Damaged Mafias Chapter 1 Encounter with the enemy

Ginevra

Watching lifeless bodies hit the ground was something I looked forward to seeing every single day. The tears and the pleas right before I cut them off from their misery always satisfied me. I tossed a man named Jackson Greg's dead body to the side took pictures of his face and sent them to my dad. This man owed my father sixty thousand dollars, which resulted in my father sending my partner in crime Jason, and me to kill him. These idiots should know better than to take credit from my ruthless father who shows absolutely no mercy even if they beg and talk about their innocent kids at home.

I grabbed my gun and shoved it in my pants when I heard sirens from outside which I found strange. Since when do police come right away to the scene of a murder?

I looked over at Jason and he had the same look of surprise on his face. He grabbed my hand and we ran up the stairs and onto the roof, good thing we always have a backup plan."It's time to jump off buildings," He joked. I rolled my eyes in response and tied up my brunette hair into a quick bun. He tied a rope and I slowly climbed down, trying not to slip. When we both got down, I was startled by guns pointing at our heads.

A man in a black suit came up to us."Looks like you guys took the bait" He chuckled."Idiot!"Jason snarled at me.

Is he joking right now, both of us basically made the decision to lure the man here, kill him, and use our plan B to get out of there by climbing down the roof on a rope and here he is blaming me!

"Weren't you the one who suggested that we climb down the building!"I yelled angrily. "No dummy, I said jump buildings!" "We aren't spiderman !"I yelled back angrily.

"Can you two, stop acting like babies!"The man's voice boomed angrily.

He looked at us both and made a call on his phone."Boss, I got two intruders and they killed Jackson".If only there weren't so many guards pointing at us with guns, I would have been able to take them all out by myself. Jason is my partner in crime and also my childhood friend, but sometimes he can be a pain in the ass and acts like a bad friend whenever we get into some serious problem.

Being in the mafia has its ups and downs but mostly downs. Being rich and well-respected is one of the advantages, the downs are mostly turning psychotic from all the dead souls that return to hunt you down, possibly getting killed by your enemy, and having friends means that their gonna act two-faced one day or another.

If we make it out alive, I'm pretty sure he's gonna go back to my dad and bad-talk me on how such a great job I did today, completely excluding him in it.

Suddenly a black Mercedes approached us and out came my biggest enemy Leonardo De Luca. That man sickens me up to this day, with his cocky personality."Well if it isn't Ginevra Bianchi, "He smirked hinting a bit of disgust at my surname."In the flash" I stated forcing a smile on my face.

"Did Daddy send you to do his dirty work again" He mocked. I rolled my eyes and decided to ignore him. He brought out a knife from a yellow cloth that had his family's crest on it. I showed no fear towards him as he came towards me with a wide grin.

I endured a lot of pain in the past, nothing he could do to me would make me feel scared. "Tell Daddy, I send him a message"He stated seriously.

He passed me and pushed Jason onto the ground. I turned around and closed my eyes as I heard Jason cry out in pain. Serves him right! "You may leave Bellissima(beautiful)" He stated and winked at me.

He walked past me and entered his car, I watched as his guards left as well and I rushed over to Jason."Leonardo is a dick" he groaned."He wasn't the one screaming like a little girl" I muttered under my breath. Jason loved playing like he was the biggest boss but was pretty much scared of torture.

I called Kyle, my dad's professional driver to come pick us up. Kyle was a part of the Mafia as well, he's very skilled in driving, which includes racing and getting away from the enemy. He's one of Dad's loyal companions. I ignored Jason's grunt of pain every second and stared at my fingernails. If only I weren't doing tasks every day, I would have gotten them done.

Turning eighteen last month, made me recognize that I loved getting to the girly side of myself. Dressing up and going out with the girls to clubs and having men approach me only to cower in fear when they noticed who I really was.

Kyle hurried over to me and Jason and dragged him inside the vehicle." Mrs.Bianchi" he said as he opened the door for me. I smiled at him and sat down next to a pale Jason, little me would have been crying by now, but the number one rule of being in the mafia is to show no sympathy. I don't even care if he died or not, especially since he betrayed me many times before.

"I want to go to the Milian cathedral," I stated as I stared out the window.

"No problem"

We came to a stop and I hopped off. I walked into the church and as usual, not one person was there. I bent down on my knee and held my cross in my hands. I started praying, The Hail Mary and our Father, I always come here after I do these deadly sins, in the hope that God would forgive me. Not that I expect him to, since I keep doing the same thing over and over.

"Lord forgive me for my sins, in Jesus's name I pray, Amen!"

I got up on my feet and walked towards that basket of offerings and placed a one hundred bill inside. I quickly shut off my phone, when I saw the twenty missed calls from Dad. Knowing that, he would come looking for me, I rushed out onto the street and took a cab.

I headed towards the park, where I could clear my mind off the amount of people I killed today. I killed thirty-five people, today and I didn't need Jason's help. Dad insisted that I needed to learn how to kill like a pro, Jason always takes credit. When I'm the one who does all the killing and torturing.

I lay back on the grass and looked at the kids playing with one another. Kids are cute, but with the way I grew up and the conditions I'm in, there's no way, I would be able to have one. I would immediately put it in danger, or it would distract me from doing my tasks. I want to be a good mother but I'm not a good person.

A small blue ball rolled over near me and a small boy approached me. I grabbed the ball and placed it into his hands."Thank you, pretty lady" He beamed.

I smiled warmly at him and watched as he marched his way back to his friends.

I turned on my phone and frowned at the pictures my father sent me of what Leonardo did to Jason. There were all kinds of markings on his back and a message saying "Stay out of my way Enzo."

Enzo was my father's name. I guessed the only reason, Leonardo targeted Jason was because he knows my dad prefer Jason over me. Which is really sad.

Dad hated the fact that my late mother only gave birth to a female heir. Mother died after giving birth to me due to losing a lot of blood and other complications. He always wanted a male heir, since he believed males are strong and brilliant and females are weak human beings who belonged in the kitchen. Which absolutely disgusts me! Women are much stronger than what men describe us to be, they wouldn't dare give birth to a baby if they could, not to mention the struggles of having periods. We could do anything, once we set our minds to it.

I sighed deeply and called Kyle to pick me up. After a few minutes of waiting, he showed up.

I opened the door quickly and hopped in.

"Your father is angry with you, so brace yourself" He stated as he raised his eyebrow to look at me. I rolled my eyes in response and closed my eyes, trying to not think about what awaited me at home.

Moments later, I woke up when I heard the gates of the Mansion open. Our mansion was pretty huge and a little place of comfort, especially when my father wasn't around to spoil the mood. I thanked the driver and walked towards the house.

Despite the house feeling gloomy and awful due to my father being present. My uncle Allision and his wife Amelia were smooching on the couch. I gaged and threw a pillow, I found nearby at them. "Get a room!"I yelled and pretended like I was about to vomit. He rolled his eyes at me placed her in his arms, and headed up the stairs.

I walked towards my father's office, feeling a bit lightened due to My uncle and his wife's presence. I breathed in deeply and opened the door, his back was turned and I could hear him laughing like a maniac.

"GINEVRA!"

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch-a titan of industry and my best friend's father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

My cousin Hailey paid a dock worker to assault me just to ruin my engagement. To survive the military-grade aphrodisiac she poisoned me with, I stumbled into a walk-in freezer and threw myself onto the only source of cold I could find-a man paralyzed by unnatural hypothermia. It was a desperate, primal exchange of my heat for his ice just to keep my heart from stopping. But when Hailey threw open the heavy iron door, leading my fiancé and the entire Bolton family to witness my "shame," her triumphant grin instantly vanished. She hadn't caught me with a low-life thug. She had caught me straddling Demetrius Maddox, the ruthless Iron King of Chicago. The air in the room dropped to absolute zero. My grandmother screamed in horror, and my father turned the color of ash. Hailey, blinded by jealousy, tried to double down. She pointed a manicured finger at the deadliest man in the city and called him a "nameless muscle" I picked up to defile the family name. She didn't realize she had just signed her own death warrant. I didn't cower. I realized this was the only chance to survive the family that wanted me dead. I walked up to the Devil himself, my body still humming with the poison, and looked him in the eye. "Kill me, and the cold inside you wins," I whispered, knowing he was dying from the inverse of my own poison. "I am the only doctor who knows how to cure you." Demetrius tightened his hand around my throat, his dark eyes assessing my worth. "Prove it," he growled. I turned back to my trembling cousin and signaled the enforcer to hand me the whip.

I stood in the pouring rain at my father-in-law's funeral, the heels of my black pumps sinking into the mud. I was Mrs. Vargas, the wife of New York's most powerful billionaire, yet I was standing at the edge of the crowd like a forgotten statue. Ten feet away, under the dry shelter of the family tent, my husband Hayes held another woman against his chest. It wasn't me he was whispering comfort to; it was Felicity, his late brother's widow and childhood sweetheart. The humiliation didn't end at the cemetery. Hayes moved Felicity and her son into our home, relegating me to the guest wing while she took over the primary suites. He watched silently as her son smashed the only photograph of my deceased parents, then demanded I apologize for "scaring" the boy with my reaction. When Felicity's negligence ruined a twelve-million-dollar family heirloom, Hayes had the audacity to ask me to use my own savings to buy her a "consolation" engagement ring. He treated me like a parasite, never realizing I was a brilliant scientist with a hidden fortune and three patents to my name. I realized then that our three-year marriage was a hollow farce. Hayes had never even touched me, claiming he wanted to "remain pure" for his memory of Felicity. I was nothing more than a business merger, a smudge on the lens of the perfect family portrait he was building with another man's widow. The breaking point came during a lethal blizzard. Hayes promised to accompany me to my family's mandatory gala-a tradition where my absence meant a death sentence. But at the last second, he stood me up to stay home and tend to Felicity's stubbed toe. Left alone to face the wrath of the Santos Matriarch, I was forced to kneel in the freezing snow as punishment until my lungs began to fail and my vision blurred. Just as the darkness started to take me, a black Maybach smashed through the iron gates. My exiled brother, the man the world calls "The Wolf," stepped out of the storm to reclaim what Hayes had discarded. Hayes thought I was a helpless doll who couldn't survive a day without his trust fund, but he's about to find out what happens when you let a Santos daughter freeze.
