After Everything: Become A Worthless Luna Chapter 1 1. Is This The End of Her Life

The sound of people panicking and running for their lives resounded. As the flames rose and spread, burning residential areas, the smoke became very thick.

This is why Amerta hates wars over territory.

Amerta coughed while walking in a hurry away from the residential area. His chest felt very tight. On the right and left, Red Goddess pack soldiers were passing by carrying the bodies of the residents who had not been crushed by the ruins of the buildings.

Meanwhile, Amerta's energy has run out. He heard a faint roar of anger. Amerta knows that in the border area of settlements and kingdoms, the soldiers of the Red Goddess pack are driving away the enemy's pack soldiers.

Amerta's move did not last long. Her body fell down just like that because both of her legs which had been crushed by the ruins of the building weakened. Amerta groaned while examining the wound on her leg.

The skin blistered and gaped, exposing the flesh.

Amerta groaned in annoyance. People were still running around her, but she couldn't walk anymore. How could she save the remaining citizens inside the residential buildings?

"Amerta!"

Amerta's gaze moved to the source of the sound. A smile curved on his face after seeing the arrival of Alpha Alvrada-his mate.

"Alpha Alvrada..." Amerta's voice was low. Her body was too limp to stand up to her lover.

Alpha Alvrada ran to catch up with Amerta. His face was shabby and full of several cuts, but his eyes looked straight at Amerta as if his worry was very great.

"Hold it right there! I'll come to you!" Alpha Alvrada shouted when Amerta tried to stand up. He knew Amerta wanted to come to him.

Amerta did not want to pay attention. Even though her whole body was in extreme pain after confronting the enemy troops in the border region, she forced himself to stand up.

Tonight Amerta separated from the Alpha Robert and Luna Queen Rose-her parents. Amerta just wants to be near someone she loves to ease all the pain. Amerta wanted to hug Alpha Alvrada's muscular body to calm her worries over the state of the Red Goddes pack which had been completely destroyed.

But in the middle of Alpha Alvrada running towards Amerta, a wolf suddenly jumped from the side. It hit Alpha Alvrada's body so that the Alpha's body fell backwards.

"ALPHA!" With the remaining strength, Amerta shouted loudly calling Alpha Alvrada.

On top of Alpha Alvrada's body, the charging wolf transformed into the figure of a warrior man. Alpha Alvrada dodged as hard as he could when the man who was piling up his body tried to give him multiple punches.

"You're not part of the Red Goddess pack! Why..." A heavy fist hit Alpha Alvrada in the jaw. "...you protect..."

Amerta looked panicked at Alpha Alvrada who was hit by a barrage of punches. She was so annoyed that she couldn't do anything, Amerta forced her legs to stand up even though in the end she still swayed when she stepped.

"Alpha Robert's pack must be destroyed! He doesn't deserve to be Alpha!"

Alpha Alvrada groaned loudly as she pushed the man's body aside. Then Alpha Alvrada immediately picked up the sword that had been thrown.

"Alpha!" Amerta called. Her eyes caught a glimpse of the man who was groaning Alpha Alvrada, and only then realized that the man was Beta Gobert Galhart-his father's younger brother. "Uncle, stop! Get away from him!" she warned Beta Gobert.

Alpha Alvrada turned to Amerta, then widened in panic because she saw Amerta walking in a hurry.

"Amerta, I told you not to move!" Alpha Alvrada gave the order.

"I can't let him fight you!" Amerta firmly denied Alpha Alvrada. "You traitor! You compromised the enemy pack!"

On the other hand, Beta Gobert grinned at Amerta's words. As his body began to stand up, he said with a laugh, "Traitor? Me? You should blame your father because he treated me unfairly!"

Amerta growled. Haven't had time to speak, his steps fell again. The burning sensation was so strong that Amerta was unable to hold back the pain.

Beta Gobert laughed even wider. "You should realize, Amerta, that Red Goddess pack has been destroyed! He doesn't deserve to be an Alpha!"

Alpha Alvrada immediately brandished his sword and rushed at Beta Gobert. Uncle Gobert pulled out his sword as well, clinking as it clashed with Alpha Alvrada's blade.

"A traitor like you should die," said Alpha Alvrada in an emphatic tone.

Beta Gobert did not falter at the threat. "Why are you giving me death threats? You will die!"

Witnessing the fight between Beta Gobert and Alpha Alvrada, Amerta just wanted to get up. Unfortunately, unexpectedly, suddenly her hands were pulled back so that she almost swayed.

Suddenly Amerta screamed in surprise and made Alpha Alvrada's attention turn away.

"Amerta! Gosh, look who I got?!"

Amerta looked up and saw the figure of another man, very familiar, which instantly made her heart warm. Argos Suveros, an Alpha of Blue Qwardo pack-Alpha Robert's pack enemies.

A satisfied grin spread across Argos' face. His gaze to Amerta showed as if he had just caught a fresh meat.

"How are you, Robert's favorite daughter? It's a pleasure we'd meet tonight."

Amerta gritted her teeth. She was so angry, her body rebelled so that Argos's grip was released from the collar of her neck. But Argos' strength was far greater, even Argos' body towered higher than Amerta's.

"HEY, DON'T TOUCH IT!" Alpha Alvrada shouted a warning to Argos.

Argos only looked down on Alpha Alvrada, then Beta Gobert immediately ran up to the Alpha. Beta Gobert's sword raised to get rid of the Alpha's sword and threw it away.

In just seconds Beta Gobert pointed the point of the sword at Alpha Alvrada's neck.

"Tonight, all members of the Red Goddess pack must be finished without a trace!" said Beta Gobert.

Before Alpha Alvrada could strike back, suddenly a group of soldiers came. Ambushed the Alpha's two arms from behind and limited his movements.

Beta Gobert arched a grin. "Do you see this, Amerta? The lover you love will die..."

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.
