Not So Much Of a Plan Chapter 1 Bad News

"I am really sorry Miss Perez but she has stage 4 leukemia" I stared at the doctor wondering if she was talking to some else because I was sure she was not talking about Sophie.

"Mam are you still with me, I know this might come as a shock to you......."

"Are you sure you holding the lab report of Sophie, you might have gotten the test mixed up" I collected the paper from her and saw the name Sofia Perez boldly writing at the top

"But how is this possible I should have been able to see the sign, this is the fourth stage Fuck" I bursted out in anger

"The way our bodies react varies, Some people they will have started showing the symptoms from the beginning but her hormones are very strong they tried to suppress it that was why we are just...." The doctor was literally blabbing to me as I kept thinking how the hell she has cancer. It can't be, Sophie is the strongest girl I know.

"ehmmmmm how bad is it" I asked stopping her from the usual doctor's bad new speech which I have to say is a load of crap

"It is not that bad................"

"Please can you spare me all of that and just tell me the honest truth, I don't have time for buttetcoated words" I said too stressed out to be toyed with

"If you insist it is actual very bad, I have to say she is one strong girl to have been able to hide it till now. But she needs to go under therapy real quick because this is a very crucial stage" she handed the files to a nurse as we walked back to Sophie's room

"How many months quick?" I asked

"If you want her to have a smooth therapy I advise she started next week" She said

"Wow isn't that too soon How much is each therapy session"

"Not at all

If she starts her chemo early she will finish early In fact I strongly advise you not to allow this month to end before she starts and the whole therapy will cost around $98000 but I'm not really sure about the price it keeps fluctuating but you can ask the receptionist on you way out"

Wow hold one I know I asked for the honest truth but could she not have at least waited till we got to her office to say the cost ,so much for been blunt

"Fuck that is almost 100 grands" I looked at her through the transparent door, she looked really pale

"I know this is a lot to take in but she need to start her chemo early and in here we allow half payment policy, We can start with that" she went in to check on her.

"All her vitals are stable she can leave today but don't forgot what I said Miss Perez. The nurse will get back to you real quick" she adjusted her drip and left the room.

Where the hell am I going to get 100grands in less than 2 weeks I thought as my phone rang "Hey bitch are you forgetting something"

"Xian?"

"Yeah you are right it is Xian your GGBF who you promised lunch with this morning I went over to your office and Lisa told me that you ran off about like 2 hours ago and you know how much I hate talking to that girl she just kept hitting on me Where the fuck are you?

Don't I mean........."

Xain ranted into my ears, I didn't even realize I had spent that much time in the hospital and when the hell will she let him off her hook.

Lisa she is the secretary at my place of work. "Eh you dicklover..........." I snapped cutting him of

"Ahhhhhh!!!"

I saw some mother covering their children's ear "Fuck thanks a lot asshole if glare could kill I'm sure I would have been dead by now"

"Eh what did I do I'm just an innocent guy who is about to miss his lunch break and seriously where the hell are you?"

"I'm at the hospital..."

"So you finally decided to do that blood donation shit you were talking about"

"No idiot you know I have a phobia for needles I came....."

"Yeah keep telling yourself"

"Argh would you at least allow me to finish what I'm saying fuck what type of dumbass are you Sophie is in the hospital she has leukemia" gosh that idiot just know how to piss someone off

"Can you stop shouting I can hardly..............

Wait did you just say Sophie is in the hospital. Oh my dick am on my way" Good for him I was trying to break down the news to him in a more gentle way but he just had to piss me off.

"I hope he gets here in one piece though I know how much he loves Sophie. He even calls her his twin" I was at the edge of both laughing and crying as I thought of how I was going to get that much money.

I will try asking for an advance payment from my boss and if that doesn't work I will try the bank or even the.................

I was in interrupted by the banging of the hospital door and the screaming of a very piss off parent

"Nurse what is the Sofia Perez room number?" "Sir how are you related to the patient" The nurse asked clearly terrified by him

"Hold up did he just say Sofia" I looked closer to the man's face and realized that that was Xian. "This is not going to end well at all" I stood up from my chair and quickly walked up to them.

"Do you think I will bang in here looking so bothered if I wasn't related to her. She is my twin" He said flashing his famous playboy smile. "But sir the patient is just 13 years and you are lot older than her" she confusedly said.

"Are you trying to say that I am old?" He asked looking hurt.

"No sir you are not at old I mean..........."

"Xain can you stop creating an unnecessary scene. He is with me, I will take it from here" I dragged him by his ear from the nurse's table whose face was as red as a tomato.

"Ah Ah can you stop pulling my ear it hurts" he whined.

"Can you stop acting like a kid God I already have one sick kid in my hands I don't have the strength for another" we both sat down and all the tears i had been holding up suddenly started falling out.

"Xian I don't know what to do" I sobbed on him as he hugged me.

"Don't worry everything will be fine" Xain comforted me as we both embraced in silence.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.

I Slapped My Fiancé-Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
