Chapter 1 Allyssa's predicament

It was a sunny day in the month of March due to the hot season, and all the clocks were striking thirteen.

Allyssa laid on her bed so tired and frustrated as the sunny air blew into her room and sent shivers down her spine, yet she was still burning hot and fuming with anger. She felt like pouring down those annoying words and bad lucks she had been experiencing on a scape goat at that moment.

She glanced around the room from side to side as she stared at each and every newspaper scattered on the reading table, the floor and on her bed then her eye came across job vacancies. She had sent her application letter to each of the companies after which she circled them out with a red pen, hoping to get a response.

Though some of the companies had already regretted her, while some gave a depressing response to her.

As a matter of fact, she felt like she was cursed, or probably she was destined not to ever get a good opportunity in life. She was so unfortunate when it came to a lot of things , most especially getting a job which is the main reason she was jobless at the moment.

She had lost her parents in a gas accident when I was 11.

Vividly, she could remember that both her father and mother had gone to work and never returned but news got to her from her uncle that they died in a gaseous accident ND could not survive it.

She started fending for her self with the little she could do until her dad's brother took away her father's house and properties and she started living in the streets, to be sincere, street life was a living hell for her with the fact that she was a girl.

She tried so hard and got her self a scholarship in college where she got her Bachelor in Computer science, so it really helped her that she did not have to bother about paying her school fees except for her feeding and other necessities she needed.

Years passed and she graduated from college, but then that was when the worse happened, she could not get a reliable job even with her great certificate and good GPA.

She had almost given up on life but then she just had to find something doing to support her self. She barely fed, paid paid rent, and could not cope, she would always say.... 'I can not even help my self, so how the heck am I going to survive'

She spent late night trying to work codes and decode them hoping that a company will pick her, she was so good at her profession but it seemed like life had turned it's back on her.

As time passed, she felt suicide was the best option, not been able to fend for her self was the worst thing that happened to her and it made her miss her parents more.

If only they were there with her, she would not be experiencing the hard phases of life.

She was sent out of her apartment on several occasions because of due rents, she was so devastated and cried so hard because no one was there to support her.

Luckily, by chance she came across an online job where she got the chance to answer surveys and get paid. She would say, it was quite a good start, every thing was moving well until two months ago when she did not receive her salary from the online job because they folded.

Her main focus was just to get a decent job.

Beep beep

Beep beep

Allyssa turned her head facing the direction where her phone vibrated from them she picked up the phone to know who the caller.

Of course it was only one person- her saviour and best friend.

She glaced with a teary eyes at the phone screen then swiped the green icon as she took the phone close to her ear and placing it firmly.

"Hey Allyssa, What are you up to???" The caller spoke up from the other side of the phone.

"Nothing much, Just checking out some newspapers, you know what I mean Hailey" Allyssa replied her softly as she placed her left hand at the back of her neck, massaging softly.

"I perfectly understand but I think you need a break Allyssa, you have stressed out your self and you need to take a break from this..... if it keeps going like this then you might not live longer" Nicole says urging her friend as she took a deep breath.

"What am I actually living for? I am just like an empty vessel walking around with nothing to show up for..." Allyssa said in a whisper but Hailey heard her clearly.

"Come on, do not say that" Hailey shunned her.

".....Okay, so what are you suggesting that I do, I can not just take a break like this and you know the condition I am into right now, I have a lot on my mind, I need a job." Allyssa explained to Hailey.

"my rent will be due by the beginning of next month and I would not want him to throw me out again that is why I am working hard for this but it is just like I am pouring water in to a basket" Allyssa explained, her voice was clearly cracking up.

Hailey has been a very good friend since the past seven years, they became close friends and when their friendship went higher, they became best of friends and more of sisters.

She is 21 year old , she's 4.9ft tall, perfect Sapphire eyes, shoulder length black hair with very nice curves that could make any one who stares at her go crazy and ends up drooling with lust.

She tries her possible best not to bother her parents after they gifted her a house in New York.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.
