Chapter 1 The Beginning
When I think back on my life as a human it seems as though it was all a dream. I often think about how life was so much simpler then. I was born June 23rd in the year 1200. My mother Ester died bringing me and my twin sister Abigal into the world. My father, Robert Carter, was a farmer on a very small farm in a rural area right outside of Riga a small village in Latvia. After my mothers passing my father couldn't cope without her and became a raging alcoholic taking his frustrations out on me and my sister for being the reason for my mothers early demise.
My mother died at the age of 26 after bearing 5 children, my oldest brother Francis, my second oldest brother Thomas, my older sister Matilda, then me Damian, and finally the baby of the family Abigal. My relationship with my older siblings we complicated to say the least but at the end of the day we all looked after each other's well being.
My life changed on my 16th birthday when I laid my eyes on the most beautiful maiden, I've ever seen her name was Kathryn Mattson. She was new in town from what i learned from the locals she used to live a few villages over until her fathers mysterious death. Her mother was accused of using witchcraft to kill him due to his alleged infidelities with other women in the village, so they fled to her aunts cottage in fear of further action against them. At the time I couldn't believe such things existed. When i met Kathryn I was instantly drawn to her. It was as though we were destined for each other. I never could have asked for anyone better to spend my days with than her.
On the night of my 18th birthday Kathyrn and I decided to make our love for each other permanent. We chose our wedding date, and she chose what ceremony she wanted which in those times what she chose was unorthodox. Our wedding included my family and her family which just consisted her aunt and her mother. It started as an traditional wedding would, she walked down the isle in a gleaming white wedding dress, her long black hair was put into a braid as she wore a beautiful flower crown veil and her gorgeous green eyes looking as though they were glowing. She chose to have our ceremony at night under the full moon. Little did i know what she had in store for me and my family that night. At the end of our vows her mother went around giving everyone a celebratory drink to toast to our future endeavors. After we all shared a toast and drank the drink her mother handed out, Her mother, Aunt, and her joined hands and started chanting.
"O tenebrarum dea, mater immortalibus!
Qui nostrum ius biberunt renascantur sicut filii vestri
Lux tua trahunt sua
Permitte eos in tenebras tamquam ab immortali utero in bracchia filiorum tuorum, quos frater et soror vocabunt
o lunae renascantur sicut puer obscuros ducet eis sic renascantur" They chanted over and over again until everything went black.
That night they performed a spell to transform me and my family into immortal beings. This was just the beginning of the literal hell that was to come in the following years.
