HEART OF AN ALPHA

Chapter One

Third person's POV

Alpha Blade clenches his fist tight in anger and stares at the wall blankly trying to calm himself from punching someone in the face. He grits his teeth in anger and snaps his head towards the direction of his pack advisor. Collins, Alpha Blade's pack advisor shows no ounce of fear, he places his hands on his waist and raises a brow at Alpha Blade.

"You need to calm down Alpha Blade. I am only telling you this for the betterment of you and the pack." Collins pauses to sigh heavily. Alpha Blade scoffs at Collins' words.

"For the betterment of the pack? Fine, I agree but for the betterment of me? I do not agree with Collins, that is bullshit!" Alpha Blade snaps at Collins. His harsh tone causes Collins to step back and release a heavy sigh.

"Alpha Blade. Should we not be more focused on the pack and not on you? That is one of the attributes of a leader. Selflessness. Always put the pack first and then revenge can come in later." Collins says to Alpha Blade.

He tries to hold himself from yelling back at his Alpha because that is an abomination and that would only put him in a lot of trouble regardless of his good intentions.

Alpha Blade scoffs at the mention of revenge. He pauses to shoot dagger glares at Collins and proceeds to say "I was never seeking your approval, Collins, I only gave you an instruction and that was to find the location of the Ironfur's pack house. If you can not do that then you are useless to me." Alpha Blade spits out.

He casts one last glance at Collins and begins to walk away from his pack advisor. Collins yells Alpha Blade's name several times and even tries to calm him down but Alpha Blade has made up his mind to locate the Ironfur's pack house by himself and at all cost.

Alpha Blade tucks his hands into his pockets and makes his way out of the pack house. He walks past the woods that are just a few miles away from his pack house. Alpha Blade freezes in his steps when he hears the snapping of a twig and a loud growl coming from the woods.

Everyone in the town knows better than to step into the woods because it holds a history of dangerous incidents that have happened to people. Incidents like being eaten by a hungry wolf or worse-case scenarios like being hunted by human hunters.

Alpha Blade scrunches his brows in confusion at the sudden connection he feels with the woods. He takes a step closer and closer until he finds himself inside the dark quiet woods. He is suddenly startled by the snapping noise of a tree branch accompanied by rapid footsteps drawing closer to her.

The footsteps draw closer until Alpha Blade accidentally collides with someone. The force is enough to cause him to stagger backward but his fast reflexes allow him to maintain his stance.

Alpha Blade growls in anger and looks up to glare at the culprit but his anger immediately disappears when his eyes come in contact with a certain pair of piercing green eyes.

His anger vanishes as he beholds the beauty of a petite lady leaning on a tree and panting excessively.

"Watch where you are going!" The lady snaps at Alpha Blade with a huge scowl on her face. Alpha Blade's eyes move from her face to the weapons hanging carelessly out of her bag.

He wonders if she is a werewolf hunter but then his wolf senses that she is a werewolf just like him.

"What are you doing all alone in such dangerous woods? Do you have a death wish?" Alpha Blade snaps at her causing her to scoff at his words and shake her head at him.

"Why? Is it because I am a woman?" The lady snaps back at him.

"No, the woods are generally dangerous for both men and women. Especially for a lone wolf like you." Alpha Blade deadpans. The lady stares at him in shock at how he could easily tell that she has no pack members.

"Do not look surprised." Alpha Blade notices the look on her face.

"No alpha would let their pack member step into this dangerous woods all by themselves which only means one thing, you are a lone wolf." Alpha Blade says. The lady smiles at him, impressed by his deductions.

"Nice deductions." The lady says with a small smile plastered on her face.

"So why do you not tell me what happened to your pack? Did they kick you out and why?" Alpha Blade throws questions at her suddenly growing interest in her.

She raises a brow at his question. "Do you not think you are asking too many questions especially since we just met a few minutes ago?"

Alpha Blade walks towards her, grabs her by the wrist, and drags her out of the woods ignoring how she struggles to get out of his tight grip. They eventually make their way out of the woods, he lets go of her wrist and watches her shoot dagger glares at me.

"Why did you do that?" She snaps at him.

"I do not know if you have heard of Miss but the woods are really dangerous. You could get yourself killed for nothing." Alpha Blade says.

"First off, my name is Jessica, and second of all, I am fully aware that the woods are dangerous. Getting myself killed for nothing? No way, I am doing this for my pack members!" Jessica yells at Alpha Blade. He notices how her voice becomes shaky and her eyes become teary.

"What happened to your pack Jessica? Are they dead?" Alpha Blade asks with his tone laced with concern. Jessica releases a sigh of defeat and nods her head in response.

"Yes, all of them are dead. They got burnt into a fire." Jessica says bending her head low and avoiding eye contact with Alpha Blade. She allows the hot tears to fall down her cheeks.

"Who did it? How did it happen and how does that have anything to do with the woods?" Alpha Blade asks. Jessica looks up to glare at him, she wipes the tears away from her eyes and scrunches her brows at me. She wonders why he is so curious about her story.

"Why do you care so much about me? Have we met before?" Jessica asks.

"No, but I know what it feels like to lose your loved ones. I also know what it feels like to be alone. I still feel that sense of loneliness and pain in my chest every time. That is why I am curious about you Jessica." Alpha Blade replies.

"Well if you must know, I lost my pack members in a fire that was set by a ruthless Alpha of a very powerful pack. Why was I in the woods? It is because someone led me to the woods, that I was tricked that the Alpha would be there." Jessica says.

"What Alpha? What pack?" Alpha Blade asks as his curiosity grows.

"Alpha Julian of the Ironfur pack." Jessica deadpans. Alpha Blade staggers backward in shock at her words. He stares at her in disbelief and pretends to have not heard her correctly so he questions again "What did you say? I didn't quite hear you, could you repeat yourself?"

"I said Alpha Julian of the Ironfur pack. Why do you look so surprised? Do you know him? Do you have an idea of where the Ironfur pack house is located or where I can find Alpha Julian?" Jessica rants.

Alpha Blade gulps a lump down his throat and slowly processes Jessica's words.

"I know him and I want him dead the same way you do." Alpha Blade says through gritted teeth. Jessica stares at him and notices how a huge scowl on his face appears. She looks reluctant about his response but the look on his face can easily explain the anger he feels for Alpha Julian.

"Why? Did he hurt you too?" Jessica asks. Alpha Blade nods his head and bites his lower lip as a painful memory slowly replays in his head causing him to clench his fist tight.

"It does not matter what he did. I want revenge and I will get it at all cost." Alpha Blade manages to say.

Jessica nods her head in agreement. "We are both after the same thing then. What a coincidence."Jessica says. She clears her throat and walks towards him slowly. Jessica leans closer to him and whispers into his ears softly.

"If we have the same agenda, do you not think it would be such a pleasant idea if we work together and capture Alpha Julian? Let us make him pay for what he did to us and most importantly, make him regret ever hurting us."
