Chapter 1 The Favored Luna

SASKIA

"Come here, Owie! I can't measure up with your pace!" I called

at my familiar owl, flying towards the heart of the forest.

It's a bright night and the right time to gather my ingredients

for the potion I am going to make.

Yes, I am a witch. An immortal witch, blessed by the moon. I

live in between the territory of Remus Pack and Storm Forest Pack. But because

I was blessed by the moon, no one can ever harm me. I knew all the secrets lay

in the neighboring packs. I knew them very well. And even if they tried to hurt

me, I knew how to protect myself.

But I am sure no one will dare to hurt me. All of them need me

and my knowledge of witch crafts. Each of those packs comes to me to get my

help. I don't side with anyone who is battling against each other. I helped

those who asked for my help and that was it.

"Hey! Owie, come here!" I called up my familiar friend.

He stopped at the branch of a tree, near a crystal clear lagoon.

Well, that lagoon was the sacred lagoon. That was where I got the message from

the Moon Goddess.

"Come down, here, Owie!" I yelled.

The owl just makes his coo-coo sound. The lagoon suddenly glowed

and shined brightly.

I knew it! The moon was sending me a message.

Soon, the lagoon showed a beautiful face of a woman. Her eyes

were green, her face was gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. She was such a beauty!

Her face was lonely but soon, it turned fierce. Her eyes were

glowing green, brightly shining. The bright future seemed to reflect in her

face.

"I think I saw this face," I whispered to myself.

"Saskia..." I heard a voice echoing around the whole forest. I

looked around. No one was there. Or maybe it was inside my head?

"From now on, you're going to guide her. The future Luna of the

Remus pack."

I gasped in surprise. "Oh my God! The voice! Was it from the

Moon Goddess?"

Owie made another sound. Now, it was long and sounded hearty.

I looked back at the lagoon. The face was slowly fading, the

glitter too. Until the glow of the bright moon that shines on me, started to

fade also.

LAURA

"Gosh! My boobs, Alaric... suck my tits! Oh, my! Good! You're

great! You're really great!"

I closed my eyes and covered both of my hands with my ears. I

was just curious about what Alaric and Ivy would be doing in the storage room

near the staircase on the second floor. And I hated myself for being curious. I

quickly regretted following them. I should not have followed them.

"Darn! Oh my God! I love your fingers... your long fingers," Ivy

groaned wildly.

The door was barely closed, that's why I could still hear them.

There's a tiny space between the door jamb and the door leaves and I could see

them. Alaric's hand was inside Ivy's tiny skirt. Her school uniform was open in

front, her boobs were out of her brassiere and Alaric was sucking one of her

tits, massaging her left mountain.

Alaric pulled out his fingers from Ivy's skirt and put it in his

mouth, sucking the juice from it. His eyes were hotly gazing at Ivy's aroused

face.

Ivy chuckled. "Did I taste delicious?" Ivy flirtatiously asked.

"You always did! You are hot!" Alaric exclaimed.

"You're great... always great!" Ivy claimed his mouth

provocatively. "Too bad I am not your mate. Once you find your mate, we can't

do it anymore."

"Why not? We can still do it and no one can ever stop me. I am

going to be the next Alpha."

"Yeah. And your Luna will be the luckiest." Ivy's voice was

laced with fake regret.

"Do you want to be my luna?"

"Who would not want that? It's every she-wolf's dream!"

"Then... I'll make you the next Remus pack's Luna," Alaric

promised her.

That's it! I heard enough!

I kicked the door open. I don't care if Ivy's boobs were still

out for viewing. I've been seeing them together since the start of our

college's first semester. Alaric has been always with other girls since that

day he found out I was his mate. He couldn't accept that his mate was someone

who couldn't shift. Someone who doesn't have a wolf. How can I be able to be

his Luna if I don't have a wolf? I was such a disgrace in our pack. I turned

eighteen three months ago and my parents and I hoped I'd shift on that day.

They said some shifted late. If I didn't shift on my thirteenth birthday, then

maybe on my eighteenth. But my eighteenth birthday happened and still no

shifting at all.

Will I ever shift?

I don't think so.

That must be the reason why Alaric was so disgusted to know I

was his mate. Since that day he found out, there was no single time that he

would not give me a furious look. He hated me that much, and it pained me a

lot. I wonder how it would feel if he rejected me.

"What are you doing here, you pathetic bitch!?" Ivy hissed

angrily at me as she quickly fixed her school uniform.

"You can't be his Luna, Ivy. You can't be!" I hissed back. My

anger was doubled with hers.

Ivy's brown eyes quickly fired up and started to turn gold. "And

who the hell are you to tell me that? Do you forget where your position is? You

don't have the right to tell me what I can, and I can not be!"

"I have," I smirked. "Because I am-"

"Shut it!" Alaric quickly took my arm and tightly grasped it,

pulling me out of the room.

"Let me go!" I tried to break free, but Alaric's grasping was

too strong.

He easily dragged me away from the storage room and took me to

the back area of the building.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.
