"Henry, you need to grow up and begin to take responsibilities. Bultimal empire is so huge, and a man needs the support of a woman, his wife to get things done around the empire. Get married son" Roddy said. "Victoria has always been around and if it is getting married that will not take long to get started with" Henry said. Roddy and Henry got into the waiting car with two other people already sitted.
At about 9pm, Emergency! Emergency!! Emergency!!! Every staff on duty at the city of Manhattan St. Grace Hospital, rushed to the approaching ambulance with two people in critical conditions. "Male, mid-fifties, multiple fractures, possible internal bleeding," one of the paramedics shouted, pointing to the older man. "The other, a male, early thirties, head trauma, and deep lacerations."
Maya just resuming for duty threw on her overall uniform and rushed to give a hand to the stretcher carrying the injured. "Maya, setup the drip, get the oxygen ready, put up some steroids for the patients and get files ready for their details", "yes sir", Maya replied to the doctor. Tom, Maya's friend feels very unhappy with the emergency so decided to dodge by looking for a patient room where she pretends to be attending to the patient. After giving the patients details to Maya for her recording the family members of Bultimal were advised to go home "it is quite late I will see you tomorrow".
Its over three years, Maya a blonde hair, dark eyes damsel she is good looking had been working at St. Grace hospital, because of her dedication and skills a lot of staff and patient love and respect her. Even though her job demands putting up long hours and deep emotion, she loved her job. She takes it as a means of helping people and to escape the experiences of her humble background. She is the pride of her family, they depend on her, and she was makes it a duty to provide for them, no matter what it cost.
As she walked back into the emergency room, the doctor informed her "that patient there is in a coma, I guess that is the son while the father has been revived. Maya's heart quickened as she saw the severity of the patients' conditions. She handed over the file with the patients record to the doctor. As they worked, she glanced at the Henry, whose handsome features has been disfigured by his injuries. After they both have attended to the patients and they are stable, "keep an eye on them both while you prepare Roddy for surgery, I will be in my office". The doctor walked out of the emergency room and passed by the nurse common office, he dropped the file containing the staff record on the table "update that file in the system and keep the file".
"Who are they?" Tom asked the doctor as she has sneaked back into the nurse common room.
"That's Roddy Bultimal and his son, Henry," the doctor replied grimly.
Tom's eyes almost fell off her head in recognition of the Bultimal family. Roddy Bultimal was a well-known billionaire, the CEO of Bultimal Enterprises, a powerful figure in the city. His son, Henry, also well known, at various times have appeared on the pages of business and society magazines.
As the night passes the medical team fought to save the lives of the Bultimals. Roddy was stretchered to surgery for his internal injuries, while Henry was moved to the ICU since he is in coma. Tom, having realise the patient's identity decides to check on them. She pushed the door of the theatre opened, "Maya can you believe they are the Bultimals".
"Yes Tom, the father and his son".
"So how is the son doing"
"He is still in coma in the ICU while the father has undergone surgery, and he is doing well"
"Leave the father out for now, I am more concerned about the son, what a charming, handsome young man" Tom said.
"You are such a cruel person" Maya lashed out at her.
Maya's whose shift is almost coming to an end was cleaning up the instruments used during the treatment of the patients, tired and exhausted but she couldn't bring herself to leave. She wanted to ensure they were both out of danger.
Dr. Richards came out of his office, approaching Maya tired but relieved expression. "Good work tonight. You should go home and get some rest."
Maya nodded, but her mind was with the patients. "I'll just check on them one more time."
She made her way to the ICU, where Henry lay unconscious, his face pale but peaceful. She gently adjusted his IV drip and oxygen pipe, her fingers brushing against his hand. A jolt of electricity shot through her, startling her.
She stepped out to the ward where the Roddy is as she opened the door.
"Who are you?" Roddy whispered, his eyes fluttering open, his gaze locking onto hers. For a moment, time stood still. She moved closer to his bed and grab his hands.
"Where am I?" Roddy's voice was weak, but his eyes were intense.
"You're in the hospital. You had an accident, and my name is Maya a nurse in this hospital," Maya replied softly.
Roddy's grip tightened around her hand. "Don't leave me," he pleaded, his voice filled with desperation.
Maya's heart raced, and she squeezed his hand reassuringly. "I'm here. I won't leave you."
The door to the ward swung open, and a group of doctors and nurses rushed in, breaking the moment. Maya stepped back, her mind reeling from the encounter. As she left the ward, she could only imagine the feeling that her life was about to change in ways she couldn't imagine.
She beckoned to Tom so they could walk to the bus stop together. As the walk along Tom "how soon do you think Henry will be back from the coma"
"I am not sure, but I am afraid it might take some time because he has some head injury. The father should recover well in a couple of weeks".
"Head injury! The driver must have been speeding. Is tomorrow not your day off?".
"Yes, but I may have to come around so I can monitor the progress of the Bultimals".
"Come around? You don't need to come I will be here, and I will make sure I monitor their progress and give you a report of that when I call you at breaktime" Tom said.
