Chapter 1 The clinic remained quiet

In the doctor's office in a clinic located in a corner of the city, the atmosphere is very quiet. Only the sound of medical equipment humming softly and the ticking of the wall clock fill the silence. Doctor Aryo, a young doctor who is known to be kind but very professional, is checking his patient's files before starting his morning consultation session.

The room is decorated with neutral paint, minimalist furniture, and health education posters on the walls. The door to the office is slightly ajar, and from outside, a young woman stands nervously. The woman, Sari, checks her watch while taking a deep breath, trying to calm herself before entering.

Sari is a twenty-five-year-old woman with big eyes and long, flowing hair. Today is her first visit to this clinic, and she feels a mixture of worry and hope. She goes through a list of stress-related illnesses that she has created herself-and now she really hopes that the doctor can help her.

When she finally steps into the room, Doctor Aryo greets her with a warm smile. "Good morning, Sari. How can I help you today?" asked Doctor Aryo, adjusting his glasses on his nose.

Sari smiled slightly, though her nervousness was still evident on her face. "Good morning, Doctor Aryo. I've been feeling under the weather lately, and I'm very stressed. I also have frequent headaches and trouble sleeping," she replied, trying to express her feelings clearly.

Doctor Aryo nodded, a gesture that showed that he understood Sari's complaint. "Okay, let's see what we can do to help you. Please take a seat in the examination chair," he said, pointing to a comfortable chair in the corner of the room.

Sari sat down carefully, and Doctor Aryo began to check her blood pressure. "Do you have a history of other illnesses or are you taking any medications?" asked Doctor Aryo as he measured Sari's blood pressure.

"So far, I've only taken vitamins every morning. No history of other illnesses," Sari replied, looking toward the open window next to her, which let in soft sunlight.

Doctor Aryo nodded again and continued the physical examination. "Stress can affect your health in many ways. We will run some tests to make sure that there are no more serious health problems. Also, we may need to discuss stress management strategies," he said in a calming tone.

Sari felt a little relieved by the doctor's explanation. "Thank you, Doctor. I really feel like this is a result of my very stressful job and daily life," he said in a hopeful tone.

After some additional examinations and tests, Doctor Aryo gave some suggestions on how to deal with stress. "Try to exercise regularly, meditate, and maybe talk about your feelings with someone you trust. Also, we will follow up on your test results next week to make sure everything is okay," Doctor Aryo said in a serious but caring tone.

Sari nodded and stood up, feeling calmer after getting guidance from Doctor Aryo. "Thank you very much, Doctor. I will follow your advice and hope everything will get better," he said gratefully.

Doctor Aryo smiled and shook Sari's hand. "You are welcome, Sari. Do not hesitate to contact us if you feel you need further assistance. Hopefully you will feel better soon."

After Sari left the room, Dr. Aryo returned to his desk and continued his work, making sure that all the records and test results were neatly arranged. Despite his busy schedule, he felt satisfied to be able to help his patients, giving the best of his ability.

The clinic remained quiet, only interrupted by the sound of soft footsteps in the corridor and the whisper of the neon lights above. Dr. Aryo continued his work, ready to face the next patients, with dedication and enthusiasm that never faded.

"Let's get married," Mia declares, her voice trembling despite her defiant gaze into Stefan's guarded brown eyes. She needs this, even if he seems untouchable. Stefan raises a skeptical brow. "And why would I do that?" His voice was low, like a warning, and it made her shiver even though she tried not to show it. "We both have one thing in common," Mia continues, her gaze unwavering. "Shitty fathers. They want to take what's ours and give it to who they think deserves it." A pointed pause hangs in the air. "The only difference between us is that you're an illegitimate child, and I'm not." Stefan studies her, the heiress in her designer armor, the fire in her eyes that matches the burn of his own rage. "That's your solution? A wedding band as a weapon?" He said ignoring the part where she just referred to him as an illegitimate child. "The only weapon they won't see coming." She steps closer, close enough for him to catch the scent of her perfume, gunpowder and jasmine. "Our fathers stole our birthrights. The sole reason they betrayed us. We join forces, create our own empire that'll bring down theirs." A beat of silence. Then, Stefan's mouth curves into something sharp. "One condition," he murmurs, closing the distance. "No divorces. No surrenders. If we're doing this, it's for life" "Deal" Mia said without missing a beat. Her father wants to destroy her life. She wouldn't give him the pleasure, she would destroy her life as she seems fit. ................ Two shattered heirs. One deadly vow. A marriage built on revenge. Mia Meyers was born to rule her father's empire (so she thought), until he named his bastard son heir instead. Stefan Sterling knows the sting of betrayal too. His father discarded him like trash. Now the rivals' disgraced children have a poisonous proposal: Marry for vengeance. Crush their fathers' legacies. Never speak of divorce. Whoever cracks first loses everything. Can these two rivals, united by their vengeful hearts, pull off a marriage of convenience to reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs? Or will their fathers' animosity, and their own complicated pasts tear their fragile alliance apart?
