On a dark and windy night, I found myself kissed by a handsome stranger-not just once, but twice! Who does he think I am, someone he can just kiss whenever he feels like it? And now he's saying he should take responsibility, get engaged, even marry me? Absolutely not! I left home to escape an arranged marriage, and now this man suddenly thinks he can swoop in and propose? No way... But why does this school seem filled with handsome guys? There are the cold ones, the gentle ones, and those with a devilish charm-and they all seem to have their eyes on me.

Chapter 1 An Unwanted Kiss

Chapter 1

An Unwanted Kiss

When you are walking down the street and suddenly kissed by a strange man, what would you do? Exactly. Slap him! And slap him hard!

"Smack!"

A loud slap echoed in the air.

Blondie Apple stared at the man in front of her, Cavan Noah. Under the night sky, he looked like a character stepping out of a comic-so strikingly beautiful, he seemed unreal. His amber eyes shone with a captivating light, and at the corner of his eye, there was an extraordinarily rare tear mole, bewitchingly charming. His face was like a masterpiece sculpted by God, exceptionally handsome, the kind of beauty rarely seen in this world.

Wow! A top-notch handsome man!

That was Blondie Apple's first reaction.

But just because you're handsome, does that mean you can kiss people randomly? Just because you're good-looking, can you act recklessly with no regard for others?

"Sorry, but I, Blondie Apple, have seen countless handsome men since I was young, so I'm pretty much immune to their charms," she thought to herself.

Blondie Apple raised an eyebrow and said, "Apologize to me before I lose my temper!"

"What?" Cavan Noah looked at her, surprised.

Apologize? After getting slapped?

He laughed. "Do you know who I am?"

"I don't care who you are! Apologize to me now!" Blondie Apple's voice left no room for negotiation.

"Kid, are you from out of town?" Cavan asked.

Blondie Apple was taken aback. "How do you know?"

"Because-in Texas City, no one dares to slap me!"

What the heck? You act like a hooligan and got slapped. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?

Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the distance. The people Cavan had been using Blondie as a decoy to escape from had caught up to them.

Cavan Noah's face darkened. Without a second thought, he turned and dragged Blondie Apple into a narrow alley.

Pain shot through her scalp as she was yanked along by her hair, struggling to keep up. He didn't stop until they were deep in the alley.

Turning to look at her, Cavan scowled, "Ugly Duckling, I'm not going to apologize to you. If you're smart, get lost."

Blondie Apple was furious. This was the first time anyone had called her an Ugly Duckling! Even though she had fled from the capital and disguised herself to look plain, she certainly wasn't ugly!

"You're the Ugly Duckling! Look at your shirt!" she retorted.

Cavan glanced down and saw a strand of her hair caught on his button.

Uh-oh! He hadn't noticed that.

But...

"Are you sure you're not just doing this to get my attention?" Cavan asked, his tone flippant.

What the heck? Is this guy a narcissist?

Suddenly, a voice came from not far away. "Some of you go that way; the rest, follow me."

The people after them were closing in.

A wicked smirk appeared on Cavan's face. He looked down at Blondie and said in a low voice, "If you're throwing yourself at me, don't blame me."

Before Blondie could react, Cavan shoved her against the wall, pinning her in place. His lips hovered just a centimeter from hers, and she could feel his warm breath.

Not again, she thought. Their previous conflict wasn't even resolved yet!

"What... what do you want?" she stammered.

"Force myself on you-do you believe me?" he whispered.

"Dare you?" she shot back.

Suddenly, she felt a chill on her shoulder as Cavan pulled down the fabric of her shirt, exposing her smooth skin.

Blondie was livid and tried to slap him again, but he pinned her hands against the wall. She struggled to break free and even tried to kick him, but he blocked her legs with his own.

Damn it! A hooligan! What a jerk!

The footsteps grew louder, almost upon them. Blondie tried to scream, but Cavan silenced her with a fierce kiss, covering her mouth with his.

The kiss was full of punishment, as if chastising her for attempting to scream.

Inside, Blondie Apple felt like a thousand raging horses were galloping through her mind.

Damn it! Twice in one night, she had been forcefully kissed by the same man!

I sat on the cold tile floor of our Upper East Side penthouse, staring at the two pink lines until my vision blurred. After ten years of loving Julian Sterling and three years of a hollow marriage, I finally had the one thing that could bridge the distance between us. I was pregnant. But Julian didn't come home with flowers for our anniversary. He tossed a thick manila envelope onto the marble coffee table with a heavy thud. Fiona, the woman he'd truly loved for years, was back in New York, and he told me our "business deal" was officially over. "Sign it," He said, his voice flat and devoid of emotion. He looked at me with the cold detachment of a man selling a piece of unwanted furniture. When I hesitated, he told me to add a zero to the alimony if the money wasn't enough. I realized in that moment that if he knew about the baby, he wouldn't love me; he would simply take my child and give it to Fiona to raise. I shoved the pregnancy test into my pocket, signed the papers with a shaking hand, and lied through my teeth. When my morning sickness hit, I slumped to the floor to hide the truth. "It's just cramps," I gasped, watching him recoil as if I were contagious. To make him stay away, I invented a man named Jack-a fake boyfriend who supposedly gave me the kindness Julian never could. Suddenly, the man who wanted me gone became a monster of possessiveness. He threatened to "bury" a man who didn't exist while leaving me humiliated at his family's dinner to rush to Fiona's side. I was so broken that I even ate a cake I was deathly allergic to, then had to refuse life-saving steroids at the hospital because they would harm the fetus. Julian thinks he's stalling the divorce for two months to protect the family's reputation for his father's Jubilee. He thinks he's keeping his "property" on a short leash until the press dies down. He has no idea I'm using those sixty days to build a fortress for my child. By the time he realizes the truth, I'll be gone, and the Sterling heir will be far beyond his reach.
