Chapter 1 The Visit

“I think you should tell her exactly what you feel. My brother is not her boyfriend and if she doesn’t want to accept that then you should not hold yourself back from making advances at my brother, Brianna” Jade said to her as they rode in the cab.

“That is the last thing on my mind, Jade. I just want to have a nice party tomorrow and move on with my life and not have to bother about the fact that your brother is in a relationship with the most annoying girl in the school or not. That should be his business and not mine, really. I don’t care about him” she said back.

“I was going to believe you but you haven't stopped talking about Adam since we got into the cab. You have asked me so many times if he would be coming to your birthday tomorrow and I have told you no! He said something about having to go out with someone. I don’t know who that is though” Jade said to her again.

The cab pulled up in front of Brianna’s house and she opened the door before turning around to look at Jade.

“I don’t care about Adam and that is final. Can we not have this discussion again?” Brianna said to her as she got down and grabbed her shopping bags.

“Whatever you want. I would see you very early tomorrow morning and happy birthday, best friend” she said to Brianna with a soft smile.

Brianna smiled back at her and the cab drove off. It wasn’t until the cab left that she heard some arguments coming from inside. That was very unusual because her parents were really peaceful. She was the only child and right from the moment that she had been born till this very day, she had never heard her parents argue so loudly. She knew that something was wrong and she was right. When she got in, she saw her parents and the Alpha of her pack, he ruler of the kingdom, Damien. She didn’t understand what was going on. This man was her dad’s best friend. Why was he in their house making a scene?

“Good afternoon, Alpha Damien” she said as she walked in.

He looked at her and gave her a scornful look. She was frozen to where she was standing. She knew that this man was always friendly towards her. He was just like another father to her. Why did he give her that type of look? He not only looked at her with disdain, he ignored her greetings. Whatever was going on must have really pissed him off for him to act that way towards her. She turned to look at her parents and her dad looked at her. There was so much love in his eyes and she could see it but there was also pain in his eyes and there was something she had rarely seen in his eyes, anger.

“Brianna, go up to your room and sort out all of your shopping there. You have had a long day. Take a nap if you have to” her dad said to her.

“Dad, I don’t need to take a nap. I am fine. I had help when I went shopping. It wasn’t so stressful” she said to him.

“Brianna, I want you in your room, now!” her father yelled at her.

Being the only child, her father never raised his voice at her, not once. She was his princess and he treated her like one. He loved her unconditionally and gave her everything she wanted even though her mother complained that she was going to grow up to be spoiled. Her father didn’t care. She was his princess and he treated her like one. Now, he yelled at her and for some reasons, that hurt Brianna. She nodded at him and she headed up to her room, slamming the door after her. The argument continued downstairs but she knew better than to open the door. Her father would know immediately so she plugged in her headphones and blocked out the noise. When she was done with her chores, she took a nap just like her dad had suggested. Turns out that she needed it after all. When she woke up, it was dark. She grabbed her phone and she saw that it was past dinner time. She groaned at the thought of her mother giving her a lecture about how it was unladylike to get to the dining table late. She got up from her bed and hurried down the stairs. She could hear her parents talking but when she stepped into the room, they both went silent.

“Before you say anything, I fell asleep” Brianna said to the both of them.

“It is alright, darling. Grab a seat. Your father and I need to talk to you” her mother said to her.

“Is this about Alpha Damien? What is going on? Did we get into any kind of trouble?” she asked all at the same time.

“No, sweetheart. We didn’t get into any trouble. I know that this would sound bizarre to you but you may have to leave the Crescent kingdom for a while” her father said to her.

“To where?” she asked her father.

“Your mother has a sister that stays at the central. It is a small city and it is hidden from plain sight” her father said to her.

“What do you mean by she has a sister? Why am I just hearing about this?” Brianna said as she stood up, knocking the chair over.

“You also have a brother. Your mother and I sent him to the central for the same reason we are sending you to the central” her father said to her.

She lost it at this point. What did her father mean by she had a brother? What brother? She has being the only child all her life so what brother was her father talking about?
