Forced Marriage To The Enemy Chapter 1 Prologue

A tired yawn left the child's lips as he stretched his limbs above his head, a cracking sound echoing when he did so. He slapped a palm over his mouth tiredly and blinked, his bushy brows came together in a confused gesture.

That was weird. The sun was up already, yet none of his parents had come to his room. His mother was usually the one who tickled him into waking up while his father would be in the kitchen, making a giant batch of his favourite meal; pancakes.

However, this morning was unusual. His windows were just like he'd left them last night, open and susceptible to the cold winter breeze. As if on cue, a gust of wind blew the flaps of the curtains billowing into the room and he shivered.

Something was wrong, indeed. He didn't know what but he felt it. The child climbed down from the bed, hastening towards the door. He pulled it open and snuck out, gently closing it behind him.

The moment his foot landed on first steps, a grotesque cry tore the air and he froze. Another similar scream echoed, this one more pained than the last.

His heart skipped a beat and his clammy fingers wrapped around the railings. The screams didn't stop there, it kept resounding like a symphony and he cringed.

That didn't stop him though, he continued climbing down until he reached the base of the stairs. And when he did, he wished he'd made the decision to remain in his room instead.

He caught his father kneeling, a large stood threateningly behind him, his blackish claws extended.

An outrage cry tore from his throat almost immediately, "Father!"

The stranger's head whipped towards him and only then did he notice the other three men crowding the hall. One of the men rushed forward seizing him by the arm, and forced him to kneel by his father.

"Father," The child whimpered weakly, however his father's focus was elsewhere and when he trailed the man's line of sight, he felt sick to his stomach.

His beautiful mother was sprawled on their table, the same table they'd taken their meals the night before with large smiles and loud chatter, an even more large man stood between her parted legs.

"Ah, a family reunion. How perfect!" The man honeyed tone taunted, "I assumed the little twat wasn't home but this is even more better, watch what I do to your mother."

The boy trembled as the cruel man peered at him with black eyes, and he wasn't exaggerating. His entire eyes were like ink, including the whites of his eyes. If the numerous scars around his body was judge enough of his cruelty, the eyes completely terrified the child.

The moment the cruel man dropped his pants, revealing his manhood. Terror gripped the boy, although he'd only seen ten moons he was quite aware of what was about to happen.

"No!" He cried out with all of his might, struggling against the iron-clad grip of the guard who held him down, "No, stay away from Mother. Stay away!"

His pleas fell on deaf ears as the man rammed into his mother with such force that the table quaked terribly. He couldn't bare to watch the scene and he cried out to his Mother. The cruel Alpha had a pleased smile on his lips. His Father was completely lump. While Mother, on the other hand, was quiet. Her face was pale, lacking any color and her once bright eyes were lifeless and filled with unshed tears.

It broke him to watch her like that, even more when it was evident that he was too powerless to do anything. His Father let out a sudden outburst, dropping his head as his fingers trembled.

Mother's gargled cry echoed in the room, her fingers bunching into a shaky fist. He couldn't bear it any longer, he slapped his palms over his ears in a bid to block out the sound.

However, he suddenly heard a thundering growl and then the distinct sound of flesh slicing open followed by a weak gurgle.

His wet lashes slowly parted, blinking the tears away, the child's blurry sight settled on his mother. Or what used to be his mother.

His father whimpered weakly, falling to the ground as he clutched his chest. His gaze returned to the gore in front of him and he couldn't find it in himself to look away.

His mother lifeless body laid bare on their dining table, her throat mercilessly sliced open with crimson blood spilling out. Her eyes still held a silent plea in them while her mouth was opened in what should have been a scream.

He felt disembodied, entire body feeling like lead. He tried not to blink, unable to believe that she was gone. Forever.

He couldn't fight back when he was suddenly pulled from his feet, dragged to the outer courts. He squinted against the harsh rays of the sun and when his gaze refocused, they settled on the crowd gathered in front of his home.

Only that they weren't just a crowd, they were his pack members. A minority of them, he knew that they were a lot missing, bound in silver chains around their necks and wrist. They looked beaten up, the women donning tear-streaked faces.

Immediately they set their eyes on his father and him, they howled in unison, bowing their heads in respect.

"Fools!" The cruel man barked, baring his canines, "You're about to die because of him and you still revere this weakling."

Their necks remained stubbornly bowed and the cruel man snarled, stomping towards Father to grab him by the arm, kicking his legs so he fell on his knees in front of him.

"Look at them," He whispered, roughly grabbing Father's face, "These are the ones who have stubbornly refused to renounce you."

Father glared at him, icy eyes digging into him in an open threat. The cruel man leaned closer, smirking evilly,

"They will be my slaves and regret their decision," His wicked gaze flickered to the boy, "If your child was girl, she would've been my whore but he's not. So he'll escort you and your wife to the afterlife."

The guard behind me pressed his claws into the child's neck in response and he gulped.

"If I'd know that you were this weak an Alpha, I would've attacked your pack sooner," The cruel man gested and the child caught his father's wrist tighten together, "When I take your head, I'll make sure to hang the skull along with the others."

He could feel it, the tense environment and he knew what was about to happen.

"Father," The child called weakly in his head and his father whipped his head around to look at him.

"Lucien," Father spoke to his mind, "I love you, always and forever. Be strong and-"

His head was severed from his neck in a flash, blood spraying everywhere and some droplets landed on my face. The child reacted without thinking, pushing the guard away as he pounced towards the murderer.

The cruel man swatted him like he was some fly, his large claws making contact with the child's face as a result. Red hot pain flared all over his face, something warm trickled down his face and he cried out.

He looked up and caught the eyes of everyone at him. He curled up into himself, trembling fingers catching the blood that trickled down his slashed face. He didn't need to look at a mirror to know what the monster had done.

The longer the child stayed there, the more he felt like an oddity. He pushed to his feet and dashed towards the fields, running as fast as his legs could carry him.

"Should I go after him?" The guard who held the child asked his master, his claws extending fully.

The master waved him off, watching the headless Alpha with glee in his eyes,

"He's just a twat, there's nothing he can do." His black eyes fell on the slaves in front of him and he grinned,

"I already got what I came here for."

I thought I was waking up in the arms of Arthur, the man I loved. But as the morning light hit the Hamptons estate, the man buttoning his cuffs by the window turned around with eyes like chips of ice. It was Augustus Riddle, Arthur’s cruel younger brother, and I had just spent the night whispering confessions of love into the wrong man's ear. The night I thought was a beautiful beginning turned into a devastating nightmare. Instead of comfort, Gus treated me like a stain on his expensive carpet, scribbling a check for "services rendered" before shoving me into a dark service corridor to hide my existence from his brother. "How much does it cost to buy your silence?" He sneered, before leaving me barefoot in a torrential downpour while he drove away in a luxury Cadillac. Four years later, I am a struggling actress in Los Angeles, working double shifts as a barista just to keep the lights on. My life was finally stable until my roommate dragged me to a high-end dinner to meet her new "influential" boyfriend. The man sitting at the table, looking more arrogant and lethal than ever, was Augustus. He spent the entire night humiliating me, calling me a pathetic amateur and a social climber in front of my only friends. When I fled into the rain and collapsed on the sidewalk, skinning my knee until I bled, he watched from his car. He saw me clutching a plastic baggie containing the taped-together pieces of that four-year-old check—the only proof of my shame. He looked at me like roadkill, rolled up his window, and drove off into the dark. I couldn't understand why he was doing this. Why did he hate me enough to crush me, yet remember that I couldn't handle the smell of cigarette smoke? Why did he leave me bleeding in the street, only to send expensive medical supplies and coffee to my door the very next morning? "I'm moving out." I told my roommates, realizing that Gus Riddle didn't just want to destroy me; he wanted to haunt me. I grabbed my suitcase and walked out with eighty dollars to my name, finally ready to disappear into the city before he could burn the rest of my life to the ground.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.
