Chapter 1 LUCAS

Lucas' Mother hated white.

She said it was a fragile colour, annoyingly delicate and pure, nothing like what she was. She preferred black, so he put onblack for her, ignoring the colour code on the funeral invitation card which read 'white attire only'.

Lucas' mother had no family members or friends ,no one to shed trickles of tears on account of her demise, A crowd of people came to sympathize with George,All were a bunch of two-faced ass kissers who came to show off their expensive white dressesand suits, drink fine wine and render assistance to the most eligible widower in town. This was why Lucas had no friends in particular. Anyone would give anything to be him, he had a nice car, lived in a big house, went on lush vacations, his step dad was the Mayor of the city indeed,Lucas had it all or so they thought.

After the funeral, Lucas went to his room, threw himself on the bed and started to cry. Reminiscing on his Mother's last words

''if he touches you again''.

Then George walked into Lucas' room, sat on the bed, and heldhim lovingly like he were a piece of tempered glass. His fingersstarted to unbuckle Lucas' belt, freely gliding down Lucas'thighs just like they had done on a thousand and one occasionsincluding the day Lucas' mother died.

He had gone to visit her , She took a long look at him from herhospital bed and knew what had happened. she recognized thelook he had, it was the same look she had when she wasyounger. It was all too familiar.

Weakly she asked who it was. Lucas told her.

He told her everything, how it all started when he was five.

I swear I heard something crack open in her chest.

She breathed deeply and screamed ''if George touches you one more time''!

Then the electrocardiogram started to beep furiously. She drewthree large breaths and died at the forth. Lucas knew his mother did not die due to end stage breast cancer that had furiouslynibbled on her insides leaving her as unrecognisable as a bag ofbones covered with stretched skin. She died from a broken heart.

Lucas had become nicer to his mother when she was diagnosed with cancer.

He had hated her all his life for marrying this sick man, he never really got to know her, where she came from and who his father was.Amanda his mother had a troubled life and was a product of foster care, because her parents did not want her, her mom abandoned her in the bathroom of a super mart somewhere in conneticuit when she was four.

She could remember her mother's last words "wait here sweetie, i'll be right back..."

She never saw her Mother again.

Amanda got out of foster care at eighteen, lived on the streets, got pregnant at nineteen and decided to keep the baby because she wanted someone that would love her and never leave her.she wanted a family.

At twenty four, she moved to NewHampshire for a fresh start, Lucas was already five and life was terribly hard, she took waitressing jobs working numerous shifts during the day and sometimes at night, she would double as a call girl. It was at her waitressing job one day when a middle aged man asked if she was married. He asked if she would marry George, his boss, a young,aspiring,envisioned-to-be-successful politician. he neededsomeone to control, someone who would not complain about his latenights, or clandestine affairs with his sexy secretaries, or his othersecret obsessions, someone who would go for endless charityevents, smile beside him and speak only when spoken to.it was the trophy wife deal. They were not to have any children togetherbecause she would have to undergo a consensual hysterectomywhich was a major part of the contract and in return for heracceptance to his proposal, she and her son would be well taken care of.George was focusing on building his image of being a loving family man in his political career that had not yet taken root. Amanda had no degree norformal education. This was the only way she could provide for her son. She took the deal with both hands.

Lucas knew now that his mother had sacrificed a lot for him,he felt sorry for all the times he threw things at her.

Now he hated her for another reason, he hated her for dying, for leaving him.

Lucas knew that there was nothing more to lose and this time, he could stand up for himself .George had threatened to do terrible things to his mother if he ever said anything and he had lived all his life in fear ,he had sucked up and bore it all but not today! He had no one else to protect.

George's fingers were still struggling with the zipper on Lucas's trousers.

"I'm not five anymore George! Get out!

Get out or else!".

George was taken aback, paused and laughed dryly..

"You ungrateful bastard! I took you and your mother in! Your mother was a prostitute! A cheap wh..."

Before he could finish the sentence, Lucas smashed George'shead with a glass vase which stood on the edge the table near the richly painted silk wall, he continued hitting and hitting until George became an unrecognizable bloody mess.

He realised what he had done until the adrenaline rush disappeared as quickly as it came. There was no way in hell that George could survive. Did he just comit murder? His hands shook as he washed his bloody hands in the sink. There was no use trying to hide,The only thing he could do was run.The only thing he knew how to do best was run.

He had spent his life running. Running from people that would've maybe cared for him, running from his Mother's gaze when she asked him a thousand times over if he was okay, he just ran and hid behind booze and wild parties, taking out his anger on the football field, how else would he have made quarterback? At least the rage within him was good for something. He ran! He had no where else to go so he Ran, this time to Taylor, his girlfriend.Maybe she could help him.
