Wolf Born : The lost princess. Elara has spent her whole life in the small, secluded village of Thistledown under the tender care of the healer Maren. She has no memories of her past further back than the forest edge and honestly believes she is nothing more than an ordinary girl-until the night a wounded Lycan warrior stumbles into her life. But above all, it is a revelation that shakes the very truth for the warrior Thorne: she is the lost daughter of the Wolf King and rightful heir to the Lycanthrope throne. Her father has fallen into the clutches of Lord Malgar, a power-hungry usurper, while their kingdom balances on the brink of war. Now, with the clans divided, only Elara can unite them to reclaim what was stolen. With the aid of Thorne, and the whispers of the Wild, Elara takes up a precarious journey through mystic forests, cursed land, and ancient ruins. But as she begins to unlock the dormant power within, she comes to realize that reclaiming her throne is not about vengeance-it's about claiming a destiny she was born to. But Malgar is only the first such enemy she'll have to face. Dark forces are rallying in the shadows, and from among them Elara must select those she will really be able to trust-starting with Thorne, whose loyalty is not quite as absolute as it might appear. Out of time, with war looming, Elara must rise from the ashes of her forgotten past. Will she become the ruler her people need, or will the kingdom be lost forever? A story of destiny, betrayal, and strength derived from wildness, The Wolf King's Daughter tells of power won and true strength derived from within.

Wolf Born:The Lost Princess Chapter 1 THE HEALER'S SECRET

WOLF BORN: THE LOST PRINCESS

The wind howled through the trees, its mournful sighs rattling the shutters of the small cottage where Elara worked by candlelight. The forest loomed outside, its dark edges whispering with unseen creatures. She had never feared the woods, though the villagers did. They told stories of beasts with eyes like burning coals, of howling figures that stalked the night.

Elara knew better. Since her childhood, she had strolled among the trees, and not once had she seen the monsters that they feared. Still, the forest felt alive, its presence a quiet hum in her bones.

Tonight, though, the night held something different-something waiting.

"Elara?" Maren's voice cut through her thoughts. The old woman healer ground herbs with a mortar at the small wooden table, her expression a map of worry, deeper than usual. "You are distracted again."

Elara huffed out a sigh and rubbed her hair back. "Tired. Just tired. This storm- "

A loud crash broke the night.

Elara and Maren shared a jolt. From outside. It had been. From the treeline. One beat later a low, animalistic growl came.

Elara spotted a lantern. "Someone's out there."

Maren's eyes went black. "Don't go, child."

But Elara was already running. She shoved open the door, icy wind slapping her in the face as the rain pounded against her skin. She ran toward the sound, feet light on wet earth. And then-

A man lay there, crumpled at the base of a tree, his body covered in blood.

Her breath caught. He was huge, impossibly broad, his chest rising and falling in shallow, ragged gasps. His dark hair clung to his face, matted with rain and blood. But it was his eyes that stopped her cold.

A deep, piercing gold.

Not human.

Lycans. The beasts the village dreaded.

Elara faltered only for a moment before she knelt beside him. His breathing was labored, his skin scorching hot. She reached out to touch him-

His hand snapped out, gripping her wrist.

Elara gasped, but before she could react, his lips parted. His voice, hoarse and broken, sent chills racing down her spine.

"Princess... you're alive."

HONEY MULLINS

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I've returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders-the man I was told was a crippled recluse-intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I'd cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent-the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower's security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy-Archibald's secret son-wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald's face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.
