In my previous life, I was married to Liam Hoods for good three years, yet all I could get in return were a great loathing from him, a betrayal of my love, and ingratitude towards all I had done for him. To end it all, he further connived with Sage Thatcher to ultimately end my life in a hospital. However, I was reborn by the will of the universe to right my wrongs and seek vengeance. Yet it appears that vengeance doesn't happen on a platter, but then, I would go to any lengths to render their lives completely worthless!

Chapter 1 1

Brookside Medical Center.

Aurora's POV.

Twelve months into my marriage with Liam, strange occurrences began to take place. Nonetheless, something remarkable occurred that day as I was pulled into one of the lesser-known hospitals in the area.

"Why do you keep pressuring me to sign this? What's the reason behind all your efforts for Sage?" I turned to the man next to me. The man I valued, adored, and respected all these years- Liam, my spouse.

Nonetheless, I experienced a strong hit on my face when I asked that question. I grasped my puffed face, astonishment and disbelief flooding me.

Liam hit me! And he didn't appear to feel any regret.

"You fool!" Could you please sign this document now? Your sister is on the stretcher, yet you're not determined to assist her? What if she passes away?" Liam shouted in fury.

He carried the fierce intensity of a wounded creature, his eyes burning with a scheme to attack- the type that only stirred for issues concerning Sage.

I always recognized that he had strong feelings for her and that I was merely a substitute. However, I never imagined he would contemplate taking my life for her.

"Are you unaware that she is requesting my liver?" Not only that, but over fifty percent of the liver lobe?" I replied with a tranquil demeanor.

If I weren't so far along in my pregnancy, maybe donating my liver wouldn't be a huge issue, regardless of Sage's plans.

"And therefore?" Liam sizzled. "Your entire life doesn't measure up to even half of her accomplishments. Sage is the most accomplished woman, collaborating with various clothing brands both inside and outside the Imperial City. Her beauty-an attribute you evidently do not possess, is unmatched by anyone else. He evaluated.

"Since you offer no value, why should donating your liver lobe be a nuisance?"

Irrepressible tears flowed down my frail cheeks. Liam's harsh remarks hit me hard, realizing the sacrifices I had made for him.

Liam Hoods, formerly a miserable man ridiculed by many, whose breath smelled of destitution, had ascended to one of the richest entrepreneurs in the city- entirely due to my assistance.

Who would have thought that a renowned past fashion icon could destroy her life for a man unworthy of her affection? It was deserving of laughter. I became exceedingly self-sacrificing, lowered myself too much to fulfill his wishes.

Moreover, I disregarded the continuous warnings from others, threats from my family, and rejections due to him. When we finally wed, he turned into my nightmare, and it became routine for him to have my stepsister as his mistress.

And if I wished for Sage to survive, I had to donate a part of my liver!

"What are you still thinking? Sign it! Sage's life is in danger here! If anything were to happen to her-" Liam's menacing threats jolted me back from my nostalgia. I averted my gaze, loathing him with all of my being. He was a monster!

"No, I am not going to sign." I held my position.

His tough, calloused hands seized my wrist, pressing the pen into my fingers. I was helpless in the face of his strength. Thus, in just a matter of seconds, my name was printed on the paper- 'Aurora Thatcher.'

Liam breathed out deeply in relief and handed the document to the man beside him. "Hurry! Have a liver surgeon start immediately!"

I was quickly taken into the operating room.

After the surgery, I started to feel lightheaded, and my health deteriorated, resulting in complicated problems.

I felt the urge to scream, yet my voice emerged only as a faint whisper. I experienced a sense of numbness, both emotionally and physically. The room was now vacant and the door to the surgical suite securely closed.

At that moment, the door swung wide, exposing Sage adorned in a stunning showcase of riches - while Liam, my spouse, stood beside her, his eyes shining with sinister delight.

Sage, my stepsister, who ought to have been lying unconscious and close to death on a stretcher, now stood upright, glaring at me in ridicule.

Her eyes glimmered with mischief as she neared the bed, cackling wildly and rendering me completely voiceless!

The realisation that I had been misled, even regarding my health, affected me profoundly. I touched my bulging belly but sensed no sensation. It was now void.

"Don't fret, Aurora. The baby is no longer present, along with your liver! You have no clue how much time I spent planning for this to occur. Ha ha!" She leaned her head and erupted in lively laughter.

I couldn't contain it any longer, yet lacked the strength to get up. My body didn't have the strength to move, so I simply let the tears stream down my cheeks.

"You guessed correctly-Liam and I have been together, and we are going to the marriage registry in three days." She displayed the middle finger of her left hand in my direction, intentionally highlighting a shiny silver ring that adorned it.

A brief moment went by before she lifted her gaze again and replied with a soft nod, "The sedative is clearly working on you."

The next sound I registered was the loud bang of the door, and then my vision faded.

When I finally regained consciousness, I was greeted by a piercing, sharp voice sliced through the fog, yelling my name aggressively.

"Aurora!"

The entire area fell into silence upon hearing that deep, steady, and authoritative male voice. My heart constricted with dread, questioning whether I was about to encounter Liam once more. Although the voice did not resemble his.

As the man tightened his hold on my neck, almost suffocating me, my eyes fluttered open to the bright light that illuminated the whole room. And above was a man who gazed down at me with a frigid and frosty demeanor.

This man's dashing look - one of the finest in the whole Imperial city - stirred a strong feeling within me. How did I end up in his embrace? Did I come back to life?

"Williams Alfonso." I murmured in disbelief.

Hearing his name brought an impish grin to his lips, while his fingers pressed more firmly into my skin, stealing the feeling of security I had anticipated.

"Were you attempting to end your life?"

Williams's deep and captivating voice, which had enchanted numerous women inside and outside the Imperial City, only intensified the fear that coursed through me.

I sat on the cold tile floor of our Upper East Side penthouse, staring at the two pink lines until my vision blurred. After ten years of loving Julian Sterling and three years of a hollow marriage, I finally had the one thing that could bridge the distance between us. I was pregnant. But Julian didn't come home with flowers for our anniversary. He tossed a thick manila envelope onto the marble coffee table with a heavy thud. Fiona, the woman he'd truly loved for years, was back in New York, and he told me our "business deal" was officially over. "Sign it," He said, his voice flat and devoid of emotion. He looked at me with the cold detachment of a man selling a piece of unwanted furniture. When I hesitated, he told me to add a zero to the alimony if the money wasn't enough. I realized in that moment that if he knew about the baby, he wouldn't love me; he would simply take my child and give it to Fiona to raise. I shoved the pregnancy test into my pocket, signed the papers with a shaking hand, and lied through my teeth. When my morning sickness hit, I slumped to the floor to hide the truth. "It's just cramps," I gasped, watching him recoil as if I were contagious. To make him stay away, I invented a man named Jack-a fake boyfriend who supposedly gave me the kindness Julian never could. Suddenly, the man who wanted me gone became a monster of possessiveness. He threatened to "bury" a man who didn't exist while leaving me humiliated at his family's dinner to rush to Fiona's side. I was so broken that I even ate a cake I was deathly allergic to, then had to refuse life-saving steroids at the hospital because they would harm the fetus. Julian thinks he's stalling the divorce for two months to protect the family's reputation for his father's Jubilee. He thinks he's keeping his "property" on a short leash until the press dies down. He has no idea I'm using those sixty days to build a fortress for my child. By the time he realizes the truth, I'll be gone, and the Sterling heir will be far beyond his reach.

I Slapped My Fiancé-Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
