Tony Green, an A-list celebrity got into a serious car accident. The culprit? Ash Myers, an infamous singer, who was drunk driving. Due to this fateful event, Tony got into a coma and woke up with a condition called Savant Syndrome--a rare disease that he became a genius in music and math but at the same time, became an idiot in some activities of daily living. A favorable arrangement was offered to Ash. Will accepting it lead to her one true love or will it end in tragedy due to some twists and turns of life?

Chapter 1 1

Chapter One: Blinded (Part 1)

"Ash! Can you hear me? Ash! Wake up!" I heard a woman's voice hoarse and shouting in panic.

I feel her caress my long hair and holding me in her arms. "P-Please, Ash. I-I'm sorry. Wake up!"

I open my eyes and I hear whispers of people encircling me. They're all staring at me with worried, confused faces. The tiled floor felt cold under my legs, almost sending me chills. It's a bit uncomfortable. I gasp and facepalm in my head. How can this happen again? Will I faint at random places 'til I'm old and grey?

*START OF FLASHBACK*

"Good day, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the blind date show! Where you find your one true?" Steve announced with glee.

"Love!" the audience shouted in response. They clapped happily. The background music was loud while light blue, pink, and purple lights dance in the stage.

What am I doing here again? I tried to remind myself that I'm here for a reason and that's to salvage my singing career.

"We have a very, very special guest. He's the most sought after bachelor and a top celebrity. He won more than a hundred acting awards both here in the States and internationally throughout his nine years in the industry. He's our tall and handsome debonair, Tony Green!" Steve sounds more enthusiastic than ever.

Tony gave a nonchalant smile and waved at the crowd as he entered the stage. He shook hands with Steve.

Uh-oh. TONY GREEN?! I'm in big trouble. Manager Kim did not tell me that I'm playing here to date Tony Green. Are you kidding me? The playboy, easy-go-lucky, mean, badass Green? No way, not me! No! No!

"Nooooooo!" I shouted. My voice echoed in the studio. This is one of those shameful moments when you unknowingly, abruptly uttered something from your mind and you regret it immediately after you say it. How impulsive can I get?!

"Oh, is there anything wrong, Contestant number 3?" Steve asked immediately with a worried look on his face.

I fidgeted. "T-there's a cock-, cock-, I mean, a c-cockroach i-inside my booth." Stupid, stupid, stupid! How can you say cock in this situation? Now I look like a pervert.

The audience laughs heartily at my response.

"That's gross!" Steve remarked and signaled to the show's staff, "Grace, kindly check booth number 3 and have that roach removed."

Grace looks pale and disgusted as she approaches my booth.

"N-no, it's fine. It left, I mean, it flew away." I answered. Liar! Liar! Pants on fire!

Tony smirked. He looks entertained. Wow, what a beautiful sight he is!

I slap my forehead. Don't fall for him!

"Alrighty. If that's the case, let's start the show. Beautiful ladies, introduce yourselves first." Steve came back to his original stoked self.

"Hi, Tony! You can call me Sexy Angel. I've got everything a man could wish for. You'll have no dull moments when you're with me." the girl inside the first booth introduced herself with a flirty, high-pitched tone, almost sounding like a firetruck's siren. No kidding.

"Hello there, Tony! I'm Lovely Dream Girl. I'm smart, pretty, and fun to be with. I'll make you a satisfied man at the end of the day." She sounds sweet and sincere.

"Hi, Mr. Green! M-my name is..uh..hmmm... Miss Happy. I love music." Seems like I'm nervous. Is there a bee on my throat? Note to self: I'm here for Mom and Grandma.

Tony laughs cheerily.

Just wow. Did he just laugh at me? What's so funny? What a stuck-up jerk!

"Now that we're done with our introductions. Let's start with Round 1! Ready, ladies?"

"Yes!" We said in unison.

"Tony?" Steve stared at him.

"Yeah." He smiled revealing his perfect set of teeth.

The girls went wild.

My heart skipped a beat. Damn!

I examine him from head to toe and he looks so darn sexy in those ripped jeans, a gray polo shirt that hugs his torso, and a navy cap on his head. He's like 6 feet and 7 inches tall. I stared at his face and I'm drawn to those light blue eyes that glistened like stars. Any lady will be lost in that.

"First question. Where do you think is the best romantic getaway?" Asked Steve.

He has short, brown wavy hair, perfectly thick eyebrows, and long, dark eyelashes. His skin is tan and he looks so manly, as an alpha male...

"For me, that will be at the beach. We'll sit by the bonfire along the shore, beside a small tent. We'll eat marshmallows and sweetly talk to each other." Sexy Angel said with a seductive smile.

And of course, I wouldn't miss those two cute, deep dimples that show even if he doesn't smile and just talk. His naturally red lips that you want to kiss so badly...

She explains, "You got yourself into this mess. This is the only way for you to save your descending career. You passed out during your concert and it made a big buzz. You fanned the fire by losing consciousness tonight. Your fans are rapidly leaving you, not believe you anymore. I have to handle a lot of declined projects and canceled endorsements, too. You know I always got your back so trust me in this, okay?"

She continues, "For 13 years, we've been supporting you. We gave you all the help and counseling you need but all failed. You have to help yourself, too. I'm not telling you to date him for real, okay? It's just that dating him can help cover up your failures, just for now. Until we find a more permanent solution, I expect you to cooperate."

I take in and let out a long, loud breath. I can't argue anymore.

I place my hand under my chin and nod.

She relaxes and got back to her old self. That's a relief. Sometimes I wonder if she has some anger management issues or something else 'cause her mood changes in a snap. Oh well, I just think we need to visit my shrink together.

I laugh to myself but feel miserable soon after. Will I survive 7 days with that guy? It'll not be that bad, right?

"Your luggage is ready. I've got everything packed up for you. Your passport is at right side pocket of your handbag. I really have to go, you know how President Rogers is." She takes her Louis Vuitton handbag and put a bright red Mac lipstick on her lips.

Yes, she really is the Starlight Entertainment's Big Boss' wife.

We hear a loud knock at the door.

"It must be Tony. I asked him to take you to the airport. Enjoy, okay?" She winks and kisses my cheek as I gape at her.

Just great. I need to take a breather. Please.

Manager Kim opens the door quickly and I see a tall man, around 6 feet 3 inches.

He's smiling from ear to ear and looks dashing. I bite my lip and feel myself blush. So cute. The boy next door, just my style.

He has blonde hair, dark green eyes, and a chiseled jaw. His skin is porcelain white and he's got a well-defined body.

He holds out his hand, "Hi, I'm Greg Mckinley, Tony's assistant."

Manager Kim shakes his hands and I copy her, too. I stare at him, his face is perfect and it seems like he's also got a nice personality.

Oh yes, I remember he's the talk of the town because he's friendly and jolly, the exact opposite of his boss.

Maybe, just maybe, this trip might be fun.

"Nice meeting you, Greg. I'm Ash." I didn't realize that I was shaking his hands for quite a while now.

I hear someone clearing his throat from behind Greg. It's Tony.

I let go of his hands feeling a bit awkward.

In a baritone voice, he says, "We need to go, we'll be late. Our flight is at 10:30."

I look at him from head to toe. He's now changed to a white shirt and white denim shorts.

It's plain but he looks so sexy in it. His big shoulders and strong chest shows underneath. And looks like he's got abs but I'm not sure. Did I just check him out?

"Like what you see?" He smirks teasingly.

I raise an eyebrow while rolling my eyes, "You wish, Mr. Green."

Greg enters the room and takes my bags with herm. While Manager Kim is talking to Tony, I storm out of the dressing room.

"You never looked at me as myself. You never treated me as a spouse because another woman is in your mind when we're together. Every time you say 'I love you,' with every embrace and kiss, it's her you're thinking of, not me. You loved me not because you loved me, but because you were keeping my sibling alive within me." Certainly! Here is the text translated into English: --- "Damn you!! Put me down!!” I kicked as hard as I can. I even pulled his hair and bit his shoulders so that he will let me go. “Stop it Van! You might fall!” he protested. But I tried even harder to free myself. I kept screaming for him to let me go, but he remained deaf. “You monster!! Manipulative jerk!! I hate you!! I really, really hate you!!” I shouted. I was on the verge of tears due to the extreme anger I felt towards him. Suddenly, he pushed me into a room and dropped me onto the sofa. Before I could even stand, he immediately went on top of me and pinned my arms. “Get off me!!” I wriggled my arms away. He closed his eyes and pressed his body closer to mine. My eyes widened when I felt 'him' coming to life. “Xander?” panic laced my voice. He put his forehead against mine. “God, I missed you so much Vannah.” He said, almost sobbing. I remained silent for a while. “Let me go Xander.” His grip tightened. He shook his head and buried his face in my neck. “I can’t. Savannah, I can’t. I can’t let you go.” I exhaled. Man, this is so frustrating. “Xander, please. I don't want this anymore. I'm tired of you. I'm tired of all of this. Just, let me go.” He looked at me wide-eyed. “No Savannah! No! You can't get tired. No! You can't leave. I can't bear another day without you, I'll go crazy. Please, just don't leave me.” I saw a tear fall from his eyes. I closed my eyes. No Savannah. Don't let yourself be fooled. Don't repeat your mistake from seven years ago. “Savannah..” he called. I just stared at him. I tried to push him with all my might and I succeeded. I sat there while he was trying to reach me. “Stop it Xander! What's so hard to understand about me not wanting this!” He was taken aback by what I said. He turned pale and seemed to have no strength to lower his hand. “I'm sorry. For everything that I said to you--“ I cut him off and stood up. “No. Don't ask for forgiveness. I understand. I understand it all, Xander.” My voice broke so I paused. I took a deep breath as I felt the same pain resurface. “I perfectly understood all the things that you said that night.” “Savannah..” “I know, I know that you married me not because you love me. You married me because you're in love with my twin, right?” “NO!!” he tried to hug me but I stepped back. “Don't touch me.” “Savannah, please, let me explain.” He pleaded but I just shook my head. “Your explanation is seven years late Xander. Everything is broken beyond repair.” I shook my head and reached for the door. He grabbed my arms and hugged me tightly. “No. I won't give up, Savannah. I won't give you up without putting up a damn fight! Remember, we're still married. You're still my wife.” I laughed bitterly when he said that. I pushed him away and looked him straight in the eyes. “I was never your wife Xander. I am just your substitute bride.”

"You are a Town Guard." "That is not a secret." "Then I do have a case for you," the lady said. "I wish to find my sister." "What is the nature of her disappearance?" If it was a simple disappearance, anyone could directly come into the Grand Guard Hall and file for the case. But with this woman's efforts, it was either a case that would cause a scandal or a petty, foolish one which was getting too rampant nowadays. He had been getting useless cases being presented to him by crying single ladies and their mamas in their poor attempt to get his attentions. Even a Town Guard could not be saved from the desperate single ladies still out in the marriage mart. "She had been banished," came the lady's reply. "I am sorry to tell you that we do not handle banishment cases. No matter how you may feel that your sister has been wronged, the law does not-" "I know of the law. I would not have come here if I knew I would not get your help." Ah, so she was confident he'd help her. McKenzie scratched at the scar across his right brow, a habit when he was getting impatient. "And why would you think I would take a banishment case?" he finally asked. Honestly, if this was another single chit who wished to trick him into marriage, he would throw her out of the house for having wasted his time. She finally pulled her hood off her face to reveal a beautiful lady with flaming red hair. Her cheeks were high and finely formed, her chin pointed and her eyes dark blue. She looked vaguely familiar and he quickly searched his memory for a name. He was quite good at memorizing faces and giving a name to them. Carrington. She was a Carrington. She talked of banishment and if his memory served him right, Belinda Carrington had been banished out of Willowfair five years past. Emmett Carrington had two daughters. This must be the other one. She did not know her name but he soon would. "I am Julia Carrington, now lady Trilby," she said, sparing him the trouble. Her face was too serious, her stand too stiff. He had heard of her recent marriage to the youngest Trilby son. "As I have said, Mr. Haverston, I wish that you find my sister, Belinda. You must know about her for her disappearance had caused a great scandal five years past." "And I have told you, lady Trilby, that a banishment case is not-" "The banishment is not unlawful, Mr. Haverston," she interjected, her blue eyes looking straight at him. "But where she was banished to is," she finished. McKenzie finally allowed a frown. "Where she was banished to?" Julia Carrington-Trilby's face tightened but McKenzie was certain that she was fighting back tears. "She was banished aboveground."

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.
