CHAPTER ONE

*Maria pov*

Exploring the dream land. I spranged up from the bed I slept, fetched my toothbrush and paste with a glass of water and brush my teeth.

I quickly dash into the shower room, get my bucket filled with water as I walk into the water basin.

Using the bathroom tumbler to dish the water and pour it on hair, I apply my shampoo, hair conditioner and turning on the soap dispenser as I began washing my hair thoroughly.

After washing my hair, I turn on the shower tap, caressing my body with the natural hand soap as the water from the shower tap flushes off the soap foams from my body.

I unhacked a towel from the towel ladder stand and dry my body which was dripping wet.

Later, I got some lotion from the lotion dispenser, applying it on the various part of my body then l retired to my room to get dress.

I got dressed in no time as my phone vibrate.

"Hello ma'am, good morning." Elvis greeted.

"Morning Elvis. How are you ? ." I asked

"Am very well. Please I wanna tell you that the cab isn't working. So, I won't be able to take you to work this morning." Elvis said.

When I heard this, I grew fidgety.

"what a bloody hell are you Elvis ?." I bawled.

"Sorry ma'am, please I only need part payment of my monthly salary to get the cab fix." Elvis demanded.

"Bastard, I will sack you soon. You think you can fool me with bloody lies." I yelled.

"Please ma'am, I can't lied to you. I mean every bit of my word. Elvis plead.

"Hey nigga, stop building castle in the air cause you won't succeed." I responded with an attempt to hang up the call.

"okay ma'am. Let me send you some screenshot of the cab in WhatsApp at the mechanic workshop." Elvis reply imposing composture in me.

"Better, endeavour to send with your account number dick head. So, I gonna pay in your salary" I echoed hanging up the conversation.

Moment later, he send some of the captions displaying the cab inaccuracy and some spare part to be replace. So, it might be able to perform it duties.

I was seriously confused whether to send the money or not. But I was seriously constrain by my faith that Elvis is telling the truth.

I dial his number and call him.

"Hello dude, check your phone have just send $20 US dollars into your account." I gabbled.

Hanging up the call. I went in search of a cab, cause l was already running late to work.

--Coryson Development Enterprise.--

"Hey Maria, good morning." Andy yelled few metres away.

I didn't wanna pay any attention. So, I keep walking very fast approaching the foyer.

Before I could realise, Andy tapped my shoulder and said " Come on damsel. Why acting very strange, hope all is well ?."

"yeah dude, someone got me upset." I reply smiling fictiously.

There was something eating me up. I'm late for work today and I will be query by our M.D.

This man is a very strict disciplinarian and does'nt cajole with handling bad attitudes in the enterprise.

"fuck you Elvis, you're responsible for this mess." I whispered to my self grewing more fidgety.

while approaching the human resource department to report myself present for the day activities.

I met Raymond who told me that the M.D has restricted me from involving myself in any activity related to the enterprise.

"Hi love." Raymond said.

"Hi sugar." I responded with a peck.

"How are you and how was your night going baby ?." Raymond inquired.

"Awesome baby, just that am not feeling too well." I said staring at him.

"Gosh!, what's that fucken hell disturbing cute pie ?." Raymond reply looking worried.

"Baby, I don't considered this conversation to be held later in the day. Can't you see am running late." I gabbled.

"Please baby don't be acting so fuzzy. Let me remind you, the M.D wanna see you as soon as possible." Raymond said.

Living Raymond, I went to see the M.D as was told. He was leafing through a magazine as could'nt detect my presence Immediately.

"Good morning sir." I said standing still with some expectations of being free from query.

"Maria you're on suspension for one month." He said as his eye blazed up with anger.

"oh no!, please sir it wasn't my fault." I grimaced.

"come on Maria, we all live by principles and ethics in this enterprise. All workers here must pocess the element of right attitude to work." He said as his eye lit up.

"yeah, I know, but sir I don't wanna embark on any suspension." I said faking a smile.

"Damn you. You don't tryna object my decision. Now leave my office." His eye sparkled with chagrin.

I wanna stay longer to plead, but I sense anger, the very moment he grab his telephone. I quickly made my way out of his office.

*Raymond pov*

The door creaked open as I ran into hitting Maria.

"Hey love, please am sorry. It wasn't intentional." I said as my eyes was brim with tears.

"piss-off Raymond." she yelled.

"oh! no, I didn't meant to hurt you. I gonna buy you a new shoe. Since the coalition has disfigured this one." I chuckled.

"Don't fucken talk to me okay ?." She bawled as her eye blurnt with anger.

I wasn't being myself through out work that very day. What have I done to deserved this.

This is totally strange cause the Maria I know never acted like this before. We have been dating for over a year now and such gruesome attitude had never manifested in her life.

"Hi bro, sup why are you like this." Andy grimaced.

"Gosh!, yeah its Maria. I don't know why she's acting strange this days. " I bawled.

"oh!, come on, what's actually the bone of contention.?" Andy required staring up the ceiling.

"I ran into an accident of smaching here shoes and that's all." I elucidated.

"oh! no, I can't believe this that your fiancee would just ignored you because of that. Anyways that's awful, just cheer up and see her after work today okay ?." Andy said beaming.

"yeah bro, l will. Thanks for your concern." I complimented with a lop sided grin.

My conscience was giving me some premonitions of this maybe a threat to break up. I can't stand a chance of loosing my baby..

After rounding up with my duties for the day. I had to go and see Maria just to ensure that all is well between the both of us.

"Hi love, how are you doing.?" I asked with a grimaced.

"yeah, am not good at all." she said as her eye blurnt with anger.

"Come on , why getting annoyed ?, what the hell is wrong ?." I inquired.

"Hmmm, the M.D has suspended me. I tried embelishing my excuses but he ended up paying deaf ears." she said as her facial expression tends to erupt like that of volcanic eruption.

"Sorry love, but l wanna ask you about this in the foyer. lf not that you flare up and made me feel devastated." I said staring into her eye.

"Yeah, am sorry about that. I was carried away by the tension of getting suspended." she said felling into my arms as I peck her hair passionately.

I was paralyzed with happiness as the spirit of guiltiness flee from me.

I wish I could help her get back to work, but our M.D is strict with his actions and furious.

We broke the hug as I stared at her passionately.

"yeah, that's remind me. why were on a different cab to work today ?." I said caressing her hair which rested on my shoulder.

"My driver fucken called me this morning and said the cab is running at fault." Maria said staring up the ceiling.

"Damn, so has he get the cab fixed ?."

"yeah, after requesting for part payment of his salary." Maria said beaming.

"oh! well, that's not bad at all. Afterward he was demanding for his salary to get the cab fixed not your." I said with a giggled.

"No, I wanna get a new cab man, but Elvis is such an accomplished one." Maria chuckled.

"Gosh!, why did you wanna hire a new cab man." I said with a lop sided grin.

"Just that, he's giving so much headache and sometimes he makes me flare up at him." she admist

"I don't see anything wrong with that. Just take it kindly with him." I consoled.

she widened her eyeball in amazement.

CHAPTER TWO

*Maria Pov*

I was definitely amazed, when Raymond said I shouldn't fire Elvis my cabby.

" Baby why did you say I shouldn't fire Elvis." I inquired.

" Come on , this guy has been working for you all this while. He's submissive, obedient and trustworthy. I don't see any he has done wrong." Raymond stated.

I wasn't in a good condition to analyse my decision for Elvis. All I wanna do now, was to get back to work .

The suspension aura keeps bothering me. I was bemused of what next I gonna do to get back to my job.

I know what it takes me to be an employee to in "Corydon Development Enterprise" and I wouldn't stand a chance of loosing my job just within a twinkle of an eye.

After Raymond had went home. I was feeling so depressed, as was about to

to go and have my siesta. The door buzzy rang, moving to see who the person was.

" Hello ma'am , how are you doing?" Elvis saluted.

" Am not good Elvis. You made me loosed my job." I yelled.

" Oh my gosh, please ma'am am sorry it wasn't my fault that the cab broke down." Elvis interceded.

"Don't fucken talk to me Elvis. This is all your fault." I yelled.

He keeps pleading and I couldn't resist him any longer. He sat on the couch as I went inside to get him a bottle water.

" So Elvis what the hell are you doing here?." I inquired.

" Ma'am I will urge you not to let this whole thing bothers you a lot than your welfare." Elvis said .

" Elvis can't you comprehend the fact that you put me through this mess." I screamed.

" No one is above mistakes ma'am, perhaps the cab wasn't running at fault the yesterday. It was all a surprise to me that the cab broke down this morning. Man proposes God

disposes." Elvis preached.

" Hey dude, just pray I don't loose my job. Else, I will make life so miserable for you." I said

"Am sorry ma'am, just make sure you abscond from severe thinking. If only you don't wanna concoct high blood pressure. You health matters to me a lot." Elvis responded biding me goodbye.

* Elvis pov*

The life we live is so precarious and dreaded. The philosophers says "sometimes you don't need to show up your real personality in new environment just to ensure you know people who definitely loves you."

Am Elvis by nomenclature, a first class

graduate in marketing. I came back from London to USA to manage my father's legacy. I didn't know any of his

staff by their values respectively.

I planned on what to do in order to achieve this goal of mine. I decided to be a driver to one of the staffs, which definitely is Maria.

She's a good, beauty and elegant lady. I can't deny the fact that I'm in love with her. Despite her arrogance and annoying lifestyle.

Her suspension is also what I planned with my father's managing director.

The cab didn't broke down at all. It all a stepping stone to achieve my goals.

Long a ago, I had a fiancee, I love her with all my heart and I always tryna

I came up with a pretext of telling her that my father wants to see me. Before he travels out of the state to a business trip.

Definitely she agrees and I had already

There was also another epitome of distraction here. Maria has a boyfriend and I don't think she might accept my proposal. Mayhaps she might not accept me because of my pretence of being a cabby.

I decided to go and see my friend. Since a problem shared is a problem solved.

" Hi Elvis. What are you doing in my house today, because it has been a while over now ?." Rex yelled from the foyer.

" Hey man, never mine that okay?." I said.

" Am cool." I reply.

Rex went in and brought two glasses of red grapes wine as we both take a sip by saying "cheers."

"Yes man, on less I forget you haven't give account of your visitation in my abode." Rex said.

"Come on dude, won't you allow me

enjoy myself first?." I asked.

" Oh no, you will." Rex enthused.

" See I have a problem right now. And I don't know if you can be of help to me." I said

" Gosh!, What's the nature of the help?,

Is it in financially or the other way around?." Rex inquired.

" Is not financially, I only need some advice and guidelines on what I need to do now." I elucidated.

I told her everything about Maria as the woman I want in my life and how much I cherish and loved her.

Not also, with how to proceed to let her know what I feel for her deeply.

CHAPTER THREE

*Rex Pov*

When Elvis narrated his ordeal for me,

I was flabbergasted, why he choose to fall in love with still that same lady who's not respecting, but only harassed him always.

Due to the ignorance of the false identity of seeing him as a cabby.

" Elvis, see dude, why do you wanna go for this girl. After all what she has been doing to you?." I asked anxiously.

" Rex come on, just leave this alone

and do for me what I asked you to do please." Elvis said.

After several attempt of trying to persuade him not to proceed with the proposal, but he still rebuffed my advances.

Now to the detriment of understanding that I definitely know that Elvis was seriously in love with her.

" Elvis you said she has a boyfriend in town and probably will she accept you. I will only urge to keep showing her tender loves and cares now that she's no longer going to work." I said judiciously.

"How do you mean please?." Elvis said

" You gotta go and see her from time to

time, keep her company. " I said.

" How you think this will be possible, due to her cruelty?." Elvis inquired.

"Look up man, I know definitely that you have the balls to do this. Don't see your debute trial as a fallacy. Have those strong instinct and premonitions

of success." I said elegantly.

"Since my Rex has spoken, I have no doubt. I have put on the whole amour of love no hatred shall prevail against me." Elvis enthused with a smirk.

"Then after which this action is still continuous. She herself at her own detriment of understanding will acknowledge the fact that you extremely loved and care about her." I said taking a sip of my drink.

" Wow!, Rex now I see that you're good counselor. I wish the US government will appoint you as one." Elvis cajoled.

Elvis left and appreciated my advice. I definitely was waiting for his responds.

*Maria pov*

I woke up very weak and tired. I managed to even brushed my teeth and take my bath.

After my daily routine of cleaning the floor and washing the food utensils.

I ate my breakfast. Then, watched the Titanic movie of the two protagonist Jack and Rose (Lovers).

Suddenly, I heard a loud ring from the door buzzer. I arose and swung open the door. Behold was Elvis with a parcel.

I was wondering who he really wanna gave the parcel to or where does he afford the money to purchased such commodity.

" Good morning ma'am. How are you doing?." Elvis saluted.

" Am not doing good. You made me to lost my job." I said.

"please ma'am I know, but am sorry in that case. Don't worry I promise to get you your job back." Elvis proclaimed.

I was surprised, how will Elvis get me back my job?. When he can't even afford $1 dollar to buy himself a sandwich meal.

I couldn't control myself any longer, than to break the iceberg by causing a serious laughter.

"Oh my Gosh!, are you for real Elvis?." I asked.

" Of course am not kidding ma'am. I mean every bit of my word." Elvis said.

"Elvis if you have come to get your monthly allowance. I don't have money for you. So better take your leave." I forewarned.

" Ma'am you haven't asked me to declare my intention of coming to your house and you're asking me to go?." Elvis cried out loud.

" If not for money. Then, what any other intention brought you here?." I asked vividly.

" Okay ma'am, am sorry I didn't inform you earlier. I brought you this parcel." Elvis said elegantly.

I was shocked to my marrow.

"Elvis you bought me this parcel?." I inquired.

" Yes ma'am, If you think is a mirage then you see it yourself." Elvis said.

I was having some intentions that he might have stolen the money for that parcel. Or probably he might have forgot who actually he was asked to deliver the parcel to.

I was emphatically clothed with mixed feelings and grew fidgety.

I later summon courage and open the parcel. I melted like a candle wax when I saw the contents. The receipt bears his name.

"Elvis this content cost for $20 dollar. Where do you have the money to buy me all this?." I articulated.

" Well is crystal clear that you have seen my name as the receipt bearer. I used my savings to made purchased of

that parcel." Elvis remarked.

"I lack of words to express my gratitude for what you have done for me today. Am so much gay and elated." I appraised being rollicking.

"Okay ma'am, it's not thing. Just to show I care about you and what you are going through." Elvis verbalise.

I became aggressive when he said that. I gave him a serious slapped on his cheek.

"Who did you care about?, am not your match Elvis. If you wanna have a girlfriend then you go out there in search of your range and class." I bawled

" Am sorry ma'am, but is not up to that." Elvis apologized.

" Enough, keep your apologies to yourself. Now leave my house dick head." I said criticizing him.

I was still surprised of where he got the money to buy all this. He left Immediately and I shut the door behind him.

Whereas, I wasn't his social class or range. My boyfriend is at least from the working class. And not a nobody like him.

Just recently he made me lose my job and now he wanna entice me to be his woman.

That's impossible, It can't be. My Raymond is awesomely enough for me.

That's was for the first day of Elvis adventure.

CHAPTER FOUR

*Raymond pov*

It being a couple of weeks now ever since Maria was suspended from work. I became so furious and tend to go extra mile that Maria must get back her job.

I went to work that morning to consult the managing director of " Coryson Development Enterprise," unfortunately, he wasn't in office in time.

I left with and intention of coming back to see him before the day runs out.

While returning, coincidentally I meant my ex girlfriend. Her name was

Evelyn already awaiting me in the foyer leading to my office.

" Hi baby, I really missed you so much."Evelyn said.

" Stop, why are you here in the first place. After you doomed me and move in with another guy in the China." I bawled.

" Hey Ray, common don't fucken act

that way you do. Perhaps you gotta hear from me first." Evelyn reply.

I open the door, we both went in and sat down.

" Raymond I went to China to see my Father due to his brother's death and the mistaked he did by willing everything he had to an unknown identity." Evelyn verbalise.

" Then what withhold you from coming back on time?." I inquired.

" Well darling, is an epic meant for another day. I came back because I knew what we shared together. " Evelyn said.

I was definitely bewildered and didn't know what next to do. She walked beside me, placed her hand on on chest began caressing it down gently.

I heard a knock on my door and suddenly, Raymond my human resources manager came in.

" Good morning sir. " Raymond saluted

"Morning Raymond, what can I do for you." I inquired.

" Yeah sir, please I wanna ask please when are we calling off Maria's suspension." Raymond uttered.

* Which Maria are you referring to for proper clarification ?." I inquired foxily.

" Sir I mean Maria our senior clerk." Raymond said.

" She's still on suspension. Now leave my office before I descent on you." I bawled.

My son Elvis will achieve whatever he wants. After calling my son names and

harassment. She must definitely pay for this. Then, as at due time she will be called back.

*Maria pov*

Today is clocking a week plus, Raymond had not ever come to check on me or send some money for my upkeep as usual.

Talkless of enquiring if am having financial challenges. It seems he's seeing some other person.

That was all I could cogitated when Raymond was now behaving strangely with me.

If not for the little money Elvis gave me with the parcel. My life would have been so precarious and awkward.

It was at this point that I review an idioms which entails that " A friend in need is a friend indeed."

Her name was Lara, she was definitely tall and dark in complexion. Infact she was always referred as black beauty by our female counterparts in college.

" Hey Lara." I echoed sighting her few metres away.

Immediately she turned back and acknowledge that it was me. She ran into my arms as I hugged her passionate.

" Hi Maria, so this is you. I have finally found you damsel." Lara enthused.

"Yeah dearie, It quite been a long time." I inquired.

" Well I went to see my Parents at California. They both resides there and perhaps am now a married woman." Lara uttered.

I feel goose pimples all over my body. When I heard that word married. Infact l lost my balance.

" Lara stop being illusive, or tell me you're kidding me please." I muttered.

" Maria, If you're doubting me. Then, I have an evidence to prove that am not guilty." Lara said poking a gold dazzling ring on my face.

" Congratulations Lara. Happy marital life." I applauded.

" So, how about you, are you not married." Lara inquired.

" Yeah dearie, not yet, but soon. Just that I was suspended from my work place and I have been through tough time." I said.

" Omg!, such a bloody hell you have been through. Just take heart, all Will definitely be well okay. Let me hurry my cabby is awaiting me." Lara said pathetically as we both pathed ways.

I quickly get my ice cream and returned back home at the spot.

CHAPTER FIVE

*Elvis Pov*

I can't believe the Detriment of understanding that someone homo sapiens are just an epitome of arrogant.

Maria didn't know that she's was playing with fire. I was just trying to be a good person and only for love I was degrading myself and personality.

I went to Rex at that very spot and narrated all what that happened to him.

" Hey man, what's up ?." Rex uttered sightings me approaching the foyer.

At first, I didn't give any response to his questions.

It was when he noticed the countenance, written all over my facial expression that made him to comprehend that my feelings were hurt.

" See bro, Just calm down okay?. I know it won't be easy, but we persistence and consistence trial you might be at the greatest peak of success." Rex remarked.

" You can't believe what this girl did to me. She slapped me and walked me out of her apartment." I yelled.

"Come on Elvis, It's not always an easy way task to wins a woman heart. All what you need is to put on an amour of patience and definitely it will be a success." Rex said making me to cheer up.

"Ok brother, I wanna go home, take launch and probably with the company of my dog Mildred." I said.

"No probs dude, safe journey home." Rex remarked shutting the foyer.

* Raymond pov*

Now that my fiancee is backed, telling

Maria about her is one of the greatest things that seems too Impossible for me to do.

I was seriously in dilemma and fear that Maria might commit suicide. when she will realise that am dating Evelyn.

She will see me as a gold digger and not the true love she expected.

Well, I know how to handle this. I have to try for once acting to be good. Rather than, being illusive all the time.

The work for day had got to its climax. I quickly hurry down the garage, get in

side my zippy car and zoom off.

I went to Evelyn apartment and took her to my house.

When we both arrived, I was definitely weak and needed to take my shower to get freshing up.

I went to the shower room while Evelyn was at the kitchen sorting out for dinner.

After the water had descended on my skin. I felt highly relief of an heavy luggage off my neck.

Leaving the shower room, I went further to dress up with my pyjamas.

I got dressed and dash in the kitchen to see how Evelyn was preparing the fried rice and chicken.

I walked in languidly without her notice and was backing at her for a while.

She was emphatically beautiful than even the goddess of beauty.

I walked towards her and this time around, I curved my right hand round her waist like C-curve and she lifted her face and join with mine.

My lips get in contact with hers as I kissed her passionately. I broke the kiss and also assisted her in blending the tomatoes, slicing the onion while she was seasoning the dish.

Twenty-five minutes later, the food was ready. While eating at the dinning table, it was really fun.

I scope the rice with my spoon and take it to her oral cavity. She opened her mouth and engulfed it.

Like wise her, she also feeded me. And

made me go crazy.

After enjoying the sumptuous meal. We both retired to our bedroom.

I couldn't stop staring at her innocent face, most especially the tip pointed edge of her nose like sword.

" Hey darling, why staring at me like that ?. Hope am safe ?." Evelyn asked.

" Yeah my angel, I was carried away by your cuteness, written all over your facial expression." I said making her to feel more flattered.

I woke up, feeling so weak and tired. I got my toothpaste, applying a little quantity on my toothbrush and began brushing my teeth.

After brushing, I got showered immediately and applied my body lotion.

I quickly dash into my wall robe and make selection of my fashion for the day.

Since breakfast was made ready, I ran into eating mine and was about leaving for work.

"Hi baby, am leaving for work. Have dropped some money in the table for your up keep." I said.

"Come on darling, isn't too early ?. I really wanna have you on my side now." Evelyn insist.

" No baby, you can always have me when am back. Besides, I have appointments with my managing director this morning." I said fictitiously.

I was only doing this because I really wanna see Maria before I go to work.

I got to Maria's apartment. I pressed the door buzzer. As the door swung open.

"Good morning baby." I saluted.

Maria didn't say anything to me, but only keep staring at me.

I said, "Good morning ." I repeated.

Yet she wasn't replying. I knew she would be angry, but telling her what happened was the bridge I couldn't cross.

I began feeling bewildered and shut of word to say a pretext which could act as an apology.
