Jessie is a college graduate with her while life planned out for her. That is until she met him... the stranger at the bar

Chapter 1 Jessie

Jessie mounted the steps ready to receive her degree, she steadied her balance as nervousness swarmed over her, deeply regretting the high heels she had chosen to wear that day. As she approached the Dean she stumbled followed by a gasp from the crowd, the floor was coming up to meet her at a rapid pace. Mercifully the Dean stepped forward and steadied her just in time. Sheepishly she accepted the qualification and slumped off stage, her face beetroot with embarassment. She caught Rosies eyes and saw her friend was stiffling a fit of giggles.

Jessie had never been particularly graceful, once during her high school prom, she'd tripped on the hem of her dress, flying forward and giving her poor date a bloody nose. Needless to say the night they'd planned didn't go ahead after this!

It was this same clumsiness that had led her to meet Rosie, during freshers week she'd headed to the local bar, the queue was two people deep so she decided to get a couple of drinks to save queuing again. Whilst working her way out of the crowds she'd tripped over someone's foot and sent the drinks flying all down Nancy Pratts blouse. Nancy proceeded to give her a telling too in front of everyone, if it hadn't been for Rosie saying, "Give it a rest Nancy, anyone can see it was an accident!" she might've left college then and there. After this incident her and Rosie were inseparable, they shared everything from dinners to essays. However they couldn't be more different, Rosie enjoyed spending her weekends on numerous dates whereas Jessie preferred to be curled up with a book. It wasn't that Jessie didn't find the idea of going on dates fun, she was much too shy and avoided male attention.

Jessie plonked down on the seat next to her friend and let out a low sigh, "I knew I should've worn flat shoes". Rosie unable to contain the giggles anymore let out a loud shrieky laugh, much to the annoyance of the Dean who scowled in their direction.

"Don't worry, no-one noticed expect me" she whispered. Rosie was always able to make her feel better. Jessie scoffed but didn't reply, choosing instead to concentrate on the degree ceremony. Nancy Pratt had just stepped onto the stage, gliding across in perfect precision looking so graceful. "What a b***h!" Jessie whispered to her friend who nodded in enthusiasm.

Ever since that night in the bar, Nancy had been out to get them, she'd very nearly got to them once, telling a senior lecturer that she'd seen Jessie with her phone during an exam. All allegations were dropped but boy was she looking forward to seeing the last of that nasty piece of work.
