For years, Celeste Raynor has lived as a rogue, a fugitive on the run from the past she can't remember. Waking up in the middle of the woods with no memory, only a crescent-shaped scar on her wrist, she has spent her life evading packs and surviving in the shadows. But when fate leads her into the heart of the powerful Shadowfang Pack, she is captured and brought before their fearsome Alpha, Killian Drake- a man whose piercing silver eyes awaken something buried deep within her soul. Killian has spent years mourning his mate, believing her dead. But the moment Celeste steps into his territory, his wolf howls in recognition. She is his- his lost Luna. Yet, she doesn't remember him, nor the bond that once tied them together. As secrets unravel and buried betrayals resurface, Celeste must choose between trusting the mate she doesn't remember or running once again. But the enemies who stole her past are closing in, and this time, running may not be an option.

The Alpha's Lost Mate Chapter 1 Captured by the Alpha

The scent of damp earth and pine filled Celeste Raynor's lungs as she ran through the dense forest, her heart pounding like a war drum. Twigs snapped beneath her bare feet, and the cold night air bit at her skin, but she didn't slow down. She couldn't. Something was chasing her. Someone.

The howls in the distance sent a chill down her spine, the unmistakable sound of wolves closing in. Her muscles burned from the endless sprint, but fear pushed her forward. She didn't know where she was running to-only that she had to keep moving. The memories she had clung to were nothing but scattered fragments, pieces of a life she couldn't fully remember. Waking up alone in the wilderness years ago, with nothing but a crescent-shaped scar on her wrist, had been the beginning of her nightmare.

A fallen branch caught her ankle, sending her tumbling forward. The impact knocked the air from her lungs, and pain shot through her limbs. Blood welled at her palms where they scraped against the rough ground. Her body begged her to stop, but stopping meant death.

Pushing up onto her hands and knees, she turned her head, straining to listen. Silence. No more howls. No rustling of leaves or snapping of twigs. The eerie stillness unsettled her more than the chase. Had they given up?

A low, menacing growl rumbled from the shadows. Celeste's stomach twisted. Slowly, she lifted her gaze. Silver eyes gleamed in the darkness, locked onto her like a predator that had just cornered its prey. The massive wolf stepped forward, its black fur blending into the night. More figures emerged behind it-shifters, their forms towering and formidable, muscles coiled with lethal strength.

A shiver ran down her spine. She had been caught. One of the wolves shifted mid-step, bones cracking and reforming, until a tall man with dark hair and piercing silver eyes stood in front of her. Power radiated from him, an Alpha's presence pressing against her like an invisible force.

"You're on Shadowfang territory," his deep voice rumbled, sharp and commanding. "Who are you?"

Celeste scrambled to her feet, fists clenched at her sides. "I don't want trouble. I was just passing through."

His eyes narrowed, scanning her from head to toe. Recognition flickered across his face, but it disappeared just as quickly. "You don't smell like a rogue."

A muscle in her jaw tightened. "That's because I'm not one."

"Then what are you?" His tone held the weight of authority, and it made something inside her stir-a strange pull, like a thread stretching toward him, a connection she didn't understand.

She shook her head, stepping back. "Let me go."

His gaze darkened. "Not until I get some answers."

The other wolves had formed a semi-circle around them, blocking any chance of escape. The air was thick with tension, their eyes watching her with curiosity and suspicion. She had been through enough packs to know that rogues weren't welcomed easily. Most were either driven out or killed.

Celeste steadied her breathing, forcing herself to remain calm. "I don't remember who I am," she admitted, voice laced with frustration. "I woke up one day with nothing-no past, no pack, just this scar." She lifted her wrist to show him the crescent mark.

The Alpha's expression shifted, his gaze locking onto the scar as if it held some deep significance.

One of the men behind him spoke. "Alpha Killian, she-"

"Silence," Killian ordered, his voice leaving no room for argument.

Celeste swallowed hard. His name stirred something deep within her, a whisper of familiarity that sent a dull ache through her head.

Killian took a slow step toward her, his silver eyes burning with something she couldn't quite decipher. "You don't remember anything? Not even me?"

Her throat dried. "Should I?"

His jaw tightened, a storm brewing behind his gaze. Without another word, he moved faster than she could react, gripping her wrist and pulling her closer. The moment their skin met, a shockwave of heat surged through her, spreading like wildfire through her veins.

Her breath hitched. This feeling-it was powerful, overwhelming.

His grip didn't loosen. "You're coming with me."

Panic flared in her chest. "No! I'm not going anywhere with you."

"You don't have a choice." His voice held a finality that sent dread coiling in her stomach.

Two wolves flanked her, ensuring she wouldn't escape. The Alpha's presence dominated the space between them, his closeness making her pulse race for reasons she couldn't comprehend.

She struggled, but it was futile. Killian was stronger, faster, and the bond between them-whatever it was-left her disoriented.

"Let me go," she growled, thrashing against his grip.

"You belong here," he said, voice quieter this time, but firm.

Celeste wanted to scream that he was wrong, that she didn't belong anywhere. But something about the way he looked at her, the way his touch sent electricity dancing over her skin, made her wonder if maybe, just maybe, she had once belonged to him. The forest faded behind them as she was led into the heart of Shadowfang territory.

I lay paralyzed on stiff white sheets, a prisoner in my own skin, listening to the rain lash against the window like nails on a coffin. My father, Elmore Franco, didn't even look at my face as he checked his clipboard. He just listened to the steady, monotonous beep of the heart monitor-the only thing proving I was still alive. Without a hint of remorse, he pulled a pen from his pocket and signed the Do Not Resuscitate order. My stepmother, Ophelia, stepped out from behind him, wearing my favorite pearl necklace and smelling of cloying perfume. She leaned close to my ear to whisper the truth that turned my blood to ice. "It was the tea, darling. Just like your mother. A slow, tasteless poison." She chuckled as she revealed that my fiancé, Bryce, had a two-year-old son with my sister, Daniela. My inheritance had been funding their secret life for years, and now that the money was secure, I was an inconvenience they were finally scrubbing away. As my father yanked the power cord from the wall, the beeping died, and the darkness swallowed me whole. I was being murdered by my own flesh and blood, used as a bank account until I was no longer needed. I died in that sterile room, drowning in the realization that every person I ever loved was a monster who had been waiting for me to take my last breath. Then, I gasped. I woke up in a luxury hotel suite surrounded by silk sheets, five years in the past-the very morning of my wedding. Next to me lay Basile Delgado, the "Wolf of Wall Street" and my family's most dangerous enemy. In my first life, I ran from this room in a panic and lost everything. This time, I looked at the man who would eventually destroy my father's empire and decided to join him. "I'm not leaving, Basile. Marry me. Right now. Today."

I was the titan of Wall Street until an indictment and an ankle monitor turned my penthouse into a gilded cage. To save face, I was forced into a marriage with Elza, a "mute" girl from the Schmidt family whom I treated as nothing more than a silent piece of furniture while my empire crumbled. The night I was poisoned at a high-society gala, a mysterious server in an oversized uniform saved my life with terrifying, clinical precision. They disappeared into the night, leaving me with a silver cufflink and a burning obsession to find the shadow who held my life in their hands. Back home, I took my frustration out on Elza, telling her she was "exhausting to look at" and "smelled like sickness" after her charity visits. Her own family treated her like a stray dog, trying to humiliate her at the next gala by dressing her in what they claimed was a cheap knockoff while whispering to the press that she was nothing but a high-end escort. "Stay out of my way," I would growl at her, never noticing the steel in her eyes. I sat at my table, watching my rivals' stocks plummet and wondering who "The Zero"—the legendary financial ghost—really was. I never suspected that the woman I ignored was the same one solving the equations that were currently burning Manhattan to the ground. The injustice peaked when Elza stood before the city's elite, not as a victim, but as a queen. She dropped over a hundred million dollars to buy back her family’s legacy, revealing a secret fortune that made my own empire look like pocket change. As I grabbed her wrist and saw the small red mole hidden beneath her watch, the truth hit me like a physical blow. The silent wife I had despised was the savior I had been hunting, and she was finally done playing the victim. "We have a lot to talk about, wife," I whispered, realizing I had been sleeping next to the most dangerous woman in the world.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.
