The private helicopter descended into a valley carved out of the Austrian Alps, a landscape of breathtaking, brutal beauty. In the center of it, perched on a cliff like a bird of prey, was Schloss von Hagen. It wasn't a home; it was a fortress, a Gothic behemoth of stone and shadow that seemed to absorb the light from the sky.
