Meeting him Chapter 1 No.1

"Noah, we need to talk, "Mr Flynn said firmly as he walked into the luxurious living room where Noah was sitting.

Noah raised an eyebrow, not looking up from his phone.

"What's up, Dad?" He asks nonchalantly.

Mr Flynn cleared his throat; his eyes were fixed on Noah.

"I've decided to remarry, "he announced, and Noah's eyes remained fixed on his phone.

"Okay, "he replied in an indifferent tone.

Mr Flynn's expression turned stern; his eyes narrowed slightly.

"Racheal is a wonderful woman; you'd like her," he said.

Noah shrugged, still not looking up. "Great, he mumbled in sarcasm.

"Noah, I expect you to be respectful and welcoming to Rachael and her daughter, okay? 'Cause they'd move in next week, "Mr Flynn said.

Noah finally looked up, in amusement. "Don't worry, Dad, I'll be on my best behaviour. Moreover, you should tell her daughter not to trespass, "he warned.

"I'd tell her, Mr Flynn replied with a smile.

Noah snorted, rolling his eyes, returning it back to his phone.

"Yeah, I'd be the perfect son you want, he muttered.

Mr Flynn narrowed his face, but he chose not to pursue the matter.

He knew his son too well not to get under his skin, not today at least.

With a curt nod, Mr Flynn turned and walked out of the room, leaving Noah.

"Ava, sweetie, we need to talk, Racheal said softly as she sat down close to Ava.

Ava looked up from her book with a curious look on her face. What's it, Mom?" She asks.

Racheal took a deep breath, her hand shaking on her lap.

"I've got some news to share with you. You know how I've been seeing James for a while now?"

Ava nodded, her brow furrowed.

"Yes, you both are still dating, "Ava said, and Racheal smiled nervously.

"Well, we've decided to take the next step; we're getting married, and... and we are going to live together, "she said.

Ava's eyes widened in surprise, her book slipping from her hand.

"What? Mom, you can't be serious."

"I know this is sudden, but I love him, and he loves me, and we want to live a new life together, "Racheal told her.

"But he has a son; what about my school? Ava asks.

"Don't worry; everything will be settled, "Racheal replied with a smile.

"I'm not in support of this. Ava shook her head in disapproval.

"Ava I understand you, but this is my decision, and we have to make it work, and I expect you to support me," Racheal said.

Ava's face fell; her eyes became teary.

"Fine, but I'm not going to pretend to be happy about it, "she told her mom.

"I know this is a lot to take in, but I promise you, James is a good man; he'd take care of us, Racheal said, spreading her arms.

Ava looked at her mom, and she hesitated before collapsing into her arms.

Racheal held her close, stroking her hair. "It's okay; I'm here for you, "she mumbled, and Ava nodded her head in response.

Her mother's mind is made up and couldn't be changed.

"I know it's hard, but I want you to be free with James and his son," Racheal said.

"I'd try, Mom, Ava mumbled.

"That's all I can ask for; let's do this together."

As they hug, Ava felt a sense of comfort knowing her mom was trying to make the best decisions.

But she couldn't shake off the feelings of unease knowing her life was about to change in a way she couldn't control.

---------------

Noah entered into the school, and all eyes turned towards his direction.

Girls couldn't stop drooling at him.

He had a smile on his face. He looked handsome in his baggy top and baggy pants.

His smile faded away when he saw Ethan.

"Look who we've got here! Ethan mocked, and Noah glared at him.

When you are looking for enemies, we've Noah and Ethan. They both dislike themselves without any reason.

"I don't want to waste my energy on you, so buzz off, "Noah muttered gently.

"And what if I don't? Ethan asks daringly.

Noah gave him a short glance before walking away.

"Who does he think he's?" "Ethan scoffed inwardly, taking another direction.

---------------------

Noah puffed out smoke from his mouth aggressively. He does this anytime he is angry.

Sophia hugged him from behind, making him drop the pipe and step on it.

"Why are you here?" he asks, disengaging.

"Didn't you miss me? Sophia pouted, and Noah scoffed inwardly, grabbing her and kissing her roughly.

She reciprocated immediately while trying to move at the same pace with him.

He pressed her butt, and she moaned into his mouth, giving him full access to roll his tongue into hers.

He broke the kiss, staring at her without any expression.

"Should we do a quickie? She asked, trying to pull his pants, and he held her hand, stopping her.

"I'd text you when to come," he muttered.

"I'm wet already, Sophia whined.

"Then finger yourself," Noah snapped at her.

"That's not what I need; I need you, she replied hotly.

Noah's phone dinged, and he rolled his eyes upon seeing it was a message from his dad.

"SON, THEY ARE COMING TODAY."

"What's that? Sophia is asking, trying to peep.

"Get out. "Noah snapped at her.

"Fine, I'd leave, but make sure you text me when you need me, "she said, giving him a peck on his cheek before heading out.

Noah smirked, thinking about his stepmother.

-----------------------

Ava got down from the car with her mom, and she mouthed an "o" while staring at the building in front of her.

Racheal nudged her, bringing her back to earth.

"Sweetie, please be on your best behaviour, "she muttered into her ear, and Ava nodded her head, tightening her hand on her bag.

"Welcome home, darling. Mr Flynn said coming to meet them. He planted a kiss on Racheal's cheek before looking at Ava, who was busy feasting her eyes on the building.

"Hi," Mr Flynn greeted.

"Hello, "Ava replied shyly.

"C'mon, don't be shy around me; feel free with me, "Mr Flynn said, and Ava nodded her head.

Mr Flynn led them into the living room.

"Noah, they are here, Mr Flynn beamed with a smile.

Noah stood up from where he was sitting, and he tried to walk away.

"Noah", Mr Flynn warned. Noah rolled his eyes looking at Ava and her mom.

Ava nearly lost her breath when her eyes met with his.

She felt goosebumps immediately. "Ava, what's wrong?" She thought inwardly.

Her eyes went to his lips, and her throat went dry.

"You are welcome," Noah mumbled.

"I'm sorry about that. Just... I"

"It's fine, James, "Racheal said with a smile.

"I hope I'm welcome?" She asked, and Noah nodded his head.

"Who's she? He asked, looking at Ava, who was lost in her own world of admiration.

"Ava", Racheal nudged her lightly, causing her to zone back to earth.

What? "You were saying?" Shr stuttered feelings embarrassed.

"Your name?" Noah asked gently.

"I'm Ava. She replied, burying her face to the floor as she felt his eyes burning directly into her soul.

A smirk appeared on Noah's face.

"Noah, take her to her room, "Mr Flynn said, and Ava's heart raced rapidly.

------------------

Ethan entered, and he sighed sadly before stepping further.

"You called me?" He said uninterestedly.

"Why didn't you attend lecture today?" Mr Thompson asks.

"I was busy," Ethan muttered beneath his dad's hearing.

"Busy doing what?" Mr Thompson narrowed his eyes.

Ethan kept quiet, and that angered his dad. He gave him a slap on his cheek.

"Honey", Mrs Thompson rushed to meet them.

Ethan rubbed his cheeks, clenching the fist of his left hand.

"Take it easy on him," Mrs Thompson pleaded with misty eyes.

"Tell your son to comply with me and stop the nonsense he's doing," Mr Thompson spat before storming out.

Mrs Thompson tried touching Ethan, and he glared at her, stopping her.

"Am I really his son? Because he doesn't treat me like his son ".

"Of course, you are his son," Mrs Thompson answered.

"Why can't I make a decision on my own? I told him I am not interested in doing business, but...."

"I'd try and talk to him," Mrs Thompson assured him.

"Really? That's what you keep on telling me, and I'm sick and tired of it, " Ethan yelled, making the poor woman shiver.

Noah opened the door, and they both entered.

"You can take your leave. Ava stuttered, avoiding his eyes.

"Are you scared of me? Noah asks, taking a step closer.

"I...I.... "she paused, biting her lips.

"You what?" he asked.

Ava took a step back, and her back hit the wall. Noah took a step closer again, closing the gap between them.

"Answer me, "he said softly, making Ava bite her lips, feeling goosebumps.

Noah leaned closer, and Ava's heart beat rapidly.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
