Chapter 1 Bad and Ruthless Alpha

Luka's POV (Point of View)

"Alpha,a rogue family have been spotted near the pack borderland".my beta mind links me.

"Alright, hold them up until I get there" I say.

I quickly run out of the pack house and head in the direction of our pack outskirts. Luan,my wolf wanted to tear them up immediately, but I kept him under control. On getting there, I see a family;a woman and a child of about 7years.

The woman lay on the ground crying and I see the figure of a man who I guess is her husband. He lay motionless on the ground. The little boy's face was full of fear as he must have witnessed his dad's death.

"Woman, what are you doing here?" I ask as calmly as I can.

She doesn't reply but instead, she stands up and walks towards me. My beta growls as she gets closer and I can hear the child whimper in fear. I raise my hand up motioning for him to return to his former position. She gets to my front and now she is less than a metre from me. I see she is broken. She grabs my suit with so much courage and I am surprised. I push her back and she lands far away from me. I rush to her and feeling my claws extract and in a swipe, I end her life.

The child breaks down in tears as he lost both his parents in a day.

"Take him in and let him work as a slave'" I command.

"Alright boy, let's go" I hear my beta say.

I run and head towards the abandoned land where my mom's remains lay. As I get closer, i start i remember the painful events which I experienced 18 years ago.

Flashback

"Slash"went the sound of my fathers whip landing on my mothers back. I fought back the tears that trickled down my sore cheeks, while doing the work my Dad asked me to do. My dad was a wicked alpha. His brutal laws and methods of ruling the pack, made him known all around the country. He was harsh even to his wife and me his son. Most days, beating us till we faint. He also made me work each day and would later call me for training when I'm done I don't know what kept my mom from leaving as she tolerated all he did.

I hear her cry out in pain. As I finish my labour, a loud crash came from my dad's study where they were. I looked out of the window and I saw my mother who had already shifted into her wolf form running out of the pack house. I ran out of the large room which I was cleaning and unlocking the front door, I leave the house ignoring my father's call.

I tried mind linking her, but she had blocked everyone including me out. Being a thirteen year old child, I hadn't shifted yet and I was a slow runner. A loud howl cut me out of my thoughts."Noo" I screamed as a thought wafted into my head. On getting to the pack borderland, I see her body on the ground and looking farther, two large wolves with an unknown scent ran into the woods.

"Mom" I called.

She raised her head and looked at me. I knelt down and laid her head on my lap.

"What happened mother?" I asked while in tears.

"Rogue" was all she said and then her eyes closed slowly and she was taken away from me.

"Noooo!Mom,you can't do this to me" I cried feeling like my heart was being ripped apart. I laid down there for sometime, and looking into the forest,I see a silver eyed wolf grinning..I was lifted off the ground by two hefty guards. I cried, kicking my feet in the air wanting to join my mother as my world crumbled.

As we get back to the pack house,I look through the window and i see my father sitting with a whip in his hands on the couch in the rear end of the living room.

Taking a deep breath, I push open the door leading to the living room. On seeing me, he stands up and walks to me.

"Hey boy" he says as he swings his whip. I wince as the whip makes contact with my skin...

An hour later

I wake up with a heavy headache and while trying to stand up from the cold floor,I fall down back which makes me wince in pain. While remembering the painful events of the day, I trod to the bathroom feeling unending pain. I put on the shower and enter the little tub which I own.

End of Flashback

Ever since then, I've had no one except Leah, my sister who's currently in London. I don't have a mate, and I don't need one. I run the affairs of the pack single handedly, not having time for relationships after my experience with Priscilla, I won't get into another relationship. I'm feared all over North America. I am the must ruthless and dangerous man to have ever ruled this pack. Wolves whimper just in my presence. If I have a mate, I might lose that status, so I'm better on my own.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

I spent four hours preparing a five-course meal for our fifth anniversary. When Jackson finally walked into the penthouse an hour late, he didn't even look at the table. He just dropped a thick Manila envelope in front of me and told me he was done. He said his stepsister, Davida, was getting worse and needed "stability." I wasn't his wife; I was a placeholder, a temporary fix he used until the woman he actually loved was ready to take my place. Jackson didn't just want a divorce; he wanted to erase me. He called me a "proprietary asset," claiming that every design I had created to save his empire belonged to him. He froze my bank accounts, cut off my phone, and told me I’d be nothing without his name. Davida even called me from her hospital bed to flaunt the family heirloom ring Jackson claimed was lost, mocking me for being "baggage" that was finally being cleared out. I stood in our empty home, realizing I had spent five years being a martyr for a man who saw me as a transaction. I couldn't understand how he could be so blind to the monster he was protecting, or how he could discard me so coldly after I had given him everything. I grabbed my hidden sketchbook, shredded our wedding portrait, and walked out into the rain. I dialed a number I hadn't touched in years—a dangerous man known as The Surgeon who dealt in debts and shadows. I told him I was ready to pay his price. Jackson and Davida wanted to steal my identity, but I was about to show the world the literal scars they had left behind.
