he couldn't seem to resist the urge to protect Sheila? If the truth was revealed, which lady would he choose?
Chapter 1 The Deal
Standing outside the presidential suite of a hotel in Soulas were two women.
One was slender and beautiful, while the other's face was contorted in anger.
"Sheila, as long as you go in and sleep with that fat bastard tonight, you won't have to worry about your brother's medical bills for the first stage of treatment," Winnie Newell hissed, yanking at the other woman's hair violently.
Hearing this, Sheila Newell, stopped struggling and bit her lower lip anxiously.
She was the adopted daughter of the Newell family. Because she looked very similar to the Newell's biological daughter, Winnie, she had been hated and humiliated by the latter ever since she moved into their home. It was normal for Sheila to be abused like this, but this time, Winnie had gone too far.
Winnie was actually asking her to sell her body like a prostitute!
But thinking about her terminally ill brother, Ivan York, Sheila smiled bitterly and finally nodded. "Fine, I'll do it." Although Ivan was not her biological younger brother, she had been treating him as one.
Trembling slightly, Sheila reached for the door knob to the presidential suite and opened the door.
The room was dimly lit.
The darkness and eerie silence magnified her panic tenfold.
Sheila clenched her fists and walked inside furtively. She was so nervous that all the color drained from her face.
Trying to keep calm, she fumbled in search of the bed. Suddenly, the strong smell of alcohol wafted into her nose as the shadow of a tall person shrouded her. Sheila was so scared that she didn't even dare to breathe.
"Who let you in here?" The man's magnetic and hoarse voice rang in her ears.
Sheila swallowed and forced herself to calm down.
But before she could come up with an answer, the man picked her up impatiently and threw her on the bed.
In the blink of an eye, his burning hot body climbed on top of her and his dry lips were pressed against hers.
The man's sudden attack put her in a daze. She was unable to react at all. She could do nothing but lie there lifelessly until the man sucked away all of the air in her lungs.
Feeling suffocated, Sheila could no longer pretend to be calm and pushed the man's chest hard.
But the man's big hands pinned her wrists down.
"Don't worry. I'll be responsible for you."
The cold words jolted Sheila back to reality. Thinking of Winnie's orders, she finally gave up resisting and let the man do whatever he wanted.
Sheila squeezed her eyes shut and held back her tears, clenching the sheets underneath her and biting her lips to endure the suffering.
How she wished all this were a dream!
When the man was finished, he finally rolled off of her.
It didn't take long before he fell into a deep sleep.
After making sure that the man was asleep, she climbed out of bed stiffly and quickly put on her clothes.
Just as she was about to leave, she paused and turned to look at the man on the bed dubiously.
Didn't Winnie say that he'd be a fat and ugly man?
But the sleeping man was incredibly fit. His features were nearly perfect, as though he was carved by a master.
Did she sleep with the wrong person?!
But she pushed her doubts to the back of her mind. Anyway, she had done what Winnie asked her to do.
Sheila quickly turned off the lights and quietly exited the room. Once outside, she took out her phone and dialed Winnie's number.
"It's done. You promised me..." Sheila's voice trailed off. She felt too embarrassed to finish the words. It made her sound like a cheap slut.
Winnie's sharp and shrill voice sounded from the other end of the line. "Ivan's medical fees have been sorted out. If you let another soul find out about what happened tonight, I'll kill your brother myself."
Without waiting for a response, she hung up.
Sheila stared at her phone blankly. The strange, tingling feeling in her body kept reminding her of what had just happened. Winnie didn't have to worry about Sheila telling others about this. The latter didn't want others to know about tonight either.
Not long after Sheila left, Winnie, dressed in a body-hugging dress with a slit up to the side, quietly opened the door of the presidential suite.
