Between Revenge and duty Chapter 1 Mira is a smart journalist

It was a very hot day today, Mira had just returned from special coverage of a robbery in a housing complex near her office. Now he is parking his motorbike in the office garage, after always doing these activities he rushes into his office.

It was quite hot in her office, so Mira turned on the air conditioner because sweat was already pouring down her temples. After that, he rushed to the office clerk, took a cup of coffee and greeted the OBs there. There were several OBs who greeted him, because he was well known by several people here.

"Ah, Miss Mira, I thought you weren't coming today," said Ujo.

Smiling, Mira replied, "I was assigned by the boss this morning for coverage, what's wrong?" asked Mira at the end.

"Usually, Ms. Nutmeg, who is bald, is excited, looking for Ms. one of the rooms, she is entered screaming and screaming, Mira...Mira, where are you?" Ujo While pouting told Mira.

Mira laughed. "It seems that he forgot to tell his daughter to be reporting outside in the morning, you old rascal," he said slowly and with a joke at the end.

Mira rushed to her office with coffee in her hand. Because he also has to work, if he relaxes, the work will pile up.

piled up.

"Mom, take heart. The bald nutmeg is blocking you," Ujo shouted at Mira.

While laughing, Mira gave Ujo a thumbs up backwards. Mira again walked away from Ujo and the other Obs. Until finally he was in front of his office, so he immediately entered. It turned out that after arriving in the room, he was surprised by the presence of Mr. Hendro already in his room, smiling broadly.

"Good afternoon, my dear father, why is it that you are already excited about looking for this beautiful princess, right? I'm covering it outside of you, sir," said Mira with a little pride.

"Oh yes, I forgot you were reporting outside this morning," replied Mr. Hendro.

"If you want to order coverage, there's something else, sir," said Mira.

"No, no, I want you to report tomorrow morning, Mir," ordered Mr. Hendro.

"Oh well, my dear father. Where should I cover tomorrow?" she asked.

"At the police station, beautiful," answered Mr. Hendro in a flirtatious tone at the end.

"Hah? What sir? At the police station? Isn't it wrong for you to talk?" she asked. He stared in disbelief, hoping what he heard was just a joke.

No wonder Pak Hendro shook his head in response.

"Why should it be me? There's Rendi, there's Jono. You can just send one of them over there," said Mira, not accepting it.

"I'm too special to go there sir,

You told me to cover the arrest of thieves, robberies or murderers?" she continued.

"If that's why I ordered you, I definitely ordered Jono immediately. No it's not that, in fact you are special and I ask you to go there. There is big news there," said Mr. Hendro.

"What? Qpa sir? I? Oh my God, father," Mira said while patting her own head.

Rendy rushed into Mira's room after receiving a message that Mr. Hendro ordered him to come here. Of course he came right away, how could he not want to obey what his own boss said. But inside he was shocked when he saw that Mr. Hendro was also in Mira's room. Actually what happened? It just made him worry.

"Rendy, tomorrow you accompany Mira to the police station," said Mr. Hendro when he learned that Rendy was here.

"Yes, sir, tomorrow morning I will accompany Mira to the police station," said Rendy.

"Oh yeah, Mba Mira, why are you at the police station early in the morning? What's missing, ma'am?" Rendy asked Mira. A little whisper but still can be heard by Mr. Hendro.

Mira also made a sign to Rendy to just obey. Rendy, who received a death stare from Mira, immediately nodded his head as a sign of understanding. Apparently he was wrong to ask like that, he became nervous to get a look from Mira.

"Okay, sir, tomorrow I'll accompany Ms. Mira there," Rendy said, stammering a little.

"Okay, I'll stay first. Both of you discuss how to go, if it's me it's up to you," said Mr. Hendro and then walked away from here.

Only Rendy and Mira are left, they plan to leave tomorrow. In order not to be late, Mira several times warned Rendy that he should come on time. Of course, if you're late, Pak Hendro will be furious. Isn't it better to prevent than cure?

The next morning Mira and Rendy went to the national police headquarters, where it turned out that there was an inauguration of police officials. As usual, Mira nimbly headed for the inauguration. Meanwhile, Rendy, whose body was lithe like a woman, walked like a princess while calling out to Mira. Views like this do often occur.

"Miss, mba Mira, wait! How fast are you walking?!" said Rendy who was a little annoyed with Mira.

While pausing for a moment Mira said, "Eat it, hurry up and walk! We're out of news at this rate!"

While dragging Rendy to the coverage room, Mira and Rendy did special coverage of that place and finally finished and then returned to the office. When Mira and Rendy returned to the office, Mr. Hendro was already in Mira's office welcoming Mira. Mira was half surprised when she saw Mr. Hendro already sitting in his office.

"How long have you been in my room?" she asked.

"Not 5 minutes ago I was here. Well done Mira, you did a good job," said Mr. Hendro while patting Mira on the shoulder and smiling.

Mira was surprised to see Mr. Hendro's unusual attitude that day. After the job was finished, Mira returned to her house. At home she was greeted by her father and nephew, who is still 3 years old. Her older sister has been a migrant worker in Singapore since she divorced her husband 2 years ago to provide for her only child.

Meanwhile, Mira is the 3rd child of 3 siblings, her first brother who was a soldier 4 years ago died while carrying out his duties in Papua while his mother died 1 year from a stroke. Now her father's only support is Mira and her sister No. 2 named Rasmi. Currently Mira lives with her father and nephew.

To become a journalist has been Mira's dream since she was in elementary school. Her love for the world of journalism has led her to become a shrewd journalist and is always trusted and proud of by her leaders at the office. For some reason, every time Mira covered her own story, it always became the center of public attention.

Mira lives with her father who is paralyzed and he can only sit in a wheelchair due to a car accident on his way home from work 2 years ago. His leg was amputated so that the father could not walk and depended on other people, and with a nephew who was 3 years old he was slightly mentally retarded because when his mother was pregnant he had received bad treatment from his husband, his older brother was kicked in the stomach until he fell down at that time her husband was heavily drunk.

Until this caused the older sister to be taken to the hospital and forced to give birth so that the child she was carrying could be safe and her mother, while her sister-in-law did not know where she was until now. Maybe because he was disappointed and ashamed of his parents because the husband he was proud of was a man who liked to drink, gamble and play women.

Rasmi eventually migrated to other countries in Singapore to become an ART or Household Assistant and his only child was left in the care of Mira's parents and sister. Her older sister's incident left Mira traumatized by having a relationship with a man, afraid that what happened to her older sister would happen again to her, that's why Mira is still single to this day. She prefers her career even though her parents sometimes match their choices but Mira still refuses.

As it is today, Mira's father introduces Mira to a rich and handsome man. As soon as Mira met him, the boy called her Rey. Her father invites Mira to a party at Rey's house, where Mira meets Rey's parents. Rey's parents liked Mira, and Mira was engrossed in her future in-laws' conversation. However, what happened when Mira met Rey was a shock. It turned out that Mira had been kicked out by Rey's office security guard while doing special coverage at the office some time ago.

"Ba-father here?" asked Mira stammering a little.

"Hey you, what are you doing here? Not satisfied that you ransacked my office with your disgusting news? Get you out of here!" get rid of Rey.

"This my home! I have the right to expel anyone who disturbs me and my family!" Rey continued with her eagle eyes ready to shoot at any moment.

All the eyes of the guests in the house were on the child who hosted the party and Mira. Papa Rey hurriedly approached Rey and with great emotion Rey's father slapped Rey on the cheek. The atmosphere was so silent, everyone focused on the father and son.

A slap landed on Rey's smooth cheek, of course she got it from her father who was now staring at her with a death glare.

"What are you doing Rey? How dare you kick out mama and papa's guests?"

Mama Rey tried to help Mira who had been beaten by Rey and kept Mira away from Rey. But Rey did hit Mira until Mira fell, of course everyone was shocked by this incident.

"Papa and Mira's father are trying to set you up with Mira!" said Papa Ray.

"But that woman ruined my business, dad?" said Rey did not accept.

"Starting today, papa will stop you from being the owner of the company! Papa thinks you can't take care of the company! And you get out of this house, papa, don't give a penny of your inheritance from papa and mama! About the Wendi company that will replace your position!" Rey's sudden decision. This is very bad news.

"But pa-" Rey had not continued her words yet.

"No buts! Get out of here

Or... Wendi," Papa Rey interrupted quickly.

"Y-yes pa call the security guard of the complex and tell them there are rioters here!"

"B-fine pa."

Rey left, but first she stopped beside Mira.

"Just watch, later I will do the calculations with you sly woman!" Rey threatened while pointing her index finger at Mira.

After threatening Mira, Rey left the party. After Rey left, Mira knelt in front of Rey's parents, apologizing for the mess and ruining the party that day. Rey's mother while helping Mira stand up.

"Never mind, Mira, it's not your fault, it's all the fault of the aunt and uncle who spoiled Rey too much. Uncle and aunt are sure you are just doing your job."

"Yes, Mir," said Rey's father.

"Uncle is too trusting of Rey, it turns out he is not a good company leader. He is selfish using company money for his own interests. Uncle, I think introducing you to Rey is the best solution to change Rey's arrogant attitude and tend to be selfish but instead it's the opposite," said Rey's father.

"Thank you, Mir, for disclosing what happened at Uncle's company. If you don't disclose the news, I don't know what will happen to Uncle's company in the future. Pak Dendy, I hope that this friendship will continue well even though we are canceled as in-laws, "continued Papa Rey.

With a wide smile, Mira's father nodded his head in agreement. Everyone was late at the party that night until the party was finally over. Mira and her father said goodbye to their friend Mr. Irwan and his friend's wife offered Mira and her father to be driven home with a driver.

"Well, why didn't you tell us where Uncle Irwan was? Mira can be ready for anything, sis," said Mira while making a sullen face to her father.

"Wanna get ready ready what mir?" asked his father.

"Ready to run away," Mira answered casually.

"If my father told you before, it seems that he has already run away," replied Mira's father.

"Ah... father." With a spoiled tone Mira complained.

"But Mira doesn't want to get married to Rey," continued Mira.

"If you don't want an arranged marriage, hurry up and give me Mir's father-in-law," Mira's father replied in a very relaxed tone.

"So that my father can have more grandchildren so that it is crowded at my father's house," he continued.

"Ah daddy, let's start daddy," said Mira.

His father chuckled at his youngest son's behavior. After arriving at Mira's house and her father thanked the driver who took him and greeted his best friend's family. Mira and father entered the house, Mira also helped her father to clean the body and helped put on clothes.

Secret Triplets: The Billionaire's Second Chance

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

The Silent Bride's Billion Dollar Contract

Landslide

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

The Fallen Heiress's Debt to the Billionaire

The Fallen Heiress's Debt to the Billionaire

I was once the princess of the Upper East Side, but now I’m just "debt wrapped in pretty skin." To keep my father alive in a federal penitentiary, I signed a contract I didn't fully understand. I thought it was about restoring my family's name, but producer Barnett Orr treated it like a bill of sale for my soul. Inside his limousine, the air smelled like gasoline and fear. Barnett didn't want a star; he wanted a victim. He bruised my jaw and ripped my vintage silk gown to shreds, laughing because he knew I couldn't fight back without signing my father's death warrant. "Don't forget who owns you, Felicity," he whispered. When he dragged me into Dewitt Knight’s penthouse party, I was a walking disaster. I huddled in Barnett’s oversized jacket, my lip bleeding and my spirit shattered. The elite crowd didn't see a victim; they saw a fallen girl selling herself for a role. A former rival poured red wine over me, and the room erupted in cruel laughter while Barnett told everyone he was just "testing my commitment." I looked up at the balcony, locking eyes with Dewitt Knight. He was a god in a bespoke suit, looking down at me with cold, lethal disgust. He didn't see the bruises or the desperation. He only saw a transaction he found beneath him. "So the rumors are true," he said, his voice cutting through the music. "The Aguilars really will do anything for money now. Even this." I was trapped between a monster who wanted to break me and a man who thought I was trash. No one cared that my father's life depended on my silence. When Barnett cornered me in a guest room later that night, his belt jingling like a death knell, I realized no one was coming to save a girl like me. I fought back with a crystal vase, shattering it against his shoulder, but I was drowning in my own terror. Just as Barnett lunged for my throat, the door was kicked off its hinges. Dewitt stood there, finally seeing the blood on the carpet and the map of purple bruises on my bare back. He chased the monster away, but I didn't feel safe. I locked the guest room door, wedged a chair under the handle, and slept with a silver letter opener pressed against my skin. When I crept into the kitchen at midnight and found him waiting in the shadows, I aimed the blade at his heart. "In this house, no one hurts you," he promised, his voice a low velvet rumble. But in a world where I had already been sold once, I knew that even protection came with a price I couldn't afford to pay.
