Riko is the last and most lethal product of the Alpha Protocol-a program she never picked, created in secret and sealed with betrayal-in a broken world ruled by hybrid werewolves born from genetic warfare. Haunted by fractured memories and sought by her own kind, riko reveals the terrible truth: the lady who made her is not just her maker; she is the one who ruined all she cherished. Riko is torn between revenge and survival and must choose whether to embrace the beast inside or change the destiny inscribed in her blood. But in a world where loyalty is bought and love is weaponized, trusting anyone could be her last mistake.

The Last Howl Of New Kyoto Chapter 1 DRIFT ABOVE THE WASTELAND

New Kyoto floated like a fantasy above a dying planet.

Lifted above most of its inhabitants, magnetic arrays older than most of them hold a tangle of arc-light towers and sweeping terraces aloft in the sulfur-laced stratosphere. Below, the once-blue Earth is sprawled in ruin, fractured, overrun by nature too strange to name. Riko Ayane stared down from the Skyplate sector balcony of her lab with the chilly indifference of a person taught to view a world in data points rather than dust.

She said, seeing the brown clouds whirling like bruises, blackened gusts swaying upward, turning the skies to ash. Still, from up here it felt like a long-ago memory-nature's fury at what mankind had done. She could sense the storm even if it was far away. Her bioglass flashed silent warnings, showing the system. Still, it was just another day.

She faced away from the view, the shadows thrown by the jagged horizon stretching over the cold white walls of her laboratory.

Her communication tab chimed. Her concentration was interrupted by the soft hum of the device, and she looked down at the arriving message.

SUBJECT DELIVERY: Cryo Batch #48B Cleared for gene probe testing.

She frowned. The name rang a bell. Though this one was unusual, cryo batch samples usually come out rather routinely. The genetic material was ancient, retrieved from the ruins of the pre-Collapse era, the old world.

She slid her gloves on and headed to the main table where a tiny, frost-coated case lay waiting, held by two floating drones. Riko's caught her breath in her throat. She knew that code. It was a rare specimen-a biological relic intended for the most profound research.

She saw a glass vial containing thick amber liquid inside as the case opened, and a cold wave of air followed. Suspended like a ghost in mid-flight, a strand of fragmented yet clearly intact DNA was within the fluid.

Riko zoomed in and changed her bioglass.

"Too intact," she whispered, hardly audible. "Where did they haul you up?"

The sample arrived with no origin information-only a series of numbers indicating coordinates in the Mongolian Wastes, a desolate area unaltered since the geothermal rupture of 2118.

Running a battery of diagnostic scans, Riko's fingertips raced over the terminal. The findings flashed on screen-first unstable, then stable. Her inhalation gasped in disbelief.

This ... this was not just a usual ancient gene. It was a mirror match to something she believed had disappeared long ago.

Her heart rate rose as she double-checked the DNA strand. A dormant, unlisted line buried in her genetic data-hidden, unnoticed-is Gene WZ-219. She then came to understand what it meant.

She was not considering a historical artefact. She was observing her own reflection in an old mirror.

"How...?" she murmured, her voice shaky.

As she gripped the vial, her fingers shook. Her body's reaction-and the data-did not lie. This was the gene present in her own cells.

No. This couldn't be real. But Riko came to one awful reality as the truth sank upon her. She had only found the gene guiding a lineage of superior humans long ago erased from history. The Lupomorphs.

For seven years, I drank the bitter tonic my fiancé, Alpha Adrian, gave me, believing it would cure my "wolfless" defect. I was wrong. It was poison. He wasn't trying to heal me; he was keeping me weak so he could replace me with my foster sister, Ariel. When the fire consumed the Alpha's Wing, I was trapped under a burning beam, my legs crushed. Adrian kicked down the door. I reached out to him, screaming for help. But he didn't look at me. He looked at Ariel, who was lying on the floor in a silk nightgown. He scooped her up, cradling her like she was the only thing that mattered. I begged him not to leave me. Instead of helping, he used his Alpha Command on me, his voice booming with supernatural weight. "Stay put! I'll be back for you!" It was a lie. He used his power to freeze me in the inferno and left me to burn alive. I survived, only to watch him publicly reject me for her the next day, with my own father's blessing. They called me a "genetic dead end." They thought I would crawl away and die in shame. I didn't. I limped up the mountain to the Neutral Lands to find the one man everyone fears-the exiled Alpha, Garth Morgan. "I have the Gamma Bloodline Scroll," I told the massive figure emerging from the shadows. "I don't want your gratitude," Garth growled, his eyes like storm clouds. "I'm not here for gratitude," I replied, staring him down. "I'm here to make a deal with the devil."

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."
