Olivia Grace was willing to sacrifice everything for the man she loved-Hunter Jackson. But every sacrifice was repaid with humiliation. When her husband threw a lavish birthday party at a nightclub for his ex-girlfriend, treating it like the grandest gift, and allowed Olivia to be publicly humiliated, her heart shattered into pieces.

Chapter 1 Broken hearted

Olivia Grace never imagined that tonight would become the most devastating night of her life.

She stood frozen behind the glass doors of the lavish nightclub, her body refusing to move as her eyes locked onto her husband-Hunter Jackson-laughing and touching the arm of his ex-girlfriend, Sophia Joy.

Purple and blue neon lights danced through the air, the music thundered, and the guests' laughter filled the room-but Olivia's world had gone completely silent. No sound, only the racing beat of her heart battling the crashing waves of emotion inside her.

"Why would he cheat on me with Sophia Joy? What did I lack that made him turn away?" her mind screamed.

Tears welled up in her eyes, but she fought them back with everything she had. She wouldn't cry. Not in front of everyone silently laughing at her misery.

She had trusted Hunter completely. He came home late every night, claiming overtime. She never checked his phone-because she believed love shouldn't be built on suspicion.

But everything crumbled the moment she stumbled upon a video posted on Sophia Joy's Instagram account.

The short clip showcased an extravagant party-diamond-encrusted dance floor, gold-layered cake, and a bold backdrop that read "Happy Birthday Sophia Joy."

Yet it wasn't the luxury that shattered Olivia's heart-it was the man giving the toast on stage.

Her own husband.

"Hunter Jackson, the best man that's ever been in my life," Sophia's voice rang out in the video, her smile playful and seductive.

Without hesitation, Olivia had thrown on a jacket and driven straight to the club mentioned in the post. Her heart felt like it was being crushed under a boulder, but she had to see the truth for herself.

And now she had.

Hunter leaned in and whispered something in Sophia's ear, then laughed with her. His hand landed possessively on her waist. That hand is supposed to only touch me, Olivia thought, choking on the bitter betrayal.

Other guests looked all too familiar-some were Hunter's business associates, others were their former college friends.

"Come on, Jackson, just divorce that wife of yours, Olivia Grace! She's not worthy of you," said a broad-shouldered man in an expensive suit-William, Hunter's arrogant college buddy.

Laughter erupted around them.

"Yeah, Sophia Joy is a much better match. Beautiful, classy, successful. Olivia? Just a poor girl who doesn't even know how to dress herself!" sneered a woman in a fiery red dress.

Olivia felt like she was being stomped into the ground. They spoke as if she were invisible. As if she wasn't Hunter Jackson's lawful wife.

She clenched her fists. How dare they insult me like this?

But the final blow came when Hunter himself-the man who once promised to love her through thick and thin-agreed with them all.

"You're absolutely right. Olivia was never fit to stand beside me."

Olivia's heart stopped. She stared at her husband, tears spilling freely now, praying this was just a nightmare she would soon wake from. But reality was far more brutal.

Sophia laughed loudly, then turned to Hunter with a wicked grin.

"Or maybe we should just make your wife our maid, hmm? Let her serve us instead."

Hunter furrowed his brows for a second, then chuckled, "A maid? Now that's actually a good idea. At least she'd be useful instead of just dead weight."

Laughter exploded again. Champagne glasses clinked, the music roared back to life-but Olivia heard nothing except the sound of her own heart breaking.

"Hunter!" Olivia's voice cut through the room like lightning in a storm.

Everyone turned to her. Eyes widened. Silence fell.

Her eyes were red, her lips trembling, and her whole body shook with a mix of rage and agony.

Hunter froze. Their eyes met. Olivia stepped forward, the crowd parting like curtains for the real show.

"So this is why you've been working late every night?" Her voice was low but razor-sharp. "To throw a luxury party for your ex and publicly humiliate your wife?"

"Olivia..." Hunter tried to speak, but no words followed.

"You're a coward, Hunter." Her voice was cold. "I'm not poor. I just don't waste money on foolish parties and overpriced dresses. But now I see... you never deserved my love."

Sophia scoffed. "This is hilarious. What a cheap drama."

Olivia stepped right up to her, inches apart.

"And you-proudly accepting a party from a married man? That's beyond pathetic."

Sophia smirked. "You really think you can compete with me?"

"I don't need to compete. Because as of tonight, I'm done."

Without hesitation, Olivia took off her wedding ring and threw it right at Hunter's chest.

"Happy birthday, Sophia. You've won. But remember one thing, Hunter..."

She locked eyes with him, her voice a chilling whisper.

"You just lost the only woman who ever truly loved you."

She turned and walked away, her steps steady despite the tremble in her limbs. Every pair of eyes followed her, but she didn't care.

But just as Olivia reached the exit, a voice stopped her in her tracks.

"Olivia, wait!"

Her steps faltered. She knew that voice. A voice she hadn't heard in years. She turned slowly, her eyes widening in disbelief.

"Ethan?" she whispered.

Ethan-her former fiancé who vanished without a trace years ago, the man she once believed had died in a tragic accident-now stood at the door, very much alive. Dressed in a sleek black suit, with eyes that still held that same familiar intensity... warmth... and secrets.

The entire room stood still.

"What are you doing here?" Olivia asked, her voice barely audible.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I sat in the gray, airless room of the New York State Department of Corrections, my knuckles white as the Warden delivered the news. "Parole denied." My father, Howard Sterling, had forged new evidence of financial crimes to keep me behind bars. He walked into the room, smelling of expensive cologne, and tossed a black folder onto the steel table. It was a marriage contract for Lucas Kensington, a billionaire currently lying in a vegetative state in the ICU. "Sign it. You walk out today." I laughed at the idea of being sold to a "corpse" until Howard slid a grainy photo toward me. It showed a toddler with a crescent-moon birthmark—the son Howard told me had died in an incubator five years ago. He smiled and told me the boy's safety depended entirely on my cooperation. I was thrust into the Kensington estate, where the family treated me like a "drowned rat." They dressed me in mothball-scented rags and mocked my status, unaware that I was monitoring their every move. I watched the cousin, Julian, openly waiting for Lucas to die to inherit the empire, while the doctors prepared to sign the death certificate. I didn't understand why my father would lie about my son’s death for years, or what kind of monsters would use a child as a bargaining chip. The injustice of it burned in my chest as I realized I was just a pawn in a game of old money and blood. As the monitors began to flatline and the family started to celebrate their inheritance, I locked the door and reached into the hem of my dress. I pulled out the sharpened silver wires I’d fashioned in the prison workshop. They thought they bought a submissive convict, but they actually invited "The Saint"—the world’s most dangerous underground surgeon—into their home. "Wake up, Lucas. You owe me a life." I wasn't there to be a bride; I was there to wake the dead and burn their empire to the ground.

I Slapped My Fiancé-Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."
