Chapter 1 CHAPTER

"Mommy! Mommy! Can I bring my lollipops?" The 10 year old Aera is very excited while helping her nanny to prepare her things in going for a camping in Crystal Cove Park.

At her early age, she already looked so stunningly beautiful and tall. Her long blonde hair looked soft and silky. Her face glowed and radiant. Her green eyes are big and her lips are plump that looked really soft and moist.

As she helps her nanny pack their things, she didn't forget to include her lollipops with different flavors like red strawberry, hot pink watermelon and her favorite, the mystery flavor.

"Okay baby, but bring only few. You might get a toothache for eating too much of those!" Her mom was also busy packing with her dad's things.

"Okay mom! Thank you!" She felt excited as she put her lollipops inside her sling bag. It was planned a very long time ago but because of her mom and dad's hectic schedule in work, they always ended up rescheduling it.

"Let's go Aera!" Ericka, her nanny carried their bags and pulled her downstairs and run outside where the car was parked.

Her dad started the engine when all of them settled inside the car. While they were travelling, she fell asleep and lays her head on her nanny's shoulder.

"Do you think it is better for us to stay in the Cove with our situation like this?" Her mom whispers to her dad.

"We have to stay there while I'm thinking for a solution to our problem." Her dad answered.

The drive through the Crystal Cove Park took them 2 hours to arrive. They stepped out of the car and a middle-aged man guided them to the boat in the riverside to drop them off at the camp site.

" Wow! It's so amazing here!" she exclaimed and Ericka smiled at her while tapping her head gently. She enjoyed riding the boat as she enjoyed the view.

Aera looked around innocently when they arrived at the camping site. There were trees and wild flowers everywhere. She could spot an area with tents in the distance. They walk from the boat to the camp site to where they were staying at when an old man approached them.

"Welcome to the Crystal Cove Park Mr. Choi and family! I am Mr. Liu and I'll be serving you as your camp guide.

" Hi Mr. Liu. Can you tell me where could we put our things first?" Her dad tapped Mr. Liu's shoulder gently.

Mr Liu guides them to the blue and green tent that was already built in the middle of the site. The green tent belongs to her mom and dad while the blue one is for her and Ericka.

" Thank you so much Mr. Liu!" mom smiled at him.

"I will leave you for a moment to rest because later on, we will be having a quick tour. I'll show you everything here." Mr. Liu waved goodbye as he walk away from them.

"Let's get inside the tent Ericka!" Aera happily pulled Ericka inside the tent as she puts down all their belongings.

Ericka lays down her petite body inside the tent while Aera was giggling while she rolled her body playfully.

"Take a rest first Aera. Aren't you tired from travelling?" Ericka asked her.

"Nope! I'm so excited! I want to play and stroll in the forest!" Ericka didn't answer her and when she turn to look at her, she's already sleeping with her mouth slightly open. Then she remembered her lollipops.

She opened her bag and pulled out her bags of lollipop. She was about to open her favorite one when a wild rabbit entered their tent and snatched her favorite. Then the rabbit run in the deepest part of the forest.

She searched around for a help but she couldn't find anyone. She thought maybe her parents were taking a nap inside their tent. She didn't think any further and followed the rabbit alone inside the forest.

She found herself in the middle of the forest and stopped for a moment to admire the beauty of the nature. There were wild yellow and white flowers scattered everywhere. The trees were tall and the wind was whistling.

After a minute of enjoying the view, she decided to look for the rabbit who took her lollipop. She started running again when she heard a loud growl that was coming near her.

Her heart pounded fast as she run her life through the darkness of the forest.

"Help! Please someone help me!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. She tried to run as fast as she could but the animal is faster than her. When she turn around, her eyes widened in horror when she saw a black bear looking hungry searching for a prey.

Her face were filled with tears and her legs were wobbly and she knew she would pass out anytime. Her body was getting weaker and her vision getting blurred.

She was losing hope. She stopped and closed her eyes to prepare for the attack and ready to be eaten alive when she heard someone throwing stone at the bear.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I watched my husband sign the papers that would end our marriage while he was busy texting the woman he actually loved. He didn't even glance at the header. He just scribbled the sharp, jagged signature that had signed death warrants for half of New York, tossed the file onto the passenger seat, and tapped his screen again. "Done," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. That was Dante Moretti. The Underboss. A man who could smell a lie from a mile away but couldn't see that his wife had just handed him an annulment decree disguised beneath a stack of mundane logistics reports. For three years, I scrubbed his blood out of his shirts. I saved his family's alliance when his ex, Sofia, ran off with a civilian. In return, he treated me like furniture. He left me in the rain to save Sofia from a broken nail. He left me alone on my birthday to drink champagne on a yacht with her. He even handed me a glass of whiskey—her favorite drink—forgetting that I despised the taste. I was merely a placeholder. A ghost in my own home. So, I stopped waiting. I burned our wedding portrait in the fireplace, left my platinum ring in the ashes, and boarded a one-way flight to San Francisco. I thought I was finally free. I thought I had escaped the cage. But I underestimated Dante. When he finally opened that file weeks later and realized he had signed away his wife without looking, the Reaper didn't accept defeat. He burned down the world to find me, obsessed with reclaiming the woman he had already thrown away.
