Chapter 1 Prologue

Alden

"Oh!" "My darlings. This is a day I really wish had never dawned."

From the back of the room came a voice. I looked to see whose voice was so angry but also sorrowful. My thoughts snapped back, "That is got to be my father's." I fixed my eyes on his tired face, already ruining his fine physique. My father is Alden, an Alpha of the Celestial Brotherhood Clan and a competent wolf. His body is almost entirely covered in hair, and he has an enigmatic, heavily-built frame with frantic hazel eyes and curly dark red hair. My lips were itching to inquire, but before I spoke, why was he looking so depressed, in a way he had never looked before?

"Hurry up, quickly!" "Now is the time to go, lest they discover us."

I turned around and glanced back at her already terrified-looking eyes. My only sister is Kira. She was just four, and I was ten. Four years ago, our mother passed away during childbirth. And my father has raised us alone ever since.

"Relax; everything will work out." "Let's go!" We both raced to our father as I gave her my assurance and put my arms around her. He immediately carried both of us on his shoulders and ran to the closest, safest location so he could hide us.

When my father unlocked the building's exit door when we got there, I was taken aback by what I saw. There were houses destroyed and bodies strewn over the floor as the flames burned fiercely everywhere. From the hamlet across our house, a solemn turmoil was rising; mothers' and children's cries could be heard in the distance, and soldiers' swords clanging could be heard in the distance.

He pulled us closer to his side and turned to go. I could feel his pulse thundering behind his back from how quickly he sprinted.

We went from our house and crossed two blocks to the front gate of a building that led to the warehouse of our clan. There was a huge olive tree right next to the gate. My sister ascended to the second branch after he swiftly carried her and set her on the first one. He carried me up too, and just as he was going to raise me even higher, we heard some soldiers' footsteps approaching.

"Kelan, move quickly! They have located us."

I was able to grab hold of a branch, and just in time, it pierced my palm so deeply that my vein was almost completely gone. I sobbed extensively. Even though I was in excruciating pain, I was still able to climb the tree and hide in the leaves.

"Are you alright?" His eyes brightened with curiosity when he inquired about the purpose of the sober.

"Indeed, father. I am alright. I was dishonest." My voice was grabbing hold of the thumping hand.

He spun about and dashed headlong into a defensive position in the direction they were heading. He seems to be all set and prepared to confront them and lay a trap for them. Alden is a valiant and skillful fighter who has won numerous wars for his tribe. He has engaged in multiple wars with some of the most powerful clans and tribes in Asia, as well as some well-known cities in the highlands close to the Caribbean jungle, and he has vanquished them all. Alden is a leader of principles, notwithstanding, and his leadership gives the population of the countries he has conquered the freedom to be his subordinates and allies in war. This makes Alden distinguished among all other leaders. He will not give up, surely. Not even while battling alone. As evidenced from his past lamentations, he obviously did not know about this one either, which might bother him.

"Kellan! Take care of Kira. Do not come down until I tell you to, no matter what happens. Do you comprehend?"

Before I could respond to my father, I spotted him moving toward the troops who were coming through the building's edge. He oscillated his swords deftly, as he knew the way, and his blade was glazing, slicing through the air with bursts of light. He struck like a bolt from the blue, ambushing and smearing all of the soldiers in one swift motion. I have confidence in him regardless. But presently, I began to have some doubts about my courage in believing that our clan would survive this inadvertent catastrophe.

Outside the gate, the sounds of crying and moaning from both young and old persisted, and I saw the expression of resentment and fury ebb from Alden's face. I observed him sprinting outdoors to defend his people, heading for the big gate that leads to the main city.

A chilly shudder went down my spine the moment he was out of sight. My hands were growing increasingly. My head was tapping with pain, and my eyes were starting to feel lightheaded due to the severe bleeding from the deep incision.

"Does it hurt you a lot?"

Kira sensed I was straining and in pain, and her small voice melted in.

"Use this medication here. I grabbed some of it from the household. I think it will enable you to maintain your energy levels until Aide arrives."

I took the medicine from her hands. I yelled out in agony at the medicine's instant efficacy as soon as I applied it. Soon after applying the medicine, I started to resuscitate and felt active once more, just as Kira had earlier informed me. Then there was a loud bang coming from the building's back door. Alden was pursuing a troop of troops that were moving toward us. He easily crossed paths with them, and then, with a single sword stroke, he unleashed his blueprint and crushed them all.

From the left corner of the structure, two more armed werewolves come at him via the door's opening; from a distance, I could not tell which of them was an Alpha, but I think the one with the rough dark patch on his face is. The second werewolf then turned to look at my father.

"Where is the treasure map located?" He enquired.

"It is futile in your hands, so I cannot let you have it." He responds with unwavering self-confidence and exhibits no fear.

"Hahaha!" "You genuinely believe that?" The dominant werewolf sneered. Extending his sword over Alden, but barely enough had Alden let the Alpha's blade cut all the way through in. When Alden looked and spotted the cut in his right arm. Giving the Alpha a frenzied look, he suddenly let himself slide down beneath the werewolf, creating a dangerous gash where his dagger had sliced deep into the Alpha's knee veins. Suddenly, the Alpha snarled and sprawled against the floor, as if he had been hit by lightning. Raising his sword in the other hand, Alden performed a deep piercing action, striking the other werewolf's torso in a distinct motion as he slowly rose from his transverse motion. Lying on the ground, the werewolf was exposed.

Blood was already seeping through Alden's armor from his injured right arm. He did not falter, though. He panted softly and stood motionless, as if he were going to repeat the move. In the meantime, following this thrilling adventure, the two werewolves were already lying there on the ground, in excruciating pain in the pool of their own blood.

A shadow materialized when the building's rear exit door flew open. My mind mumbled, 'It is going to be another werewolf. Before long, a pale white-faced werewolf emerged from the shadows; he was unquestionably an Alpha, nearly as tall as Alden and half as huge as his size. However, the werewolf's physique is not as robust as his; the Alpha transversed through the door from Alden's behind. He waved his blade fiercely in the air and charged Alden from behind without pausing for a minute. Unusual activity occurred: Alden remained in the same spot as the werewolf drove a few meters closer to him. He sent the blade crashing through Alden's armor from behind, showing no mercy and allowing it to puncture deep into his shoulder. That smite is diabolic and was intended to kill.

I saw my father collapse slowly on his knees. The werewolf reached down and plucked his hair.

"Where is the treasure map hidden?"

"Thorn, how could you betray me among all the brothers?" "How dare you?" Alden responds

As he spoke, blood was dripping from his mouth; his voice was deep and growling. He has already lost more than enough blood; as a result of those strikes, it is now gushing from his arm and shoulder.

"You have no idea how much destruction you are about to inflict upon your generation." Thorn does not seem to be aware that Alden informed him that he was speaking regarding the future.

"You can't stop me now, can you?" Xx The Alpha gave him a sneer.

The werewolf let out a loud howl as he staggered backwards; as Alden raised his arm and, in a hazy motion, swiped his dagger over the pale wolf's face with his left arm. The cut was so close that it barely missed splitting his left eye apart. Alden had long held his breath with his last remaining strength. This time, it is evident that his strength has entirely diminished-like droplets of rain in a parched desert.

The volume of blood already oozing from his body presented that his life was going to end tragically. From my distance, it was hard to figure out who these werewolves were.

My palm was throbbing with pain from the tension of the view, and I felt like my head was going to fall off.

The full moon has set and is about to rise spectacularly over the night sky, yet it is already dark. Our people hold the lantern festival annually on the full moon of the blue moon. It is a time to remember and offer prayers for the souls of all the people we have loved and lost touch with, particularly my mothers. In our clan, we have that special feast for which we all look forward to, but we were all busy preparing to celebrate when we noticed a looming catastrophe. Suddenly I felt a crackling sound like something breaking under my feet, and the little branch I was using to keep my balance snapped off as I turned to see what it was. I slipped and fell off the tree before I could grab for another branch.

"Kellan! Not at all!"

Kira's little voice came up from the ground's surface and narrowed down my ears.

This time, really, all I could sense was my pulse from underneath the surface of the ground. My glance was obscured by shadows.

"You must stay with me!" "Kellan!"
