Chapter 1 Awaking to a nightmare
I hear a steady beep beep coming from next to me. My eyes feel glued shut. Like something was weighing them down. I tried lifting my hand to my eyes, to wipe them but something pulled at my arm and a sharp paid shot through my arm.
"What the hell!"
Was that my voice. Barely above a whisper. Gravely and dry. My throat was so dry, it felt as if I consumed a ton of salt.
I swallowed two, three, four times and tried speaking again: " Hallo?"
There was a alarm somewhere on my right. I try to open my eyes again and managed to peer through slits. Making out a very white room. Looking right I see a machine with monitors on it. I see a line from that and follow the line with my eyes and then I notice the line ending in my arm.
I hear a door open and a person coming in.
"Hallo, sleeping beauty. Did you finely decide to grace us with your presence?" I hear a tall man say in a blue nurses outfit.
"Where am I?" I managed with my gravely voice.
"Your at Laverna hospital. You've been in a coma for 6 months, love. How are you feeling?" He asked with a kind voice. Gentle hands tucking the cushion behind my head. Helping me to sit up a bit more.
"Can I get you anything?"
"Thirsty..." I barely get out.
He leaves for a few minutes and enters with a glass of ice blocks. Pressing 1 to my lips, I suck greedily on it.
"What happened?" I manage after a minute.
"You were in an accident and had a severe head injury." he responded. Taking a light and shining it into my eyes. Putting his finger in front of my eyes and gently say: " Follow please."
Taking a chart and making notes on them as he monitor the machine and write down again.
"Don't strain yourself. I'll get you more comfortable."
My eyes flutter shut and darkness envelope me again.
"Peter? Hi. You asked me to let you know if there is any change? She has woken." The tall nurse named Daniel spoke into his phone.
Peter stared at the phone in his hand. Unable to believe it. He has been waiting for this call for six months almost giving up hope to ever see his sister awake again.
"Thank you! I'm on my way!" Peter says with excitement in his voice.
Finely he can see her and maybe find out what happened. Also dreading the news that was lying heavily on his heart.
Damn Brian and Sarah for putting him in this situation. To be the person to have to relay the news of their indiscretion to Annah is a heavy burden to bare.
But for now he was just glad to be able to see his little sister again. Awake and recuperating. Not just a lifeless corpse lying on the bed anymore.
Running up the stairs to Laverna hospital where Peter have been seen every day for the past six months in the hope for some good news, he barely looked around and bumped into a man holding onto the arm of the brunette woman next to him.
Looking up he blanched and stepped aside. Feeling like a fire was set in his stomach he looked with disgust at the couple coming down the steps.
"Peter!" He hear his name on Brian's lips before the man looked down in shame and the women next to him smiled satisfied with herself.
Her condition unmistakable now to anyone who sees her.
"Peter. How are you? Everything okay?" Sarah says with a little disdain in her voice.
Peter not ready to reveal anything to either of them and not wanting to be held up by the despicable pair, "Get out of my face!" he sneer at them, before passing without another word or look.
Brian turns his head to see Peter entering the hospital doors. Wondering what has him in such a rush.
