The Lycan King's Destiny Chapter 1 0001

*Kayla's point of view*

Recently, life has been fucking me over in so many ways than one. It was as if I had a personal beef with life and it just wouldn't give me a fucking break.

I am a she-wolf and you'd think I had the good stuff but you'd be sorely mistaken.

I lived under the oppressive rule of step siblings who despised everything about me. They hated everything, even the very air I breathe because of fabricated reasons and lowered my status down to their slave.

My blood sister and their parents died in a ghastly accident and they blamed me for it.

Apparently, to them I was bad luck and an unfortunate person that brought gloom and doom everywhere I went despite the numerous times that I cried about my innocence.

The most pathetic thing was that there was nothing I could do about it. I was just an adopted child raised by their parents who treated me fairly well considering the fact my late mother had an affair with their father.

Now, this is where it gets really bad and also really interesting.

On my step sister's birthday. I had found my destined mate and I thought life would be a bit easier, but my step sister claimed him for herself and here's the kicker, he was the alpha of our pack.

I was pressured to accept the rejection because according to the pack, I wasn't fit to rule and my step sister was a far better choice.

I could still remember that day as if it was yesterday, how broken and helpless I had felt, how my heart had been shattered into a gazillion pieces and the pain of the rejection nearly drove me to madness.

In the end, I had settled to drinking heavily at a local bar, determined to use the alcohol to drown my sorrows.

Leaning against the stained walls, I clutched my glass of tequila, my sixth in the last hour which was a new all time record for me.

The numbness I sought after eluded me however, no matter how hard I hunted it.

I wanted to drown away my sorrows, trying to forget about the Alpha choosing my sister over me and tears, hot stinging tears dripped down my cheeks as I drank more tequila to numb the pain.

As my vision began to blur a little, I spotted a man sitting a few seats away. A very, extremely handsome man. He had long dark hair and a pair of heavenly blue eyes that made you feel like you were sinking into them.

Our eyes met and I didn't know how he did or if he even did anything but some effects of the tequila vanished and I gulped nervously.

"Mind if I join you?" He had closed the distance between us and technically joined me even before I could accept his request.

I shrugged and continued my drinking spree, doing my best to ignore this hot stranger who looked like he had stepped out of a magazine.

"To be honest, I'm here looking for a good time." He leaned in and whispered into my ears, his hot breath making the hairs on my neck stand, either in shock or arousal... I wasn't sure yet.

"Well, you found the right place then." I didn't even realize what I was saying before the words stumbled out of my mouth but... why not?

We exchanged a few more words, him complimenting me and I was flirting back. I was usually a shy person but under the strong effect of alcohol, that shyness took a back seat and I was in my element, not really in my element but yeah you get the point.

One thing lead to the other and the dude's mouth was on mine, ravaging them like it was his property. Like he had been in the desert, starved of water for months and my mouth was the only oasis that could quench his thirst.

The funny thing was that I barely resisted, I gave myself up just like that.

Then he tore my dress and I swear, I thought we teleported but I found myself in a hotel in record time and the rest of the night was suddenly a blur.

******

"Good morning beautiful. You were incredible last night." His deep husky voice was the first thing I heard when I woke up this morning. .

I opened my eyes and turned, staring at his magnificent form, he was seated and wearing only shorts and his bare chest was on display. My eyes dipped lower and I gasped when I saw his... mighty sword still proudly standing.

"Wait." I checked myself and I realized to my absolute horror, I was completely naked and the bedstains on the bed confirmed my worst fears, I was no longer a virgin.

Tears welled up in my eyes. I had just fucking lost my virginity to... to... to a man that I didn't even know. I didn't even know his name!

Today and yesterday was officially crowned the worst day of my lentire life.

I tried to formulate words but it was no use, I broke down instead, crying my eyes out but then, I felt his strong hands pull me in for a warm hug, his heartbeat felt nice and the way the heat from his body flowed into mine calmed me down.

*I didn't know you were a virgin, I wouldn't have touched you at all if that was the case." He said sweetly, raising my head to stare into his eyes. "regardless, I was gentle with you.'

Again, I couldn't form words. It was like my brain turned to mush anytime I stared at him and I didn't know what to say or do. This was a crazy situation to be in.

And then, he leaned and claimed my lips once more in a soft kiss.

I went to the New York City Clerk's office to handle a simple administrative matter, but the woman behind the glass handed me a nightmare instead. It was a certified marriage license from Clark County, Nevada, filed exactly three months ago. My vision blurred as I read the name in the spouse field: Baxter Noel. I was legally married to the ruthless billionaire whose legal team was currently suing me for intellectual property theft and trying to destroy my career. I remembered the conference in Las Vegas and a drink that tasted far too sweet, followed by a twelve-hour black hole in my memory that I had chalked up to exhaustion. When I sought help at my family's estate, my stepmother and sister didn't offer comfort; they stole my passport, shredded my clothes, and framed me for academic plagiarism to strip away my university fellowship. Even Baxter himself looked me in the eye with cold indifference, claiming he didn't know me and promising to have me arrested for fraud if I ever showed him that document again. Within twenty-four hours, I was homeless, jobless, and being hunted by the most powerful man in the city. I couldn't understand why a man who "eats people for breakfast" would be caught in the same trap as a struggling scientist like me. The confusion turned to pure terror when I looked at the witness signature on the license: Gene Mcclain. My mother, who was supposed to have died in a car crash ten years ago, had signed that paper with a fresh, trembling hand only ninety days ago. "I am holding a grenade, and I have no idea when the pin was pulled." Standing in the biting November wind with nothing but a laptop and a marriage license, I realized I was just a pawn in a much deadlier game. I stopped running and began to fight back, determined to use my unwanted status as the billionaire's wife to uncover the truth about the mother who came back from the dead.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

I married Clive Harrington, the coldest billionaire in Manhattan, under a strict contract that forbade any emotional burdens. When I needed a high-risk surgery to save my sight, I checked into the clinic alone, hiding the procedure from a husband who saw me as nothing more than a legal asset. I thought I could handle the darkness in silence. But while I was blind and bandaged in my hospital bed, my biological mother called, screaming that if I didn't produce a Harrington heir by the end of the fiscal year, she would cut off the life-saving treatments for my disabled sister. I was crawling on the cold hospital floor, desperately feeling for a cane I had dropped, when I touched a pair of expensive leather shoes. It was Clive. He was supposed to be in London closing a multi-million dollar deal, but there he was, watching his "contract wife" groveling in the dark like a beggar. He didn't walk away in disgust. He carried me to a five-thousand-dollar-a-night VIP suite and sat by my bed, listening in chilling silence as another voicemail from my mother filled the room, calling me a "useless broodmare" who was only worth the trust fund disbursements my marriage secured. I expected him to remind me of Clause 34B or hand me divorce papers now that I was "damaged goods." Instead, I felt his thumb brush a stray tear from my cheek, his presence shifting from a statue of ice into a predatory shield. "I thought I was just currency to you," I whispered, my voice trembling behind the gauze. "Just an investment." Clive didn't answer with words. He picked up his phone and called his head of legal with a single, terrifying command: "Kill the Douglas family’s credit lines. Every debt, every lien—trigger them all. If they want a war, I’ll give them a massacre." As he leaned down to kiss my bandaged forehead, I realized the contract was dead. My husband wasn't protecting an asset anymore; he was hunting the people who had dared to touch what belonged to him.
