Betrayed, rejected, and humiliated in front of her entire pack by her one true love, Jaxon Hale, Amara thought her life was over when he auctioned her off like she was nothing. But her fate took an unexpected turn when she met *him*. Dante Moretti, a ruthless Alpha mafia leader, purchased Amara not for love, but for revenge. Fueled by a deep grudge against her family, he intended to use her as a pawn in his vendetta. Yet, what he didn't anticipate was the undeniable pull between them. He didn't expect to desire her, to cherish her, or to claim her as his own. When love and vengeance collide, Dante is forced to confront his own demons and make an impossible choice. Will he hold on to his hatred, or will Amara's love be enough to redeem him?

Chapter 1 1

Amara's POV

The sound of my name echoing through the crowded pack hall felt like a death sentence. My knees buckled, and I gripped the edge of the wooden table for support. Whispers rippled through the crowd, their eyes sharp, full of judgment and mockery. My mate, my supposed protector, stood at the center of the room with a smirk stretched across his face.

"Amara Hale," Jaxon announced, his voice dripping with false confidence. "An omega no one wants. But tonight, gentlemen, she can be yours- for the right price."

A collective gasp rose from the crowd, followed by a wave of laughter. My heart plummeted, shattered into irreparable pieces. Jaxon, my mate, the one the Moon Goddess had chosen for me, was selling me like livestock.

"Stop this," I whispered, my voice trembling as I took a step forward. "Jaxon, please. You don't have to do this."

His piercing green eyes met mine, void of any affection or remorse. The man I had once trusted with my heart was a stranger now, his features cold and unyielding.

"This is for the best, Amara," he said flatly, not bothering to lower his voice. "You're weak. An embarrassment. I can't be tied to someone like you."

Shame burned hot in my chest, the humiliation almost too much to bear. The crowd, hungry for entertainment, erupted into cruel jeers. I clenched my fists at my sides, swallowing the lump rising in my throat.

The auction began, Jaxon's voice cutting through the noise like a blade. I wanted to run, to escape the hellish nightmare unfolding before me, but my feet felt rooted to the ground.

Then he walked in.

The room fell into an unnatural hush as a tall figure strode through the open doors, his presence commanding attention. He was dressed in a sleek black suit, every inch of him exuding power and danger. The sharp angles of his jawline, the intensity of his dark eyes, and the air of authority around him made the others shrink in his presence.

Dante Moretti.

Everyone knew who he was. The Alpha mafia leader, feared across territories for his ruthlessness. A man whose name was synonymous with power, wealth, and bloodshed.

He didn't glance at anyone else, his gaze fixed solely on me. My stomach twisted in apprehension under the weight of his scrutiny. There was no kindness in his eyes, only a cold calculation that sent a shiver down my spine.

"I'll take her," he said, his deep, commanding voice slicing through the silence.

The room erupted in murmurs. Dante didn't wait for a response. He pulled out a thick envelope from his coat pocket and tossed it onto the table where Jaxon stood.

"No one else needs to bid," Dante added, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Jaxon hesitated, his bravado faltering under Dante's unyielding glare. Greed eventually won out, and he snatched up the envelope without a second thought.

"She's yours," Jaxon said, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Good luck."

The finality of his words hit me like a punch to the gut. My mate had sold me to a man like Dante without a second thought.

Dante stepped closer, his imposing figure towering over me. He didn't speak, simply reached out and gripped my arm firmly, pulling me toward the exit. I tried to resist, but his strength was impossible to match.

"Let me go," I hissed, my voice shaking with anger and fear.

He glanced at me briefly, his expression unreadable. "Not a chance."

The cold night air hit my skin as we stepped outside. Dante's black SUV waited at the curb, the driver already holding the door open.

"Get in," he ordered.

I stood frozen, every nerve in my body screaming at me to run. But where would I go? My pack had already turned its back on me. Jaxon had made sure of that.

Dante's patience wore thin. Without waiting for my compliance, he scooped me up effortlessly and placed me inside the vehicle. The door slammed shut behind me, sealing my fate.

The car ride was suffocating. Dante sat beside me, his presence filling the space with an intensity I couldn't ignore. He didn't speak, his gaze fixed out the window as the city lights blurred past.

"Why did you buy me?" I finally asked, breaking the silence.

His head turned, those dark eyes locking onto mine. "Because I could."

His response made my blood boil. "I'm not some object for you to own."

A ghost of a smirk tugged at his lips, but it didn't reach his eyes. "You're whatever I say you are now, omega."

I hated the way the word rolled off his tongue, filled with disdain and finality.

Dante's POV

The girl was fire. Beneath her fragile exterior, there was a spark I hadn't expected. It was almost amusing, the way she tried to stand up to me despite knowing she didn't stand a chance.

Her defiance would make breaking her all the more satisfying.

Amara Hale. The name was etched into my memory long before tonight. She wasn't just some random omega-she was the key to settling an old score. Her father had taken everything from me, and now I would take something from him.

I watched her out of the corner of my eye as she stared out the window, her jaw clenched and her hands trembling in her lap. She was trying to be brave, but I could sense her fear.

Good. Fear would keep her in line.

My phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out, glancing at the message from Luciana.

**"You got her?"**

I typed a quick response: **"Yes. We'll talk later."**

Luciana didn't approve of my plan. She thought I was crossing a line, dragging an innocent girl into a feud that wasn't her fault. But she didn't understand what it was like to lose everything. Amara's family owed me, and she was the price they'd pay.

"Where are you taking me?" Amara's voice broke through my thoughts.

I slid my phone back into my pocket, leaning back in my seat. "Home."

Her brows furrowed. "Your home?"

"Yes."

Her lips pressed into a thin line, and she turned her gaze back to the window. She didn't ask any more questions, but I could see the wheels turning in her head.

Let her wonder. Let her stew in her uncertainty. It would make it easier to bend her to my will.

The car pulled up to the gates of my estate, and I watched as her eyes widened in awe and trepidation. The massive iron gates swung open, revealing the sprawling mansion beyond.

"Welcome to your new life," I said, stepping out of the car.

I could feel her hatred burning just beneath the surface... It was only the beginning.

For four years, I traced the bullet scar on Chace’s chest, believing it was proof he would bleed to keep me safe. On our anniversary, he told me to wear white because "tonight changes everything." I walked into the gala thinking I was getting a ring. Instead, I stood frozen in the center of the ballroom, drowning in silk, watching him slide his mother's sapphire onto another woman's finger. Karyn Warren. The daughter of a rival family. When I begged him with my eyes to claim me, to save me from the public humiliation, he didn't flinch. He just leaned toward his Underboss, his voice amplified by the silence. "Karyn is for power. Ember is for pleasure. Don't confuse the assets." My heart didn't just break; it incinerated. He expected me to stay as his mistress, threatening to dig up my dead mother’s grave if I refused to play the obedient pet. He thought I was trapped. He thought I had nowhere to go because of my father’s massive gambling debts. He was wrong. With shaking hands, I pulled out my phone and texted the one name I was never supposed to use. Keith Mosley. The Don. The monster under Chace's bed. *I am invoking the Blood Oath. My father’s debt. I am ready to pay it.* His reply came three seconds later, buzzing against my palm like a warning. *The price is marriage. You belong to me. Yes or No?* I looked up at Chace, who was laughing with his new fiancée, thinking he owned me. I looked down and typed three letters. *Yes.*

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

For seventeen years, I was the crown jewel of the Kensington empire, the perfect daughter groomed for a royal future. Then, a cream-colored envelope landed in my lap, bearing a gold crest and a truth that turned my world into ice. The DNA test result was a cold, hard zero percent-I wasn't a Kensington. Before the ink could even dry, my parents invited my replacement, a girl named Alleen, into the drawing room and treated me like a trespasser in my own home. My mother, who once hosted galas in my honor, wouldn't even look me in the eye as she stroked Alleen's arm, whispering that she was finally "safe." My father handed me a one-million-dollar check-a mere tip for a billionaire-and told me to leave immediately to avoid tanking the company's stock price. "You're a thief! You lived my life, you spent my money, and you don't get to keep the loot!" Alleen shrieked, trying to claw the designer jacket off my shoulders while my "parents" watched with clinical detachment. I was dumped on a gritty sidewalk in Queens with nothing but three trunks and the address of a struggling laborer I was now supposed to call "Dad." I traded a marble mansion for a crumbling walk-up where the air smelled of exhaust and my new bedroom was a literal storage closet. My biological family thought I was a broken princess, and the Kensingtons thought they had successfully erased me with a payoff and a non-disclosure agreement. They had no idea that while I was hauling trunks up four flights of stairs, my secret media empire was already preparing to move against them. As I sat on a thin mattress in the dark, I opened my encrypted laptop and sent a single command that would cost my former father ten million dollars by breakfast. They thought they were throwing me to the wolves, but they forgot one thing: I'm the one who leads the pack.
